Of Course Sisley Lip Crayons Are Better Than Everyone Else's

The colour of a lipstick with the shine of a gloss—and zebra-print packaging. Zebra!

Everyone and their mother is coming out with a chubby lip crayon lately. Remember the time, just three short years ago, when I was all excited about the new hybrid gloss-balms? Now, they're everywhere—and big fat crayons are the newest and most popular delivery method.

Today's post is to alert you to what is possibly la creme de la creme in this category, the new Phyto-Lip Twists from Sisley. Ah, Sisley. The makers of $800 night cream. (My mom just about fell over when I gave her my sample of this back in '09, and still tells me it was the best thing ever.)

Fortunately, the lip crayons are like six percent of that price, and a lovely way to get your tiny piece of the famous Sisley luxury. Honestly, this brand produces probably the highest quality beauty products in the business—no lie. These lippies are formulated with a phyto-squalene derived from olive oil to moisturize, and a resin extract used in Ayurvedic medicine to smooth and make lip creases less noticeable.

I was sent shade number five, Berry, to try, and here's the real-life snap. (God, that zebra print is cute.)

And here it is on my lips. (Don't mind the foundation I was testing today; I can't decide if it's flaking because it sucks or if I should blame re-starting my Retin-A routine.)

So the Lip Twist creates a pretty, pigmented colour (more berry than fuchsia) with a sheer but buildable effect. The finish is quite glossy, and as the French say, "comfortable." It's much easier to apply than a lipstick, and is basically the most moisturizing thing you could ever put on your lips—no worries about it accentuating any flakes or cracks; instead, it'll help heal them. To sharpen it, you just twist the bottom.

There are six shades to covet, and I want them all:

Especially interested in the Cherry, and oh, Pinky looks amazing, too.

For a drugstore alternative, check out Revlon's ColorBurst Lacquer Balms (reviewed here). In comparison, I would say the Sisley crayons give you even more moisturization, and the colours don't have any sparkle, which I must admit I prefer. Plus, it's just nice to have a totally luxe lip product every once in a while. And one that you'd use way more often than a lipstick, if you're anything like me.

These are super-splurge-worthy, guys!
