If you noticed Olivia Wilde's skin looking extra-flawless lately, you're not alone.
"It's much more glowy and it just feels healthier and clearer," the actress herself recently admitted to People.
But it's not because of pregnancy hormones, to which she had attributed her glow in the past. ("Get knocked up! That's my skincare regimen," she once told InStyle. "Having a kid is really good for your skin.")
Rather, she says the changes are from her new, all-natural skincare routine. It features mostly products from True Botanicals—an indie line she loves so much, she became its ambassador.
Olivia not only credits the brand for clearing up her adult acne, but also for reducing signs of aging. "Honestly, I think fine lines and wrinkles—I know it sounds so lame because I'm not ancient—but still, in your early 30s you start to see things. I have noticed less of them... especially with my eyes and skin texture."
"I feel so much more comfortable in my skin. I glow. My skin is clear and dewy," she told W Magazine.
AGREED! Here's the lowdown on Olivia's routine:
Olivia's Morning Skincare Routine
True Botanicals Clear Hydrating Cleanser: "In the morning, I wash my face with the True Botanicals Clear face wash to keep acne at bay. It's really gentle."
Ursa Major Essential Face Wipes: "If I'm leaving a workout, and am too lazy to shower, I use Ursa Major Essential Face Wipes to clean my skin as I hop on the subway. They clean and moisturize, which is very helpful."
2. Face Mist:
True Botanicals Renew Nutrient Mist: "Then I spritz on some of the Nutrient Mist. Of all the True Botanicals products, it's one of my favourites. It always smells amazing. The mist I use throughout the day, travelling, it's a good thing before makeup, and it also sets makeup really well. Kind of keeps it dewy and fresh.”
3. Face Oils:
True Botanicals Clear Pure Radiance Oil: "I use the brand's face oils, too. If I'm having breakouts, I use the one they have for clearing up skin. I use [it] on the bottom of my face. That’s where I tend to break out with hormonal acne, like on my chin and my cheeks. I'd always struggled with hormonal adult acne. I didn't understand that a face oil could be an antibacterial treatment and completely clear up my skin."
True Botanicals Renew Pure Radiance Oil: "I use Renew, which is really hydrating and anti-aging, on the top half of my face. It actually goes into your skin; it doesn't sit on the surface, it doesn't make your makeup slip off. I don't use any moisturizer, I just use this."
True Botanicals Everyday Sheer Coverage SPF 20: "And then the tinted SPF."
Glossier Stretch Concealer: "For everyday makeup... some Glossier Stretch Concealer, which I love. It has nice coverage, but it's not cake-y and blends really easily."
6. Lip Balm:
Olivia's Nighttime Skincare Routine
1. Makeup Remover:
True Botanicals Pre Cleanse Oil: "Every night, I take off makeup with the pre-cleanse oil."
True Botanicals Clear Hydrating Cleanser: "At night, I use the same face wash."
3. Face Oil
True Botanicals Renew Pure Radiance Oil: "Then I use the renewal oil. [It] is my absolutely number one favourite must-have product, and I use it twice a day. It is not greasy, it absorbs directly into the skin... and it outperformed La Mer in a blind clinical trial for anti-aging, so count me in."
True Botanicals Renew Cellular Repair Serum: "The Cellular Repair Serum is the best serum I've found."
True Botanicals Vitamin C Booster: "I mix [the serum] with the vitamin C powder three times a week. It makes my skin feel younger, without burning off five layers of skin."
True Botanicals Antioxidant Booster: "Three or four times a week, I mix the serum with the antioxidant booster. The booster is made from the same chemical that's in apple peels, which makes sense since it preserves the apple."
Olivia's Skin Treatments
True Botanicals Resurfacing Moisture Mask: "It feels like a little spa moment. Working really hard, and then devoting any free time to my family, I really value the time when I am by myself and I get to sit there and take a bath, put on the mask, use the oils. It should be about self-love."
Kate Somerville: "I love her salon in LA."
Black Tea Bags:
"I'm not great about eye cream. Although I do use black tea bags that have been steeped and chilled—the caffeine is good for de-puffing. So, I just keep them in my bag. They work best cold."
Pursoma Resurrection Bath: "I am a woman who loves a hot, Epsom salt-filled bath. Pursoma Resurrect me right up.”
Olivia's Diet, Exercise and Lifestyle
"My diet is a total mess. I'm a New Yorker, so I eat out too much. In the winter, especially, I love heavy, rich, decadent meals. I'd rather eat more and have to work out a little more than not eat what I want to eat."
Water and Sleep:
"I just think as you get older, you should intensify the self-care a bit. It's internal, like the amount of water you're drinking and how much sleep you're getting."
Tracy Anderson: "It really does work. It's so, so hard. I had to shoot a movie three months after having my daughter, and going to Tracy a couple times a week really helped me. I learned to love it. I am so weak right now, but when I do jump back in, I'll go there."
Broadway Dance Center: "I also love to dance. I'm lucky that my sister-in-law is one of the best dancers in the city. Her name is Kristin Sudeikis, and she teaches at Broadway Dance Center and a few other places. She has a Friday night dance party that is amazing. It’s a really good workout but also a scene."
SoulCycle: "There's something great about the in and out of SoulCycle. It's 45 minutes of extreme intensity."
Y7: "I love yoga. I like Y7, and it's good for the independent-minded yogi who isn't there for group therapy. They turn up hip-hop really loud. They'll blast A Tribe Called Quest. And it's about 90 degrees in the room. When it's super-cold out, it's a necessary visit."
Modrn Sanctuary: "I do acupuncture, and I'm a big believer, but I was late to the game. I go to Modrn Sanctuary in NoMad. That place is a magical one-stop shop for wellness. I see Shari Auth for acupuncture."
"If you're happy and healthy, it shows. Cleanses and products don't make you look more beautiful. They certainly help, but if you reach contentment, you're set. My makeup artist, Mélanie Inglessis, couldn't figure out why my skin looks so good. I think it's because I'm happy!"
