You know how on some red carpets, everyone's hair and makeup looks the same?
Well, today is not like that. Not at all! Lately, celebs have been showcasing an amazing array of different looks, including smoky eyes, colourful shadow, bright lips, warm neutrals and every hairstyle imaginable.
Here's this week's can't-miss beauty inspo:
Rachel gets our top spot this week, being Canadian and all—and also because this is one of her prettiest looks this year! We last saw her on the red carpet at TIFF, where things were a bit hit and miss. (Think: false lashes, streaky hair and aggressive lip colour.) But this time, she ditched all that for an overall softer look that suits her much better. Her blonde bob is simply adorable, and I love the strawberry red lipstick with the rose gold liner underneath her lower lashes. Her skin looks amazing!

Oh how I love a good smoky on Marion. This sooty grey-brown shadow is blended beautifully around her blue eyes, with a hint of shimmer on the inner half of her lids, and a darker liner in the waterlines. Also notice how well her upper and lower lashes are defined. (Can other celebs PLEASE take note? This is by far preferable to false ones.) Creamy peachy-pink lipstick and blush complete the look, with natural brows—and hair, for that matter. There's a great dressy-casual juxtaposition between her dramatic eye makeup and slightly messy bob.
Same person, completely different vibe. I love this, too! It's crazy how much lighting can change the appearance of your skin. Not that Marion's looked anything less than flawless before, but here, it's totally poreless and porcelain. The fuchsia lipstick provides the punch, paired with soft cat eyes, darkened brows and a wind-swept updo. I hesitate to even critique Marion, I am such a fan, but perhaps her brows could be a tiny bit thicker through the tails. (You know, so we can avoid a #spermbrow situation.)
Speaking of great skin, I don't think I fully appreciated Emmy's complexion before. She looks so pretty with less makeup than usual! This is just red lipstick with natural lashes, a tiny bit of liner and the most seamless blush. Her waves look fantastic as well. Very fresh and festive!
Second look for Emmy is her usual smoky eyes, but with a lighter hand. Often, we'll see her with a thicker, darker, smudgier line underneath her lower lashes. (Like here, for example.) But this look is more clean: skinny brown in the waterlines and a soft wash of taupe all the way up to the brows. I really like that she paired the eyes with naturally full brows and bare lips. Instead of her makeup, you focus on her great skin and pretty features—which is how it should be!

Naomie is such a beautiful woman, oh my goodness! This makeup is very similar to her peachy look from a few weeks back. It's still the most amazing colour with her complexion and glossy side-swept hair. The one exception to the perfection is the false lashes. (I actually just typed "falshes." Maybe that should be our new term!) There's not the worst ones I've seen, but she definitely didn't need them.
You've gotta respect a woman who does a smoky eye in bold teal blue! Lindsay actually did a great job here, as the technique is quite modern (one colour and kept to the upper lids, starting from the inner corners and then completely blended out). No liner was involved, but her lashes are mega-defined and jet black. The fresh skin, clear lip gloss and loose hair keep away any potential try-hard vibes. I don't know about you, but I'm into it.
Berries and burgundies are my favourite lip colours on Jamie. (Here's another example.) This lipstick has a hint of brown and a stained texture—and it's so chic and wintery with her braided updo. I can't recall if her brows were always this full, but they are looking incredible. Now... the false lashes. I don't love, but I don't hate, because they're giving her a bit of flirtiness and definition at the outer corners.
At first glance, Hailee seems, well, less polished than usual. (It's the hippie hair, which I actually like. Looks like she took out a bunch of braids to create the piecey, slightly fuzzy waves.) But then you get to the close-up and it's like... whoa! Bright purple and shiny gold, together, with a stained pink on the lips. It's a creative risk and I think it paid off! Also, her skin is looking really nice here.
Look at that gleam on Kiernan's cheek. And the smoothness of her forehead. Yep, her skin is ridiculously perfect. But don't let that get you down—she's only 16! That's also why her brows are so full, I'm sure of it. (Unlike some of us, who grew up in tweezer-happy times.) Anyway, this barely-there makeup is so pretty and age-appropriate. Her half-back hair, smooth on the top and textured on the bottom, is also great.
Danielle is here not for her hair (because I'd love to clean up those scraggly ends with a blunt cut). It's her eye makeup. Aren't you kind of mesmerized by how she did her eyeliner? Usually, I find black can look a bit harsh on lighter skin, but this was applied so expertly. It's in the waterlines most of the way around, but tapers into super-skinny lines at the inner corners. At the outer corners, it's thicker and blended out, so that it almost becomes one with her lashes. So great!
I'm also not crazy about Ashley's hair, but definitely like her eye makeup. Not the false lashes, of course (although they're not too bad). What I like is the big sweep of metallic silver underneath her lower lash lines. She paired it with black in her waterlines all the way around, and subtle smokiness on the upper lids. The bold silver adds dimension and makes her eyes really sparkle. I never would've thought to do this, but I'm gonna try it!
Last time we saw Greer, she was a brunette—I assume for a role—and I didn't love it. Thank goodness she's back to her usual blonde, which is so much more flattering. I'm not entirely sure it's the right tone of blonde, or maybe it's a foundation issue. (Slightly too yellow, on top of pinkish undertones?) Even still, I love her simple, long, straight hairstyle and freshly-scrubbed complexion vibes. Less makeup is the way to go on Greer.
Poppy's hair could use a little smoothing, but what got me here was her eyes. There's such a beautiful highlight (but not a shimmery highlight) at her inner corners, which is bringing out her unique green colour and shape. The thick black liner along the outer two thirds of her upper lash lines adds definition and frames her whole face. Love her skin and lip colour, too.
I want to brush out Olga's waves so badly, but that's not the focus here. It's her lip colour, obvs! Such an unusual bright coral pink and insanely pretty with her dark shiny hair and neutral complexion. There's a hint of the same on her cheeks, but it's really subtle, and so is her eye makeup. If only her hair was back, this would be killer!
I know, this seems almost exactly the same as Emma's look last week. And it is! The only discernible difference is that these false lashes are slightly better—although I'd still prefer her without them. Again, I'm very pleased to see Emma with shorter hair now, even if it's still too blonde. Her brows are so dark and perfect, and I love the creamy nude lipstick against her flawless skin.
First let me start off by saying the lips are bad. Real bad. I don't take issue with brown lipstick per se, but when it's surrounded by darker, unblended and over-drawn lip liner, the effect is not good. That being said, there's something about this entire palette of browns that looks kind of amazing on Zendaya, especially with the big curly hair. (Her best wig, in my opinion.) Yes, she is waaaaaay too heavy-handed, but the point is that browns on warm skin can actually be flattering.
Vanessa had one of my most favourite looks of 2015 the other week. But she just can't help reverting back to her beloved (and super-cray) false lashes and glitter. Eeks! This eye makeup was so not necessary when without it, she could look like this. However, I'm STILL in love with her new centre-parted straight lob, and these dark lipsticks on her—this time, a deep violet-berry. She has such a cute smile, one can almost forgive the eye makeup!
