If Bella Thorne doesn't put you in the mood for bolder lipstick as we head into fall, I don't know what will! Besides her stunning looks, there were lots more from New York Fashion Week, including Alessandra Ambrosio's perfect cat eyes and Ashley Madekwe's fluffy lashes.
Here's your latest batch of celebrity beauty inspiration. TIFF and Emmys red carpet reviews to come!
Brick red lips have never looked better. Bella's are especially stunning because they pick up on the tones in her red hair. She paired them with chocolate brown liner, champagne eyeshadow, minimal blush and false lashes—I'd have skipped the lashes, but she looks gorgeous regardless.
A cool but classic look from Bella, with creamy red lips and her hair up and off her face. (Not sure if that's a bun or a ponytail... or some kind of hybrid?) The long lashes work here because her hair is off her face—and her skin looks so beautiful!
Looking at this photo, I think we can all appreciate why Alessandra has been a Victoria's Secret model since 2000 (!!!). Her skin and eyes are just radiant. I love the black liner to make her eyes pop, with shimmery rose gold shadow all the way around for extra sparkle. Brows are natural, and cheeks and lips get a hint of pinky-peach.
Last week, we also saw Ashley with her hair in a centre part, but worn loose and tucked behind both ears. This time, her hair is all up—but her good skin is still the focus. I think she is wearing extensions, not falsies, so her lashes are looking nice and soft. Lips are nude and brows are well-groomed. I love her simplicity!
Camilla is another favourite for me! I like this unique pale green eyeshadow look much better than last week's dramatic false lashes. The colour is focused on the inner corners and travels to the lower lash lines, but the outer upper edges are soft black wings. The pairing of the green with peach lips and cheeks is fantastic. As always, her brows elevate the whole thing.
Christina's hair is getting so long now. I like that she's trying out the tucked-behind-both-ears style, and that her hair doesn't look so wiggy for once. The choice of orangey shadow is interesting, and kind of artistic with the bold pink blush that goes almost to her temples. And yet, it doesn't seem overdone. Love her stained raspberry lips as well.
Italia might be a new baby beauty crush for me. I'm crazy about the freckles sprinkled over her nose, and her seriously glowing skin. Her nose and cheeks are really the focus here, even though the brown-black liner is accentuating her eyes. Now, if we could just get her to lose the false lashes and grow in her brows a bit.
Emily is another one who could do without the false lashes, but otherwise I do like her silvery-sparkly eye makeup here. I think if her lashes were closer to Ashley's, she'd look great. Lipstick is equally glam in a rich berry red, and her skin looks all post-facial flawless.
How exciting, a rare Olivia sighting! And she's still taking little beauty risks, like this matte pale peach lipstick. (Looks a little dry, but I'm still into it.) Eyes are subtly lined, with lashes that aren't over the top. But the real standout is her brushed-out waves. She didn't do the usual post-pregnancy chop, and her hair looks super-smooth and healthy.
I appreciate what Anna was getting at here: minimal makeup with a sexy dress and bouffant '60s hair. I just think the hair is too helmet-like, which is a shame! If it weren't so stiff and the volume was dialled down a bit, Anna would look younger, fresher and more like herself. I do like the bare makeup, though.
Just when you think Zendaya doesn't have any more beauty tricks up her sleeve, out she comes with this take on traditional glamour. There's something a bit Studio 54 about this curly wig, and I love it. However, she is still going pretty heavy on the makeup. Bare lips and natural lashes would be so much cooler.
Even dressed in sexy metallic sequins, there's still a cuteness to Hailee's look. I love the wave pattern in her hair, and how her shadow picks upon the tones of her dress. She always knows how to strike the right balance between lips and cheeks—here, lips are kept soft and nude.
This look emphasizes lips, eyes and brows equally. I just love the red lipstick, and its perfectly rounded shape. Hailee always tends to wear some kind of sparkly shadow, with black liner. The loose, textured hair is the one "undone" element.
The last of the Hailee trio, and this one is all about the green shadow from lash line to crease. So unexpected with a navy blue dress (sequins again!). I love her matte lip texture and colour here as well. It's a shame the blush and bronzer/contour are so heavy, because they detract from what is otherwise so creative.
There's a hint of a mismatch between Kate's paler face and darker body, but it's a common phenomenon at the end of summer. What I like here is her shimmery glow, both on her lids and lips. Hopefully you're noticing how people are taking their eyeshadow colour underneath the eyes now, not just on top. Brows are also very natural.
Nina was a guest at this show, but she easily looks like she could have walked the runway in these dramatic black cat eyes. How very Lanvin fall 2012! She also pulls off another tricky trend: slicked-back wet roots and dry ends.
Kendall is always mesmerizing to me, because you can see the Kim Kardashian in her, but it's... better. The contrast between her black hair and pale skin is great here, played up with nude lipstick and blush, and gold shadow. False lashes pop up here again, but at least she wears them well.
I think this is as low-key and natural as Rita goes! Her long hair looks fantastic in this simple, tousled texture with a centre part. Makeup is still pretty intense, but at least her shadow is a mono colour. The combo of blonde hair, beige skin, brown lids and pale pinky-peach lips is fantastic.
Okay, should've warned you this was coming! I know most of you will hate it. If I saw someone walking down the street with this makeup, I know I'd stare long and hard. But for a person in Rita's line of work, I think I have to applaud the creativity. I mean, have you ever seen forest green, chartreuse and dark red paired together? Considering the colour combo, she actually pulls it off fairly impressively!
Now here's another colour combination, one that you're more likely to get behind. Olivia chose bright shimmering copper eyeshadow and took it high above her creases and along the lower lids. No visible eyeliner, just lashes, and a bright glossy red stain. Those colours together are so good! But I wouldn't have gone so heavy on the blush, and I really think her brows should be augmented underneath instead of above.
At least Kylie doesn't look as waxy as she did at the VMAs. But damn, her lips seem to be inflating at a rapid speed... or is it all smoke and mirrors/lip liner? I will give her props for pulling off straight-up brown lipstick, because not many can! It's also nice to see her hair up, and her looking a bit more grown-up and understated overall. (Well, as understated as Kylie can get.)
It's clearly a wig, but I'm into this red on Katy. It flatters her more than the blonde/black Ombré, and it matches these marsala lip colours she keeps wearing lately. Too bad it's so obvious at her hairline, and that her foundation is a bit yellow. (The lip liner and false lashes, I've come to expect from her.) The gold eyeshadow is also very nice!
