Remember when I was freaking out over Schmidt's Natural Deodorant? Freaking out in a good way, that is—because until I tried that line of all-natural deodorant pastes, I had basically abandoned all hope of finding a non-chemical product that worked. But oh, does it work. Once I tried it, I never looked back and haven't touched a chemical deo since.
And now there are two!
But what's even more compelling is this. Primal Pit Paste not only has the same pots of deo that you apply with your fingers—but they also sell it in a stick format.
A stick! So much more convenient and far less messy. With the pastes, you have to warm them up between your fingertips to get them to melt, and spread them directly on your armpits (which requires washing your hands afterwards). The stick, on the other hand, warms up almost instantly, after a second of contact on the skin, and is pretty much foolproof. And also totally portable and travel-friendly.
Pro tip: Store it in a warm room, like the bathroom, and you should have no trouble at all with the consistency if you apply it, say, after a shower.
Just to compare the ingredients, here's what's in my Thyme and Lemongrass-scented Primal Pit Paste (which smells amazing, BTW... not too feminine nor masculine, just very fresh):
*Shea Butter, *Coconut Oil, Non-Aluminum Baking Soda, *Beeswax, *Arrowroot Powder, Essential Oils: Thyme and Lemongrass. (*Organic)
Compare to what's in my Bergamot + Lime Schmidt's:
Butyrospermum parkii (shea butter), Sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), Maranta arundinacea (arrowroot) powder, Theobroma cacao (cocoa) seed butter, Citrus bergamia (bergamot) essential oil, Citrus aurantifolia (lime) essential oil, Tocopherol (vitamin E), Humulus lupulus (hop) extract.
Pretty close, so it's no wonder I'm getting the same great results. I repeat: I do not smell. AT ALL.
Primal Pit Paste sells the stick in seven different scents, plus an unscented version. And they have the pots as well, if you prefer that format.
There is also a baking soda-free stick, called Happy Pits, which I've not tried but would be the one to go for if you are particularly sensitive. I found that after the first few days of switching to this deo type, I got completely used to it and have had no issues with stinging/redness ever since.
