About Henné Organics
Henné Organics launched in 2015, but before that, founder Laura Xiao was whipping up natural lip products for her own use and to give to friends.
She'd recently returned to the US after living in Sweden, Denmark, Australia and New Zealand, and found that the dry climate was doing a number on her lips. At the same time, she'd discovered an appreciation for Scandinavian minimalist design, as well as a desire to use non-toxic products.
It all came together with Henné, which is derived from the Swedish word "henne," meaning "her."
I met Laura in person last year, and she told me that the brand will be focusing on all things lips for now—elevating the category with cleaner ingredients and chic, modern packaging. I'd say she's done just that!
Henné Organics Luxury Lip Tints
The Luxury Lip Tints are all about nourishing the lips and delivering a sheer flush of colour.
Compared to other lip balms, these are exceptionally hydrating. That's because they're high in emollient oils including coconut, castor seed, jojoba and avocado.
They're also free of the irritants that you usually find in most products. Take a look at the ingredients list for the shade called Bare:
Organic Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Organic Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Organic Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Organic Cera Alba (Beeswax), Organic Persea Americana (Avocado) Oil, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxide, Tocopherol (Vitamin E).
I would 100 percent recommend these if you are looking for a good daytime balm to repair and prevent chapped lips. And if you're like me and are sensitive to vitamin E, don't even worry about it in this product. Laura assured me that she only added a very small amount (as an antioxidant), and I've experienced zero issues after wearing these non-stop!

Henné Organics Luxury Lip Tint Shades and Texture
Besides the ultimate hydrating formula, the texture and colours of these Lip Tints are just right.
They have, like, the perfect amount of balminess (not a word but I'm going with it). They're not waxy, not oily, not too thin nor too thick.
And they're really long-lasting. Initially, the finish has a slight sheen, but then it gradually fades into a soft semi-matte stain after about three or four hours. (No leftover flaky bits like you get with lipstick!)
As for the pigment, the four colours go on sheer, but are very much buildable if you want a bolder, more opaque tint. Since they let some of your natural lip tone peek through, they'll look slightly different on everyone.
Here's a closer look at each one on me!
Bare is described as a delicate pinky nude. I rarely find nude lips flattering on me, but I absolutely love this shade! I think it's because my own lips are quite pigmented, so they're making this colour look more rosy than beige. It gives a lot more "life" to my lips compared to the usual chalky opaque nudes! I usually wear this with a stronger eye, or when I'm feeling like a no-makeup makeup day.
Coral is described as a peachy orange-pink—a true coral. This shade is universally flattering, so if you buy just one, I recommend this! Since I've never met a coral I didn't like, I'm particularly obsessed. You can dress it up, you can dress it down, and it always brings warmth and glow to your skin. The mica gives it just a hint of iridescence for extra dimension.
Azalea is described as a vibrant pink magenta. I used to wear this shade in matte lipstick form back in the day (circa 2011-ish), but now that feels like "too much"—this doesn't. It has the same face-brightening effect, but it's far more wearable and versatile, thanks to the sheerness.
Intrigue is described as a merlot or brick red, and is the most intense and pigmented shade of the bunch. Really, this one is as bold as a regular lipstick. The hint of brown undertone makes it more interesting than a classic red, and also gives you a bit of a '90s vibe (or at least on me!). It also works really well as a stain if you blot it.
Speaking of lip stains, this picture shows you what happens when you mix and match! I acquired a nice stain after blotting off Intrigue, and then I layered Coral on top to get this strawberry-ish hue. So you can definitely play around with these.
I've gone through my share of tinted lip balms over the years, but this is one of the only ranges where every colour looks amazing, feels super nourishing, and lasts for hours—all with completely natural ingredients.
Let me know if you try them!
