Last week, I went to a cocktail party hosted by Jessica Alba.
You know, just a normal Wednesday. (Ha!)
The 35-year-old actress and entrepreneur was in Toronto doing press for The Honest Company, the non-toxic beauty and household products brand she launched back in 2011.
While her wares have been at a select few Canadian retailers for about a year or so, the big news (and reason for her trip) is that they're now available in more than 700 stores nationwide. How exciting for those of us who are into natural products!
If you follow me on social media, then you've already seen some behind-the-scenes footage of the event. Sometimes when celebs come to town, they're very guarded and only do a quick speech before they're whisked away by their handlers. Not Jessica—I was so impressed that she freely mingled with the editors and posed for photos with us all.
Speaking of which... I don't think this woman has ever taken a bad picture in her life. In case you were wondering, she is just as gorgeous in person, and taller than I imagined. Also super-stylish: she wore a navy blue satin jumpsuit with half-up hair and bold charcoal smoky eyes, and looked perfect.
Note to self: wear more makeup to cocktail parties with Jessica Alba.
Here's her speech to the intimate gathering of Canadian editors. (The guy is her co-founder and chief product officer, Christopher Gavigan.)
A closer look at Jessica's flawless hair and makeup (sorry, the lighting was not great)...
And below is her hair and makeup team—Daniel Martin and Jennifer Yepez. I got to spend a good few minutes chatting to them, and they're LOVELY.
(Call me crazy, but meeting celebrity hair and makeup artists is almost more exciting to me than talking to the celebrities themselves!)
Daniel, who is also Honest Beauty's creative colour consultant, did Jessica's makeup using this lip gloss in Dreamy Kiss. Jennifer Yepez, who is The Honest Company's hair ambassador, styled Jessica's hair.
Alas... Honest Beauty, the makeup arm of the company, won't be in Canada until sometime next year!
For now, here are a few of the products you can try.
The Honest Company Organic All-Purpose Balm
The Organic All-Purpose Balm treats sensitive, irritated or chapped skin—anywhere that needs a little extra TLC.
The Honest Company Honest Face + Body Lotion
The Honest Face + Body Lotion is a lightweight moisturizing lotion that can be used head to toe.
The Honest Company Honest Shampoo + Body Wash
The Shampoo + Body Wash is sulfate-free and gentle enough for colour-treated hair... and babies!
The Honest Company Honest Conditioner
The matching Honest Conditioner is silicone-free and suitable for all hair types.
The Honest Company Honest Detangler
Jessica's hairstylist Jennifer raved about the leave-in Honest Detangler, which again, conditions the hair without silicones. She recently used it on Kim Kardashian as well.
The Honest Company Honest Wipes
Christopher, Jessica's co-founder, told me these Honest Wipes are one of the brand's top sellers. They're not just for babies—you could use them for your face or body, as a more natural alternative to mainstream cleansing cloths (which are almost always full of weird chemicals).
Christopher said the sunscreens are coming to Canada, too, but if you ask me, I'd stay away from those and check out these options instead! (Sorry, Jessica...)
