From Grey Hair to Neon Lips: 25 of the Best Skin, Hair and Makeup Looks Lately
It was another awesome week in celebrity beauty sightings! Amandla Stenberg (a.k.a. Rue from The Hunger Games) had the most exciting hair by far, and I also fell in love with Chloë Moretz's bright lipstick, Angie Harmon's dewy skin and Lily Collins' bushy brows. But that's just the start—there's so much more to see!
These were the best celebrity beauty looks lately:
Amandla Stenberg
She's only 16 years old, but already Amandla has major beauty game. Can we talk about The Hair? On such a youthful face, the grey is a deliberate style choice and oh so fun. Just before this event, she had it in braids, which created this fab texture and mega-volume when she took 'em all out. The other key elements are the length and choppiness. If you described this to me, never in a million years would I think it could look good—but it really does! Makeup is soft and subtle; just right when the hair is so statement-making.
Chloë Moretz
Pretty, pretty, pretty! I've been growing weary of Chloë's usual neutral palette, so it's quite the delight to see her in such a beautiful, bright lip colour with matching flushed cheeks. Even her hair looks more blonde and Rapunzel-like, especially with the little details of the centre part and the two pieces at the front twisted and pinned back. Her full, brushed-up brows and no eyeliner—just soft upper lashes—are the perfect counterparts. (No word on the specific lipstick shade, alas!)
Angie Harmon
I NEED to know Angie's secrets. She has been so glowy and gorgeous lately, it's crazy! This time is no exception: dewy skin, sheer gloss, naturally strong brows, a soft blowout and some glam around the eyes. I don't think she needs the lashes at all, but they don't bother me too much against the black waterlines and fun swipe of metallic rose gold underneath. This is so timeless and appropriate for any age.
Lily Collins
Oh look, Lily is pulling off her new (ish) short haircut very nicely. In this photo, I'm particularly enjoying the tone-on-tone effect of her half green, half brown eyes, which also match her hair, and then pick up the brownish-rose lip colour, too. No blush, except a lil' contour under the cheeks, and I think it works, although perhaps could be a bit more skin-toned. Brows are amaze as per usual, and so are her lashes. Extensions, I think? So much less offensive than false lash strips!
Zoë Saldana
Zoë can be a bit hit or miss when it comes to red carpet, but I think we can all appreciate her natural beauty here. Like, wow! I'm amazed at the quality of her skin (which is sans any potentially garish blush), and just love how the black liquid liner follows the curve of her eyes, accentuating their almond-ness. The sheer red lipstick is the cherry on top.
Cara Delevingne
Cara looks flawless 99 percent of the time, being a model and all—and sometimes that's not so exciting. With this, I'm excited! It's probably half to do with her pose, which almost looks straight out of a high-fashion ad. But it's also the makeup: burgundy-stained lips, a textured brown smoky eye and rosy cheeks. The hair is super-modern in caramel Sombré and piecey, bedhead waves. Yes times a thousand!
Kendall Jenner
Kendall looks a lot like Kim here, no? But way fresher, which I appreciate so much. You can tell she's doing a bit of contouring and highlighting on her cheeks, but it's nicely restrained, and so is the rest of the makeup—really just lashes and nude lipstick. Notice how her incredibly shiny hair has a bit of wave, but the ends are left straight. I think that's really key; whenever celebs curl the ends under it just doesn't look as current.

Victoria Justice
I'm gonna start calling Victoria Little Miss Perfect. Because isn't she? Sure, she wears a heavier makeup than is generally my taste, but always comes off looking so gorgeous and hyper-groomed. The red lipstick is precise, the eyeshadow multi-dimensional, and the brows carefully arched (with just a bit of soft pencil to fill in the tails). Her face must be a makeup artist's dream.
Miley Cyrus
For months now, we haven't seen Miley with much of anything on her baby face, save a slick of lip gloss and mascara. So to get a juicy red, glossy lipstick with well-defined lashes is a bit of a treat. It's just really too bad about the hair.
Imogen Poots
Imogen has such a good non-hair colour. (Is it blonde? Brunette? Strawberry? Some mix of all three, I'd say.) I'm definitely adding this one to my hair colours folder for future hair appointment fodder. I love her smudgy navy eye makeup as well, and may just copy that, too. With natural lips, rosy cheeks, a few freckles and flyaways, this is a very lived-in beauty look. Really cute!
Teresa Palmer
Often, a dark, vampy lip looks way too jarring and harsh on a blonde. But then there's the rare occasion when someone like Teresa pulls it off, and it's way more glam than Goth. Her tanned skin helps, and so does her sleek, centre-parted hair, tucked behind both ears. Brows are youthful and natural, and then just a bit of gold rimming the eyes, with fluffy upper lashes. I wouldn't change a thing!
