I've Found My Holy Grail Product For Curly Hair
The biggest issue I have with my naturally curly hair is that I need 42,348,297 different products to tackle each individual problem.
Wait for it: I use a frizz-fighting serum, a hydrating leave-in, a curl definer and a hairspray. (And the last one's just to preserve all that other crap I just hurled into my hair.) Sound familiar?
If you have hair like I do, then you're probably nodding real hard in agreement right now. But rest your little keppie (that’s Yiddish for head), because I've finally found my holy grail product for curly hair:
For the last two months, Moroccanoil’s Intense Curl Cream has been the sole product I've been using post-shower to tame and style my curls. Yes, you read that correctly. A single product.
This cream shortens my hair routine tenfold because it hydrates, fights frizz, defines and maintains my curls—all without making my hair crunchy (which is just the worst, amirite?!). Two of my best friends have shower-and-leave-the-house hair, and this product brings me one step closer to their no-maintenance hairstyles. It's a dream for any curly-haired girl.
The cream is dispensed through a pump, and I only need to use one pump, maximum two, depending on how my curls are acting that day. (Note: my hair is on the finer side and just skims my shoulders when curly, so how much you use will depend on your hair length/thickness.)
Like all Moroccanoil products, it's a litttllle pricey (around $30-35), but like I said, it replaces ALL my other hair stylers and has already lasted so much longer than any other hair product I’ve used in the past.
This is how much product comes out in one pump:
The cream is slippery and creamy, but a little tacky after being in your hands for a minute or so. The “tack” is what I’m assuming keeps curls defined and in place.
How I Use the Moroccanoil Intense Curl Cream
After brushing out and parting my hair, I use the Intense Curl Cream as if it’s a leave-in conditioner/mousse hybrid.
I rub one or two pumps together in the palms of my hands. Then, starting at my roots, I run the product down my hair shaft through the ends.
Next, I wind my hair all together to inspire the curls to be super-spirally. I find this also helps to ensure that my curls aren't so stringy and piece-y when they dry. No one wants spaghetti string curls!
From there, I repeatedly scrunch my hair upwards towards the roots until it has a bounce I am satisfied with. Since my hair is on the thinner side, I like to give it a little squeeze up towards my part to add some extra oomph. If my hair is still too damp or covered in too much product, I will take a cotton T-shirt and scrunch my hair once more to absorb the moisture.
And then we wait.... I've learned that you truly need to ignore your hair as it is drying to get the best results. I even try and avoid mirrors because my hair is never up to my standards until it's 100 percent dry. The more you play with it, the more frizz you will find.
About 45 minutes later... it's all dry!
While I know my curls aren't perfect, they are definitely improved thanks to Moroccanoil’s Intense Curl Cream. I can’t even call my hair styling process a regimen anymore, because it is only one step! And I’m definitely not complaining.
