People's Choice Awards 2018 beauty looks

It's been a while since we had a People's Choice red carpet to gawk at—the 2017 Awards took place almost two years ago, in fact!

For 2018, last night's ceremony established a new tradition: moving forward, the event will now be held every November... which means award season has officially begun!

As always, I've got the skin, hair and makeup you need to see. Read on for the best looks of the night...

Scarlett Johansson

What I like: Scarlett's slicked-back blonde bob—I'm so happy she got rid of that "Mom" cut and colour! The dramatic winged liner has such an interesting application; it goes all the way around the eyes, except for right underneath each pupil. What I'd change: The blush/contour is a tad heavy.

Kat Graham

What I like: Kat's bob with long bangs (possibly a wig?). I'm obsessed with bobs on this woman! Her makeup is far subtler than usual, with nude lips, matching blush and black liner. What I'd change: I don't mind the lip liner, but the foundation is too heavy through her mid-face.

Christina Hendricks

What I like: Christina's bright red lips, stained cheeks and flawless skin. Does she even age?! The swipe of metallic liner under each eye is a clever way to add shine. I'm not sure if this is also a wig, but I love her hair's soft texture and baby bangs. What I'd change: Nothing.

Christina is wearing: Lip liner in InfraRed (all over lips) • Lip balm

Shay Mitchell

What I like: Shay's monochromatic lips, cheeks and eyes—but with an unexpected iridescent lilac shadow at the inner corners. I think it works because her hair is neat and tidy, and the lashes are super-soft. What I'd change: Up close, it's a little "done".. I might tone down the contouring and make the mouth less precise.

Busy Philipps

What I like: Busy's glittery eyeshadow, baby pink lip gloss and matching blush. Her dark brows frame her face so well, she only needs mascara, no liner. What I'd change: While I like the waves for a casual look, I think an updo would be much better with this dress and necklace.

Busy is wearing: Eyeshadow in Moondust

Danai Gurira

What I like: Danai's radiant skin (like MEGA radiant!), juicy red lips and bold blush. I also love her textured hair, pinned up on one side. What I'd change: The lashes are so crazy... half that length would be plenty!

Sabrina Carpenter

What I like: Sabrina's precise black liner, which starts in little "Vs" at the tear ducts and extends out into thicker wings. Holy makeup skills! I always love a coral lip, and the orange shadow is unexpected and fun. What I'd change: Unfortunately, her skin tone looks quite orange as well! Something is off with her heavy-handed foundation and/or powder.

Sabrina is wearing: Eyeliner in Black

Camila Mendes

What I like: Camila's bouncy blowout and simple makeup. She's wearing a sheer, gold-toned shadow up to her brows, with long lashes, her signature arched brows, and a rosy tinted balm. What I'd change: Her foundation shade is a tad too light compared to her neck and chest. I'd also love to see her make a bolder beauty statement!

Camila is wearing: Lip balm in Dazzling Ruby (on lips and cheeks)

Chrissy Teigen

What I like: Chrissy's glowing cheeks, matte rose lips and loose updo with side-swept bangs. What I'd change: Bottom false lashes never look good to me! And her upper lip is too overdrawn. Wouldn't it be nice to see her in brights instead of these muddy tones, for once?

Rita Ora

What I like: Rita's brown smoky eyes with a dusting of bright gold at the inner corners. Pink gloss is a less predictable choice than a nude. I'm not in love with the lashes, but I think she pulls them off here. What I'd change: The contour seems heavy, or maybe it's her under-eye area that is too light.

Mila Kunis

What I like: Mila's silvery-brown shadow with lush lashes and black waterlines. Smoky eyes are just mesmerizing on her! The pinky lip colour and texture give the makeup a more lived-in look. What I'd change: I think this lighting is unflattering, but she could probably use more coverage around her nose and under her eyes.

Victoria Beckham

What I like: Victoria's low ponytail with loose, face-framing pieces. The makeup is super-understated, with long lashes, strong brows and foundation that is sheer enough to show her freckles. What I'd change: Her translucent powder isn't quite blended, and I would just blot the lipstick.

Amber Valletta

What I like: Amber's barely-there makeup and slick updo (that only models can can pull off!). What I'd change: I love the idea of emphasizing the upper lashes and lower waterlines... but I think the liner colour should be darker and not so red.

Betty Gilpin

What I like: Betty's romantic, wavy updo and "English rose" makeup. I love the rosy cheeks, soft lips, and shimmery, pinky-taupe shadow—especially paired with the complete opposite, a stark red dress! What I'd change: I feel like this is missing a statement earring.

Susan Kelechi Watson

What I like: Susan's straight, side-parted hair and pastel pink lipstick. What I'd change: If only she'd worn the lip with a cleaner eye! The false lashes and heavy shadow make it look dated, but it would've been great with natural lashes and glossy nude eyes.

Who had your favourite (and least favourite) beauty look on this red carpet?