Sandra Bullock
I'm not sure what happened with Sandra's hair—the first six inches are great, but something got lost in the execution of the lengths—so let's just focus on her makeup. What's kind of interesting is the colour combo: she's paired a soft, shimmery purple on her lids with bold pink blush and a pink lip gloss. I might tone down the lashes and tightlining slightly, but otherwise, her brown eyes and complexion seem very flattered by this.
Kate Mara
Kate's makeup seems softer than usual—maybe because of her new pixie cut? Like Sandra, she chose a purple eyeshadow, this time a flat one, and the lips and cheeks are a peachy-pink. I really like that the lashes and brows aren't trying to be something they're not. With the emphasis now on her delicate features, any heavy makeup would look "off".
Brittany Snow
Hooray, Brittany softened things up! Well, mostly. The lashes are a bit cray, and I'd much prefer the chunky mascara'd look she was rocking before. But her softer lip texture is a huge improvement, and her skin seems much more fresh—not covered up by unnecessary layers of thick foundation. Pretty hair, as well.
Jamie Chung
Jamie looks good here, as always. I really love this lipstick for her—these new, softer reds are quite something, huh? The grey eyeshadow is a nice pairing, and maybe could've stood on its own, without the black liner. I also wish the lashes weren't doing what they're doing, and that the brows weren't filled in so heavily. Her SKIN, though. Gah!
Nina Dobrev
This one's all about the hair. I LOVE seeing these full, curly manes let loose on the red carpet. It's so '80s and sexy. Unfortunately, I think Nina dated it by relying on her makeup as a crutch. It could've been way more modern if she eased up the false lashes, angular brown shadow and heavy blush.
Bella Thorne
Bella is back to her strawberry blonde, and it just makes her skin sing. (Also? This is what a 17-year-old forehead looks like. No lines, no pores, no shine. How annoying.) I like that her makeup is less gimmicky here than usual, with just brownish-black lashes and liner to make her eyes pop. But gosh, someone get the girl a lip balm.
Holland Roden
Pretty sure this is Holland's natural hair colour, as it's the kind of soft mid-auburn that you just can't get from a bottle. The air-dried style could perhaps use a bit more volume, but I'm fine with it for a daytime event. And at least she didn't coat herself in makeup. The coral pink lipstick and blush really complement her colouring, and the rest of her face is low-key and fresh.
Behati Prinsloo
This week, prize goes to Behati for wearing the least makeup of all. (Well, Victoria's Secret models can do what they like.) I'm actually more interested in her hair, which is probably the best example I've seen in a while of the new air-drying thing. Problem is, if us non-model types executed the whole thing—non-styled hair and no makeup—it would genuinely look like we just rolled out of bed. So no.
Michelle Monaghan
You know what Michelle does that's really cool? She takes risks with wearing unusual colour combos on her lids, cheeks and lips. Case in point: the warm golden-peach eyeshadow, almost to the brows, sitting alongside cool-toned pink blush. And then a coral lip stain that's somewhere in between warm and cool. It's interesting, right? Keeping the lashes natural and the hair loose and sexy were critical, so the colour play doesn't come across as tacky.
Taylor Schilling
Hmm, those lines are thick. I'm not sure if Taylor needed quite this heavy or rounded an eyeliner application, but I can't really fault the rest of the makeup (except for the visible lip liner). The shimmery taupe up to the brows is very good, the blush is totally seamless and I love me a dark brow with blonde, bobbed hair. Is it just me—or the eyeliner—or does she look different here? What is it?
Katherine Hughes
Katherine's hair could be in commercials, it's so frickin' shiny! She has adorable baby hairs along her hairline, too. The tawny peach blush, matching lip gloss, greige shadow and full lashes are all great with her golden complexion. I'm undecided about the brows. As you know, I adore the full, natural look, but possibly a tidy up top is warranted?
Lily Donaldson
Before you get bored seeing yet another model, just check out this one small detail that I like here: the bright yellow-gold shimmer at the inner corners of Lily's eyes. It's a perfect match to her hair colour, and turns an otherwise stock-standard makeup look into something more exciting. Am I right? I think anyone with light hair could try this trick—I'm gonna see if I have some shadow in a copper-gold!
Zendaya
Try to ignore the too-light foundation/concealer/something underneath Zendaya's eyes, and instead just focus on the purples. There's a blue-ish purple tone up to the crease, and then a 360-degree application of pinky-purple shimmer all around that. Kind of fabulous with her hair off her face! (Although I wish she had way less other makeup on.) Lashes are prob fake, but at least toned down—for her.
Michelle Trachtenberg
I've said my bit before about not loving Michelle's near-black hair colour, and how it doesn't match her light brows. So again, ignore. Just focus on her enormous blue eyes, which will draw you in with their baby cat flicks and gold shimmer at the inner corners. I always love this girl's eye makeup—always! Blush is very well-applied, and the pale, cool pink lip gloss actually works here, when usually it's tragic. Such a beauty, too-dark hair or not.
