For the second instalment in my "best of the drugstore" series (here's the blush one in case you missed it), we're getting lippy and talking all things lip gloss.
In the past, I had mixed feelings about lip gloss. But thanks to the new, non-sticky formulas, it's all I seem to reach for lately. They're the easiest thing to wear—and since the formulas are usually quite sheer, re-application is a breeze (i.e. there's a slim chance it'll end up all over your teeth).
In my flourishing love of lip gloss, I've scoured the drugstore and narrowed down my top picks just for you.
Maybelline Color Elixir Lip Color
Aren't these colours gorgeous? Maybelline's Color Elixir glosses have some of the brightest shades, but don't worry, they don't come off as loud as they might look in the tubes.
These also get bonus points for awesome packaging!
The applicator on these is a tapered doe foot, which makes swiping it on way more fun, and picks up the perfect amount of product.
Raspberry Rhapsody looked the darkest in its tube, like more of a plum instead of raspberry. But on the lips, it's totally subtle and wearable, which is right up my alley. It has a hint of purple and some subtle blue shimmers.
Manadarin Rapture is a sheer orangey that's also surprisingly wearable, though I personally would reach for pinks and reds more often.
Look how pretty! Fuchsia Flourish is something I would SO wear all the time—and have been doing so. This one is less sheer, and gives you a nice pop of colour. I found this one to be a little thicker/stickier than the rest, but the colour really makes up for it. I've been wearing this non-stop.
How perfect is this shade for everyday? Blush Essence is one of those 'your lips but better' colours, and I found it really amplified my pout in the best way possible. Plus that shimmer... swoon.
Rimmel Stay Glossy Lip Gloss
Rimmel says its Stay Glossy Lip Gloss gives you up to six hours wear. Are they crazy? I really love these, but let's not be fooled; they don't last six hours. As with all glosses, you have to re-apply every once in a while, and that's fine.
While these may not last six hours, they're super-gorge for the time they do stay on your lips. Plus, they come in 24 shades. Twenty-four!
These too have a doe-foot applicator:
And look at these colours!
That pink just pops, doesn't it?
All Night Long looked a little dark in the tube, but pop it on the lips and it's the prettiest shade of light plum, with gold shimmer to boot. Gorgeous and so easy to wear.
Fuchsia Fever is a super-bright and super-awesome pink, and I just love it. It's my favourite of the three shades I've tried.
Diamond Dust is a nude shade that makes your lips look natural but with a little something-something. It's great for those days when you're playing up other makeup on your face, or for when you just want to keep it simple.
Sonia Kashuk Ultra Luxe Lip Gloss
With eight ultra-pretty shades, there's something for everyone in Sonia Kashuk's Ultra Luxe Lip Gloss line. I'm all over Sonia's packaging; so sleek and, well, luxe.
In general, these do have a slightly thicker consistency, but I think the colours are amazing and make up for the fact that they're a little on the sticky side.
These glosses have a brush applicator.
I have to say, I prefer the doe-foot applicators... you just need to be a bit careful that you don't load up too much product on these brushes.
Fairest Flush is pretty great for everyday. This light pink shade is universally flattering.
I spot a shade destined for fall weather, and it's Polished Plum. I love how there's no shimmer in this one, just rich but sheer colour. Gorgeous!

Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss
It's no secret that Revlon's a favourite of mine. These Super Lustrous Lip Glosses come in 12 shades, and all SO pretty. I'm also obsessed with their packaging. It's very Chanel, no?
These come with tiny doe-foot applicators.
They glide so smoothly onto the lips and feel like buttah.
These glosses are much more jelly-like in consistency than the others. They have a squishy look when swatched. On the lips, they're more sheer swipes of colour than opaque glosses, which make them perfect for everyday wear.
Pango Peach is a subtle peachy-pink shade with gold shimmer that I've used a lot. I love this stuff! It's so easy to just swipe on without having to worry if you got it on right, and it happens to look good with whatever else you have going on. Just a great gloss for anytime, anywhere.
I stashed Pink Pop in my bag a few weeks ago, and it's nearly all I've been wearing. I love the colour; just a nice pop of pink (as the name states!) and it stays on pretty well, I must add. Because it's more on the sheer side, the pink colour isn't too overpowering, making it my go-to for when I want to add a subtle colour to my lips.
It may look intimidating in the tube, but on the lips, Fatal Apple comes off as a really sheer red. So don't get this if you're expecting an opaque gloss. But it's really pretty, and sure to become a staple in my makeup bag.
Revlon ColorBurst Lipgloss
Another Revlon favourite of mine is their ColorBurst Lipgloss. It's available in 18 shades and really, I don't know why I don't have them all yet. Their sleek tube with a quilted cap makes the gloss feel super-luxe, and the quality easily tops this list for my fave.
Another doe-foot applicator here.
Is that swatch not to-die-for? Now just wait until you see it on the lips...
How gorgeous? From the second I got Adorned, I knew I'd love it. The colour is just out of this world and it's super-opaque, which makes it that much more beautiful. Plus, do you see all that purple shimmer? I can't contain myself when it comes to this one. If the colour doesn't reel you in (but honestly, how can it not?), the lasting power will. While the shine and actual gloss might not stay all day, this shade leaves your lips with the prettiest pink stain, meaning that even if you forget to re-apply, you'll still be covered.
I'm pretty obsessed with this gloss and need more colours, stat.
NYX Butter Gloss
Can you believe I was a NYX virgin before trying these Butter Glosses out? Well, I was, and I've been missing out because this stuff is the bomb.com. And they come in 22 yummy shades! These going on really smooth, as their name would suggest, and I'm officially keeping one on me at all times in my bag.
Like the most of the others, these apply with a doe-foot applicator.
So buttery and creamy and pretty!
Maple Blondie is really nice and wearable sheer peachy-pink. You may need to smooth it out with your fingertip, as it tends to settle a bit into the lines of your lips on first application. Pretty sure this one is supposed to smell like maple, but it just smells sweet to me.
Sugar Cookie is my fave. The bright pink just looks good with anything and I kept this in my bag for a good two week period, constantly grabbing it for every day. Plus it smells like a sugar cookie, too!
How pretty is this red gloss? I love that Cherry Pie is not an intimidating red, but still gives off a nice amount of colour. And it smells just like you'd imagine a cherry gloss would: yummy!
