"There are no shortcuts to great skin," says Miranda Kerr.
That's why the 36-year-old supermodel is committed to all things organic—inside and out.
She has famously credited her glowing complexion to lots of Noni juice (an antioxidant-rich fruit native to Australasia), and daily spoonfuls of coconut oil.
What you might not know is that Miranda is also a certified health coach, having studied nutrition in both the US and Australia before she skyrocketed to fame as a Victoria's Secret Angel.
Naturally, she's equally mindful of healthy skincare. When she couldn't find any certified-organic products that delivered results, she created her own line: Kora Organics. "I want people to be more aware of what they're putting on to their skin and the potential harm or risk those chemicals carry," she told Gritty Pretty. "Healthy skin is beautiful skin!"
I think we can all agree that Miranda's dedication to healthy living is paying off. I've never, EVER seen her skin look anything less than flawless!
"I believe in simple steps: cleanse, exfoliate, tone, moisturize, and a mask once a week," she told Into The Gloss. Here's what's involved in her routine:
Miranda’s Morning Skincare Routine
Kora Organics Foaming Cleanser: "Every morning, I wash my face with [this]. It's a gentle, soap-free foaming cleanser."
Kora Organics Turmeric Brightening & Exfoliating Mask: "Then I use the Turmeric two-in-one as a gentle exfoliant in the morning. It's good not only because it contains turmeric, which is good for pigmentation—something I've long suffered from personally—and it's got all those natural enzymes which are good for sloughing all the dead skin off. But it's also got peppermint oil, which is obviously good for sebum production, but I personally love that it's so uplifting. In the morning it's better than a coffee—it's like, 'Woo!' It's so invigorating with the shower going. I can't live without it. I probably shouldn't do it every day but I have been tired so I have been."
3. Face Mists:
Kora Organics Balancing Rose Mist: "Once my face is cleansed, I then mist all over with the Kora Rose Balancing Mist. And this mist serves a dual purpose because I use it with my NuFace."
Kora Organics Energising Citrus Mist: "I use our citrus mist in the day because it's energizing and the aromatherapy benefits of it are really incredible. I'm obsessed with them."
NuFace Trinity Facial Toning Device: "NuFace is a little lifting machine which needs to be activated with water or gel. I like to actually lift a little [near my eyes]."
5. Face Oil:
Kora Organics Noni Glow Face Oil: "I then apply Kora Organics Noni Glow, a couple of drops. I use this morning and night religiously. It has Noni extract, rose hip, pomegranate oil, sea buckhorn—it has so many antioxidants."
Kora Organics Hydrating Moisturizer: "Because my skin is naturally dry, I use this moisturizer morning and night."
Kora Organics Soothing Moisturizer: "My moisturizer depends on the state of my skin, so sometimes I'll use [this]."
Kora Organics Purifying Moisturizer: "Or, if I'm having a bit of a breakout, I'll use Purifying day and night cream."
7. Eye Oil:
Kora Organics Noni Radiant Eye Oil: "It is so quick and easy to put it on. It is not fussy, you just open it up and you just roll it on."
8. Gua Sha:
Kora Organics Rose Quartz Heart Facial Sculptor: "I start by massaging in Kora Organics’ Hydrating Moisturizer and Noni Radiant Eye Oil with the Rose Quartz Heart Facial Sculptor. I find that my face, especially in the morning, is really puffy, so massaging it is really such a good way to stimulate circulation. I notice a big difference with my skin when I use this crystal because I just feel that it wakes up my skin and it reduces the puffiness. It improves circulation and the way that it curves, you can really get into the jawline and... the eye area and you can just wake up those certain areas. You can really promote that lymphatic drainage that eliminates the toxins.”
Actinica Liposomal Sunscreen SPF 50+: "[Australians] take sun protection pretty seriously. I'm always in a big hat and cover my face as much as possible. I use Actinica, which is 50+ and protects against UVA and UVB."
RMS Beauty "Un" Cover-Up: "I like to keep it natural. I will use just a little bit of concealer, RMS concealer in number 22. [Or I mix it with] Noni Glow Face Oil... and use that as my foundation."
Kora Organics Rose Quartz Luminizer: "It's really magical and I use that on my cheekbones and brow bones."
12. Lip Balm/Colour:
Kora Organics Noni Lip Tint: "Then I will do just a little lip balm and call it a day."
RMS Beauty Lip2Cheek: "I finish with RMS Beauty's Lip2Cheek in Promise dabbed into cheeks and over my lips as a tint."
Miranda’s Nighttime Skincare Routine
Kora Organics Cream Cleanser: "Pretty much as soon as I get home from work, I like to just take off my makeup and slip into a robe. We have a really great cream cleanser, which I love to use to remove makeup because it's really gentle."
2. Face Mist:
Kora Organics Calming Lavender Mist: "I will tone my skin with a lavender mist at night because it calms and helps promote restful sleep."
3. Face Oil:
Kora Organics Noni Glow Face Oil: "This face oil is so hydrating and it also balances the pH of your skin. I use it every night, I wake up, and my skin is literally glowing."
Kora Organics Hydrating Moisturizer: "I like to mix it with a few drops of the Noni Glow Face Oil for extra hydration."
