Confession: whenever people ask me what I want for Christmas, I honestly can't think of anything.
Not because I don't like presents, mind you. It's because I've already bought almost everything on my list for myself!
And I'm not alone—according to the National Retail Federation, 70 percent of shoppers now practice self-gifting.
Hey, you have to love yourself before anyone else can, right?
If you know somebody that'll treat you to one of them, consider yourself lucky! Otherwise, read on for my favourite "to me, from me" gift ideas...
The Best Luxury Beauty Gifts
Charlotte Tilbury Naughty and Nice Magic Box
Charlotte Tilbury Naughty and Nice Magic Box is a beauty lover's DREAM. Similar to an advent calendar, it's filled with 12 makeup treats ranging from lip gloss to eyeshadow to mascara (many full-sized!). When you're done, you can use it as a jewellery box.
Resurface by Shani Darden Retinol Reform
Give yourself the gift of better skin with a new retinol regimen. Ever wondered how celebrities get such perfect complexions? A lot of it has to do with Resurface by Shani Darden Retinol Reform. I reviewed it here and it's still one of my favourite retinols, especially for acne-prone skin.
Bite Beauty Matte Crème Lip Crayon Collection
Imagine having a complete wardrobe of creamy matte lip crayons in a rainbow of colours. That's what you get with Bite Beauty's Matte Crème Lip Crayon Collection, which includes 18 of them (deluxe-sized, but as you can see in the photo at the top, they're quite big). When you do the math, you're getting them at one third of the regular price!
Bobbi Brown Classic Brush Set
You deserve better makeup brushes. My pick is the Bobbi Brown Classic Brush Set, which has everything you need (and nothing you don't, like contour brushes!). I have an older version of this set, and of all the brushes I've owned over the years, these have held up the best.
RMS Beauty Luminizer Set
Want to fool people into thinking you have better, more radiant skin? You NEED luminizer. The RMS Beauty Luminizer Set gives you three shades (including a gold one that's never been released before), plus a retractable brush.
Déesse Pro LED Mask
Okay, it's a major splurge, but the Déesse Pro LED Mask emits various wavelength combos of LED light, treating everything from fine lines to pigmentation to acne. Fans include Emma Stone, Jessica Alba and celeb facialists Shani Darden and Georgia Louise.
The Detox Market The Best of Green Beauty Box
If you're a green beauty junkie, you'll have so much fun opening The Detox Market's The Best of Green Beauty Box. This year's version has more than $300 worth of goodies, including full sizes of the RMS Beauty Vintage Cake Liner, Odacité Green Ceremony Cleanser and MV Skincare Rose Soothing & Protective Moisturizer.
SK-II Pitera Essence Set
I don't think most luxury skincare products are worth it, let alone their gift sets, but the SK-II Pitera Essence Set is an exception! You get their famous essence, sheet mask and a mild acid-based lotion—all with surprisingly clean ingredients lists. Any type of skin could use these for brightening and lightweight hydration.
Marc Jacobs Cosmetic Bag
If your makeup bag is looking a bit worse for wear, why not upgrade to the Marc Jacobs Cosmetic Bag? Recently, I did just that, and I couldn't be more pleased with it. It's the perfect size (roomy but not too big for your purse) and made of durable nylon with bright gold accents.
Mason Pearson Hair Brush
NuFace Trinity Facial Trainer Kit
If you want a little rejuvenation, but are hoping to avoid going the injectable route, I strongly recommend microcurrent. I use the NuFace Trinity Facial Trainer Kit—well, actually I bought all the parts separately and paid more, so don't make my mistake! You get two attachments (one for eyes/lips and one for the rest of your face), a charging stand and the conductivity gel. This will retrain your facial muscles to stay lifted and firm!
ZIIP Nano Current Device
The ZIIP Nano Current Device is the new gadget everyone's buzzing about lately, and it's along the same lines as the NuFace—except it's a nanocurrent (a lower frequency than microcurrent). No word yet on which one is "better," but I'm going to self-gift this so I can find out!
My number one most-recommended skincare product over the years has to be Consonant HydrExtreme, an all-natural hydrating serum. It's pricey, yes, but once you try it, I'm confident that you'll see why I rave about it so much! My original review is over here.
If you can't get hold of HydrExtreme, another great option is Omorovicza's Omoressence. Ounce for ounce, it actually works out to be cheaper, and you get similar weightless hydration (that can be worn alone or layered underneath creams or oils). This is new to my skincare routine and I love it.
Vitruvi Stone Essential Oil Diffuser
If you don't own an essential oil diffuser yet, you are missing out! I never burn candles anymore because the diffuser is just easier and safer. (You add water and oil, and plug it in. Voilà, a soft stream of essential-oil-infused steam!) The Vitruvi Stone Essential Oil Diffuser is the most gorgeous one I've seen.
Red Light Man Red Light Device
Maybe the Red Light Man Red Light Device isn't what you'd think of as a "luxury" item, but trust me—its output is more powerful than any light therapy device I've seen (yes, I'd say even the Déesse). That means less treatment time and faster results! Now is the time to get on the red light train to counteract winter darkness and improve all aspects of skin health.
Tom Ford Fucking Fabulous
Last but not least, I can't think of a better gift to you, from you, than Tom Ford Fucking Fabulous. This is the mantra you need every morning to conquer your day!
