Editor's Pick: Nudus Certified Organic Lipstick

Creamy, pigmented and 100 percent natural.

Organic and natural lipsticks haven't always been great. I've tried so many that had weird textures (too drying or too slippery), or dreadful colour selections (think browns and shimmers!).

One exception is a little Australian brand I've recently discovered. Meet Nudus

They're a range of handcrafted, certified organic lipsticks—or as they call them, "Lip Euphorias"—that have super-hydrating formulas and some of the best colours I've seen.

How great is this modern, bright white packaging?!

Here are the ingredients for the shade 27 Kisses:

The formulas look and feel super-creamy, and the shade range is really unique. These are not sheers, but rich, full-coverage lipsticks that will cover your natural lip tone extremely well.

My five shades of Nudus Organic Lipstick.

I was initially sent two colours to try, but guess what? I liked them so much, I went and bought three more!

Part of what influenced me was makeup artist Sheri Stroh's Instagram (which you should definitely follow, if you're into green beauty). She uses Nudus quite often on her models, with absolutely stunning results!

Here's a closer look at each colour:

Nudus Organic Lipstick in Precious.

Precious is described as a bright coral pink. I would actually say it's a bright medium pink with yellow undertones (not really orangey). And I love it! Yellow-based pinks are so hard to find, but way easier for most of us to wear than cool fuchsias. This would be flattering on most skin tones, and I love that it's not the typical boring hot pink. (Note: This shade was sent to me from Clementine Fields.)

Bitter Sweet

Nudus Organic Lipstick in Bitter Sweet.

Bitter Sweet is described as a bright orange-red. Kind of like a burnt orange, if you will. Again, it's a very unique colour—somewhere in between a yellow orange and a brick red, with a hint of brown for good measure. It wakes up your complexion in the same way that a classic red does, but the warm undertones give it a subtle '90s feel that is much more unexpected. I like this one because I definitely don't have anything like it in my collection. (Note: This was also sent to me from Clementine Fields.)

Nudus Organic Lipstick in Naked.

Naked is described as a light golden neutral brown. Unlike most nudes, it doesn't have much pink; it is also close to your lips' natural tone instead of pale. For me, this was probably a mistake purchase (although Sheri makes it look so good!). I don't know why it comes off a bit grey on me... on a deeper, warmer skin tone it would probably be more flattering, although I like it better if I blot. I also like the coverage it gives. Who would have though a natural brand could deliver a full-coverage nude when most out there are horribly patchy and chalky?!

Fairy Tales

Nudus Organic Lipstick in Fairy Tales.

Fairy Tales is described as a light warm peach. I would say it's more light orange, and I'm still freaking out over how much I love it! Obviously, my best purchase of the five (well, three). I don't think I've ever seen a shade quite like it. Most oranges are deeper/brighter/redder, or if they are light, then they are more sheer. But this is light and opaque. If I had to pick a signature lip colour, this would be IT.

27 Kisses

Nudus Organic Lipstick in 27 Kisses.

27 Kisses is described as a creamy, mid-tone mauve. It is the "universal" shade in the entire line (and I believe is their bestseller), because it has chameleon-like qualities! I've stalked it all over the Internet and social media, and it looks a bit different on everyone—on some people it's more brown, on some it's more mauve and then on me it's kinda marsala-raspberry. If you like YLOB ("your lips only better") shades, definitely give it a go.

Other Shades in the Line

And now a quick mention of the other colours in the line. I chose the ones above because I'm super-into the orange and YLOB families right now. (Also, I figured I already have a million reds and hot pinks, so better to go for the more unusual shades.) But here are the five others in the range, that I now NEED to get:

Whether or not you're into organics, I think you'll be impressed with Nudus!