5. Gua Sha:
Kora Organics Rose Quartz Heart Facial Sculptor: "A new step to my morning and evening beauty routine is using a rose quartz gua sha stone to practice the ancient healing technique. It's used to massage your face and neck to stimulate circulation and reduce puffiness while lifting, toning, and sculpting. I use this technique daily for a five-minute facial massage with a facial oil as it also helps it absorb deeper into your skin."
6. Sleeping Mask:
Kora Organics Noni Glow Sleeping Mask: "I sleep in [it], which makes my skin looks super fresh and bouncy each morning. It's a gel-like mask full of natural hyaluronic acid and it dries as a translucent film over your skin to lock in moisture without rubbing off onto your pillow."
Miranda’s Skin Treatments
Kora Organics Turmeric Brightening & Exfoliating Mask: "When I have time to actually leave the mask on, which is two to three times a week, I will do it when I'm multitasking. I can put it on before I breastfeed or put it on while I am making breakfast. I will put my mask on when I am doing those things and then I will jump into the shower to wash it off."
Kora Organics Clay Purifying Mask: "[In the evening] I'll use a face mask, which I love putting on when I'm either doing yoga or taking a bath. I like to feel like I'm doing something when I have the face mask on. I'll put the Purifying Mask on my T-zone."
"Michelle Peck and her daughter Tarin travel with Madonna to do her facials, and she taught me how to use an at-home oxygen facial machine, so I can do it myself."
"I like to make a cold cucumber mask to use on my face. You have to make sure the cucumbers are very cold and then grate them to make the mask. I also use cold cucumbers on my eyes if I wake up and my eyes are puffy. It really works for me."
"Fill your basin with a jug of freshly boiled water, add an organic green tea bag to the water, place your head over the basin and cover with a large towel… let the steam envelope your face for a few minutes to open your pores."
"After travelling I love to get into my portable infrared sauna. You literally get inside of it and then you can fold it up and put it underneath your bed once you've finished. It's one of my all-time favourite purchases. My body feels so good after sweating it out in there. It's an amazing way to detox your body!"
"I like to rinse my body with cold water when I have a shower. I have it on really nice and warm, then you go super-cold. It feels so invigorating and is so good for your scalp and your face, it really wakes you up."
"Another thing I do is take a bath. I make it super hot and I put a pound of baking soda and a pound of sea salt and that draws [the toxins] out of your body."
Miranda’s Diet, Exercise and Lifestyle
"I drink Noni juice, and so does my son. You notice a big difference. It has over a hundred vitamins and minerals. I've been drinking it since I was 13 years old. It's honestly been the key to my health and the reason my skin looks the way it does."
"I like to start the day with warm water and lemon. I feel like that really helps kick start digestion for the rest of the day. I follow this with a cold pressed green juice."
"I try my best to eat healthy, organic foods 80 per cent of the time but it's also important not to deprive yourself of things because then you just crave it more and rather than eating one piece of chocolate, you'll devour the whole block!"
"I like to have lots of yummy, healthy treats. There are lots of fresh berries, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries [in my fridge]. I always have lots of greens, like kale and cucumber and baby spinach and celery. I try to avoid dairy and stick to goat's milk now, because goats only have one stomach like us, so we can absorb the calcium from them better than we can from cows."
Coconut oil: "I will not go a day without coconut oil. I personally take four tablespoons per day, either on my salads, in my cooking or in my cups of green tea."
Kora Organics Noni Glow Skinfood Dietary Supplement Powder: "This is a superfood supplement. It's so easy to travel with. It's a single-serve sachet, so you empty this into water and then you drink it. It's for your skin so that you are glowing from the inside out. And it also is great for energy."
"I also take chlorella daily, vitamin C, and probiotics. If you have a healthy gut you have a healthy brain and generally a healthy body—I think that is so important."
IV Vitamin Therapy:
"With all of my travel and flying, it's really hard to stay hydrated. And [the IV is] really hydrating."
"I do Kundalini. It's quite intense, it just makes your aura feel amazing. After I've done yoga, people are like 'oh you look fresh.'"
"My routine varies each day depending on how much time I have, and I like to mix it up between Kundalini yoga, pilates, swimming, resistance training. If I have a shoot coming up, I target specific areas."
Ballet Beautiful: "I haven't felt under pressure to get back into shape as quickly since leaving Victoria's Secret, because I don't have to be in my underwear on the runway. After having Flynn, I had to immediately get back to doing six days a week of intense workouts, but now I do lighter exercise such as Mary Helen Bowers' ballet DVDs and walking."
"I'm a big fan of transcendental meditation and prayer. I like to do a prayer in the morning and a prayer at night. And I try and do meditation at least once a day for 20 minutes. Sometimes what I'll do, if there's a lot of things going on around me, I'll put my headphones in. I close my eyes and put focus on my mantras. With my prayers I say thank you for my health, my family and my friends, ask God to bless my day. If I'm doing a photo shoot, I'll ask to please uplift everyone involved in the shoot—the intention is to create a happy day. It's also nice to pray for anyone that's struggling or having a hard time, you can send them love."
"I like to carry a small rose quartz crystal with me in my handbag. It encourages healthy self-love, and can bestow compassion, forgiveness and acceptance. Rose quartz is also soothing, calming and reduces stress and tension."
"Sleep is so crucial for your overall wellness. I like to do a meditation, turn off the WiFi, and then mist my face and pillow with the Calming Mist as the aromatherapy is very soothing and relaxing."
