Reviewed: Love Flush, the New Long-Lasting Powder Blush from Too Faced
If you a) are on Instagram and b) follow anyone in beauty, then your feed probably blew up a few weeks ago ago with photos of the new Too Faced Love Flush Long-Lasting 16-Hour Blush.
I mean, they're VERY Instagrammable. Here's the pic I shared.
Now that you can actually buy 'em, I want to give you a closer look at what is a major contender for Cutest Beauty Product in the Entire World.
Do they actually live up to the hype? Let's see!
Here's the outer packaging:
Already, your heart starts beating faster, doesn't it?
It gets even better when you open up the box, because this is what you get:
Heart-shaped blush compacts. Oh yes, whoever works at Too Faced knows exactly how to get to us.
I should mention, the selling point with these isn't just the pretty packaging. They are powder blushes that are supposed to last up to 16 hours without fading.
There are six shades, all of which Too Faced sent me for testing:
Here's the lowdown on the colours you see above:
- Love Hangover (top left): Warm pink
- Justify My Love (top right): Bright pink with fine gold sparkle
- Baby Love (middle left): Soft dusty nude with fine gold sparkle
- Your Love Is King (middle right): Plummy rose
- How Deep Is Your Love? (bottom left): Watermelon pink
- I Will Always Love You (bottom right): Gilded peach
And here's what they look like on the skin:
Obviously, you're going to blend them out more than this, but I have to say—these blushes are SUPER-pigmented. So much so that the only one I'd comfortably wear on my fair skin is Baby Love, the nude shade and the subtlest of the bunch. Even though it has a tiny bit of gold through it, you don't notice it on the skin.
The others? Well, I think they're best suited for people with darker skin tones than mine (so, medium to deep) and/or those who prefer a bold blush look. Even with careful blending, they were just too bright and clownish on me, and I didn't like how the powder and shimmer just sat on top of my skin. Way too obvious—I prefer a matte, seamless, flushing-from-within look.
(Although perhaps I'm being extra-cautious around blush these days, since I just wrote about the biggest blush mistakes!)
As for the wear time, I noticed some fade after about five hours or so, but that could just be because they are so pigmented, I only applied a small amount.
Conclusion
You will love the Love Flush Blush if you're specifically looking for a bright and unusual blush look—like the cool pink Justify My Love or the orangey I Will Always Love You. You should also find something here if your problem is that colours don't stand out enough on your deeper skin tone. The plum-rose Your Love Is King would be fab!
But if you're pale like me, or not confident with your blending, then I feel like the only subtle and goof-proof choice here is Baby Love, and that's kind of a shame!
