From creative brights to old Hollywood glamour to no-makeup makeup... the latest celebrity beauty looks cover it all!
Here's what's been happening on red carpets lately, including Katherine Langford's bold cat eyes, Blake Lively's dramatic lips and more:
What I like: Katherine's bright blue cat eyes, feathered brows, flushed cheeks and what appears to be gelled wavy hair. It's like a modern take on '80s beauty! What I'd change: Something's off with her lips... overdone injections, I think!
What I like: Blake's glam waves and sculpted Ombré lips (achieved using a brown eyeliner over red lipstick). So much better than her disappointing Met Gala look! What I'd change: I'm not in love with the lashes, but at least they're soft. I feel like a brow mascara would help give her brows more definition and improve the shape.
Blake is wearing: Lipstick in Dare
What I like: Jessica's monochromatic hair and makeup. I especially love her soft Ombré highlights and barely-there waves. Also, I've never seen brown lip gloss look this good! What I'd change: Nothing.
What I like: Elizabeth's seemingly bare skin with chunky lashes and matte red lipstick. She's back to brown hair again; either she darkened it or these highlights just grew out. What I'd change: Nothing.
What I like: Zoë's no-makeup makeup and voluminous hair with a bit of "bend." I especially like the texture of her lashes—so soft and natural. What I'd change: The brow pencil isn't quite a match. I would try to create a faux shadow in an ashier colour to straighten her brows' shape.
What I like: Dakota's face-framing bangs and messy updo, with angled grey shadow and rose lipstick. Her skin looks so fresh, and the brows and lashes are perfect. Makeup doesn't get better than this! What I'd change: Nothing.
What I like: Katie's chic bob (it's grown so fast!) and shimmery shadow. It looks like there's a pinky lavender smudged around her eyes, paired with a pale peachy-pink for the lipstick. I love this idea instead of using dark shades! What I'd change: Nothing.
What I like: Margot's "oil slick" eyes, as her makeup artist calls them. It's not just the glossy grey shadow that's interesting—she's also wearing electric blue mascara on her upper lashes! An updo keeps the focus on the makeup. What I'd change: Nothing. (I don't mind the messy brows!)
What I like: Amber's orange lipstick and gorgeous blonde waves. The gold shadow was a nice idea (even if I have a few qualms about the application). What I'd change: I would've concentrated the gold closer to the lash lines and skipped the false lashes. Also, I don't think gold ever really works on pale people as an inner corner highlight.
What I like: Thandie's matching mauve lips and shadow. The colour is all the way around her eyes, with black waterlines to add drama. It's a great choice, along with the updo, for a high neckline. What I'd change: I'd love to see what she'd look like with more of a brow.
What I like: Sandra's shimmery, smoky shadow with long lashes and feathered brows. I love this eye makeup so much! It works well with the hint of colour on lips and cheeks, and long, textured hair. What I'd change: Her cheeks seem a bit too filled, but otherwise, she looks great.
What I like: Rachel's pretty, medium-pink lipstick with flushed cheeks and low-key eye makeup. The updo's not my favourite, but she must be growing out her bob. What I'd change: Nothing.
What I like: Brie's side-swept straight hair and super-natural makeup. I think this is more about textures than colours—the shimmery nude shadow all the way up to her brows, and the clear glossy lips. What I'd change: Nothing.
What I like: Morena's bold green eyeshadow from lash line to crease. So fun! It contrasts beautifully with her fresh skin and pink-stained lips and cheeks. What I'd change: I don't like the false lashes, and I think the brows are a little overworked (you can see their natural state here).
What I like: Hailey's pink lipstick, blush and matching hair (which she has since dyed back to blonde). And she wears a cat eye like nobody's business. What I'd change: I think her hairstyle was cuter at the Met Gala (less volume on top).
What I like: Emilia's glossy nude lipstick, long lashes and natural, luminous skin. This is a huge improvement over that Met Gala makeup fail! I think the updo helps de-emphasize the bleach blonde. What I'd change: Just waiting for her return to brunette!
What I like: Mandy's super-glowy skin and orange lipstick. This is her go-to hairstyle, and her brows are always on point. What I'd change: Nothing.
What I like: Jaime's peach lipstick with matching blush and eyeshadow. Brows are perfect, and there's a little bit of luminizer happening at her inner corners. What I'd change: The short, piecey, curly bangs are not a good look. I absolutely loved her Oscars hair—the lengths were also curled, but she wore her bangs long and straight.
What I like: Kristen's bright lipstick, updo with face-framing pieces, and oversized hoop earrings. This suits her so much more than what she wore to the Golden Globes last year! What I'd change: Her under-eye concealer is too light.
What I like: Krysten's sheer, glossy red lipstick, black liner and defined lashes. Her eyeshadow also has a reddish tone. With her big doe eyes, she's got lots of room to play! What I'd change: Nothing.
What I like: Gwyneth's long, straight, honey-toned hair. The slightly darker colour is a softer look than her former light yellow blonde. The shimmer really brings out the sparkle in her eyes. I also appreciate seeing natural lips and forehead lines! What I'd change: Her skin texture looks a bit rough... not sure if the foundation is accentuating that?
What I like: Scarlett's bright purple smoky eyes. Why not, right? She wore them right (makeup-wise, at least), with soft brows and lashes, and nude lips and cheeks. What I'd change: The hair is still problematic, as we observed at the Met Gala! This would be better worn sleek and tight-to-the-head.
What I like: Leighton's berry lip gloss and natural, glowing skin. I feel like her newly blonde hair makes her skin stand out more. I think she has been itching to go lighter for a while! What I'd change: No hair colour could EVER compare to her brunette. Blair Waldorf forever! If she really must be blonde, something darker and more honey-toned would be better.
