From Kristen Stewart to Bella Hadid.
There's just something about the Cannes Film Festival that brings out the best in celeb beauty. It's like the Oscars, but better—more experimental, and with a glamorous, summery vibe thanks to the backdrop of the French Riviera.
Case in point: these stunning looks from Salma Hayek, Kristen Stewart, Rihanna and many more.
Here are all the must-see hair and makeup close-ups:
Salma has pastel pink hair! I'm assuming it's a wig, but she could definitely pull off this colour if she wanted to. The sparkly white eyeshadow adds to the fun, and I always love her in a rosy lipstick. How does she look like this at 50 years old?!
Yep, Kristen is still the reigning queen of creative eye makeup with this smoky greyish-green shadow. No false lashes or drawn-in brows, just fresh skin, bare lips and a new icy platinum tone for her buzz cut.
Rihanna is channelling the 1990s with her warm brown lipstick, tiny sunglasses and side-parted top knot. The colour palette continues with her sculpted eyes and cheeks—but not the long red mani!
I can't resist a cat eye, and especially not in bold royal blue, which Elle is wearing here. It's an unexpected twist to pair this with such a feminine, neutral-toned dress. Rosy lips and cheeks, feathery brows and soft hair complement the look perfectly.

Jessica always looks amazing in classic old Hollywood hair and makeup—like this deep red lipstick with voluminous, brushed-out waves. I also appreciate that she's doing softer lashes and brows these days (the red brow pencil is a good match here).
Emily reminds me of a '60s Sophia Loren in this undone hairstyle (it's a braid in the back) and matching tawny lips and cheeks. Her brows look gorge, and I'm good with these defined lashes. However, her lips look so swollen!
Diane embraced the choker trend, wearing hers with a wavy hairstyle that makes her look straight out of a romance novel. The makeup features low-key lashes, a shimmery shadow and baby pink lips.
Elizabeth is giving me total hair envy with this tousled style and perfect grown-out highlights. The makeup seems equally effortless, with just a little brow and lash definition plus a sheer berry lip tint.
Sara was all about juicy red lips, fluttery lashes and a little subtle contouring. With her gorgeous skin and bone structure, what else does she need? With so many ruffles on her dress, a simple bun was the right choice.
Fan's skin is incredible—not a pore nor a freckle to be found. Apparently she goes through two sheet masks a day and uses an umbrella in the sun... clearly it pays off! I love this structural high ponytail, as well as the vampy lips, soft lashes and winged liner.
Marion may have just been dumped by Dior, but she will always be a beauty icon for me! Especially in looks like this one, with smoky-shimmery grey eyeshadow, pink lips and a simple slicked-back long bob.
Retro waves are nothing new on the red carpet, but at this bobbed length, Charlize makes them feel a bit more modern. As usual, her makeup is super-understated, with a soft charcoal on the lids and sheer pink lip.
Eva's matte orange lipstick is a welcome change from her favourite reds. Smudgy black shadow and dyed black hair are both high-risk, but somehow, she pulls this off... does being French have something to do with it? I just wish she'd try a glossy dark brown hair colour instead of this harsh, matte black.
Julianne knows that jewel tones are her friend, so she wore this ruby red dress with a purple liner on her upper lash lines—which is a lot softer than black. Pink lips and a simple updo keep the focus on her eyes.
Doutzen looked every bit the screen siren in slicked-back hair, strong brows and graphic eyeshadow... this is why they pay her the big bucks! It's actually impressive how dramatic this is, even though she didn't use any bolder makeup shades like red or black.
Elsa went with her favourite retro cat eyes and pale pink lipstick, quelle surprise. The hair is vintagey, too, with big Veronica Lake-style waves in a controlled side part.
Lily made a statement with a bright magenta lipstick, long lashes, and of course, her signature dark, full brows. Her hair is scraped up and tight to her head, showing off her beautiful skin and bone structure.
Nicole loosened up her usual style with a more casual undone braid, tossed over one shoulder. I like that she kept her brows darker, and even though she may be over-injected, her skin is undeniably flawless.
Barbara's eyes would be mesmerizing even without makeup, but I particularly like how she's tightlined them here, underneath the upper lashes. A little mascara, pink-stained lips and long, loose hair complete the look.
Michelle's platinum blonde pixie is now even lighter than the shade she had at the Oscars. Too light, I think—it seems to be washing her out. Some more cheek and lip colour wouldn't hurt either.
Uma has a new, straight and swingy long bob—I love it! The darker warm blonde colour is great on her, too, and the same goes for the simple makeup. It looks like those cosmetic tweaks she had back in 2015 have settled down as well!
