I'm Crushing on Deborah Lippmann's Chrome Nail Polish For Fall

The limited-edition shades in her New York Marquee collection are luxe and oh-so-lovely!

If there are two things I love, they're nail polish and New York City. So when I saw that Deborah Lippmann was coming out with a limited-edition fall collection inspired by all things New York, I just knew it had to be mine. The New York Marquee range comes in six stunning chrome shades (all out now!) and I'm super-impressed with each and every one. Keep reading for a more detailed look at each polish, plus my thoughts on formula and application.

Autumn in New York

Autumn in New York is one gorgeous gold. Though it's probably a little too much on the yellow side for my personal liking, it's still a beauty. And let me tell you, what a flawless application. Literally, this and all the other shades were opaque in 0ne coat (but apply two for good measure) and just went on so perfectly. Like nothing I've ever experienced before when it comes to chromes!

By the way, if you know anything about chromes, you know they're notoriously streaky and hard to apply. But these six babies? Nope. Easy as pie. If there are any streaks you do happen to see in these photos, it's because I used a terrible top coat. My swatch of Autumn in New York, above, most closely resembles what these look like once dried—a.k.a. pretty perfect and brush-stroke free.

Lullaby of Broadway

How pretty is this soft blush shade called Lullaby of Broadway? I'm so obsessed! Not only is the colour beautiful, it applied amazingly. Again, I recommend two coats for long wear.

Take The "A" Train

Take the "A" Train, a gunmetal shade, is so chic and fall-perfect, I don't know how I'll be able to reach for anything else. And what a dreamy application!

Harlem Nocturne

Harlem Nocturne is so pretty, no? This shade, which is more blue-leaning in real life, is a gorgeous inky hue. I really, really love this one. And, like the rest of them, it was smooth sailing when it came to application.

12th Street Rag

Okay, guys. Just look at this colour, 12th Street Rag. Is it not to die for?! I can't get over the bright chrome pink. SO fun! And again, don't mind those lines you see on my ring and middle finger... that's the result of using a less-than-stellar top coat, because this one dried with no brush strokes into a perfect popping pink before I applied top coat. I'm so in love with this shade.

I'll Take Manhattan

I didn't think it could get better than 12th Street Rag until I'll Take Manhattan hit my nails. Cannot. Deal. It is the most perfect teal shade—one that's bright but at the same time, oddly perfect for fall. It's opulent and reminds me of a gem. A really cool, bright gem. I just adore this shade.

BUT... I swatched this one (and all the others except for Autumn in New York) with no base coat, and this was the result after removal:

Not cute! So if you don't wear base coat (and you should), avoid this shade, or you'll get staining. This was after only maybe five minutes of wear, too. So I'd expect worse if it's kept on for longer. Luckily it came off with a lot of scrubbing, but still, not fun.

Just as a side note, I've read elsewhere that these chrome polishes can be troublesome with base coat, but that wasn't my experience at all. I found the polish applied the same (which was amazing!) over base coat AND over my naked nails, so I wouldn't fret about it being difficult to apply. Of all the chromes I've tried, these Deborah Lippmann shades are easily the best quality. So sure, the price tag is a little high, but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for...
