One of the most annoying hair problems, in my not-so-humble opinion, has to be having an oily scalp and dry ends. How unfair is that?
I've tried easily 30 dry shampoos (product obsession is real), and most don't de-grease my hair in the slightest. Even our beloved Dove Dry Shampoo only buys me a few hours.
So I end up reinforcing my hair's imbalance by having to wash it every other day, followed up with a hair oil on my ends.
But recently, my #showerthoughts drifted to the fact that my hair hasn't been looking nearly as greasy when I go to wash it—and I haven't seen my bottle of Moroccanoil since August.
As I lathered on my Jack Black Nourishing Hair & Scalp Conditioner, I realized that THIS was the product that was answering my hair woes.
Most conditioners don't make my sad, dry ends feel hydrated enough, but this creamy formula feels like a super-rich, luxurious lotion that restores major softness to my hair.
I can even massage it directly on my scalp—which I'm usually wary of, for fear of creating greasy roots. But this stuff leaves my hair looking clean and shiny from roots to tips.
They understood that even our man-bun friends aren't going to keep conditioner away from their scalps, let alone guys with shorter hair. So it needed to hydrate well, without leaving any heavy, greasy residue—which it does!
The formula is packed with proteins, oils and botanical extracts. Here's the complete ingredients list:
Water (Aqua), Cetearyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Chloride, Cetrimonium Chloride, Panthenol, Ocimum Basilicum (Basil ) Extract*, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Macrocystis Pyrifera (Kelp) Extract*, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil*, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Oil, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Mentha Arvensis Oil, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Root Extract, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract, Hydrolyzed Rice Protein, Hydrolyzed Lupine Protein, Hydrolyzed Silk, Biotin, (Organic) Glycerin*, Spirulina Maxima Extract, Symphytum Officinale Leaf Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Macrocystis Pyrifera Extract, Euterpe Oleracea Fruit Extract, Cysteine, Dimethicone, Citric Acid, Glycerin, Hyaluronic Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate, Menthoxypropanediol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Propylene Glycol, Polyquaternium-24, Phenoxyethanol *Certified Organic
The two standouts for me here are tea tree oil and jojoba oil. Tea tree oil is an antibacterial astringent, so that's what I'm guessing is dispersing the oil production at my scalp. And jojoba oil is actually a wax that resembles human sebum, so it moisturizes my parched ends the way my natural scalp oils should.
All in all, these ingredients—plus the refreshing scent of peppermint and grapefruit—have meant fewer washes and fewer cuts for me. Total win!
