The annual CFDA Awards (that's short for Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards) are always one of my favourite events for spotting flawless skin and interesting hair and makeup.
The model and celebrity attendees are some of the most beautiful women in the world, of course—and they're not afraid to experiment with everything from neon eyeshadow to sculptural braids!
Here are the most exciting looks from this year's red carpet....
I can never resist a colourful eye, and Shailene's might be the most daring I've seen! Not only did she choose an unexpected neon orange, but she's wearing it in a bold, graphic shape (instead of just a flash of eyeliner). The soft lashes, sheer lip balm, faux freckles and sleek pony bring it all together.
Leave it to Gigi to wear the subtlest, tone-on-tone makeup and still look completely stunning. There's a matte purplish-taupe all the way around her eyes, along with matte skin, fluttery lashes and an understated nude lip. I'm not crazy about her hair texture (or is there too much product in it?), but I love the light brown hue.
Gigi is wearing: Foundation in 230 Natural Buff • Concealer in Light Honey • Bronzer in Light 100 • Blush in Nude • Eyeshadow in The Nudes • Mascara • Brow pencil in Blonde • Lipstick in Daringly Nude
Red is definitely Laura's colour, so I'm glad she did a rich, deep red lipstick to match her dress. I'm obsessed with her dewy skin; I also love her straight, full brows and the thin line along her lower waterlines for definition. The wavy, undone ponytail helps create a romantic vibe.
Emily went for a brighter, more orangey red lipstick than her outfit, pairing it with bold blush and a sprinkling of faux freckles. Her skin looks fresh, and although her eyes are defined with brown shadow, they still seem soft. The loose waves are a little messy, but okay.

And one more red lip look for you! Lily chose a glossy shade and slightly overlined the shape to really make it pop. She's wearing quite a bit of brown eyeshadow, but it's more to sculpt her lids (you almost don't notice the colour from afar). The off-the-face ponytail shows off her incredible bone structure.
Shailene wasn't the only one to play with neon here. Grace did it, too, with these amazing electric pink cat eyes. I absolutely love this with her tight ponytail and glowing skin (will you look at those cheekbones?!). The only thing I'd change is the stiff, heavy false lashes.
Yara never shies away from a bold beauty statement, and this time, it was with her hair. Apparently it was braided around a wire and then molded into this sculptural shape! The makeup, of course, had to be more understated with a just soft pink eyeshadow and nude lips.
Elsa was all pale tones—from her dress to her skin to her hair—except for a bright pop of hot pink lipstick. She's not even wearing much eye makeup, just black mascara and a little bit of taupe shadow. (When you look like her, you don't need anything else!)
Lili kept things simple and chic with her hair in a side part, tucked behind both ears, and pretty makeup. She makes a great case for pink shadow all the way around the eyes, instead of the traditional browns. I think her hair could be a little smoother, though.
Barbara looks so good in these choppy bangs, although I'm almost certain they're not real. I also can't tell if that's eyeliner or false lashes, but either way, I love the feline eye shape (along with the icy grey-blue shadow). This is very '60s-inspired, but modern!
Ashley looks like a glamorous widow, or an extra from Dynasty, in a theatrical hat and dramatic puffed sleeves. With this outfit, cat eyes were a must; I also like the shimmery rose eyeshadow and blush with a matching matte lipstick. Not gonna lie, this is a welcome change from her usual sexy style!
Ciara rocked a cool set of dreadlocks, not only piled high on her head but also extending down past her waist. But I couldn't put my finger on what seemed "off" about this makeup, until I realized she's wearing coloured contacts. This would be a lot softer without them, and without the harsh liner in her waterlines.
Bella keeps doing these slicked-back curly hairstyles lately (see: Cannes), and I'm not feeling them. (Do they seem sort of dated, or is it just me?) Her eyes, on the other hand, are mesmerizing with this shimmering copper shadow. The same shade is on her cheeks and lips, and thankfully her face is not looking so plastic this time!
Bella is wearing: Lip gloss in Ladyish Beige
I need to know how Jennifer still looks so good, and young (she's 49!). Here she is in her signature high ponytail, heavy lashes, orange contouring and goopy gloss with a ring around the lips. It should not work, but in a way, it kind of does!
Diane didn't stray far from her usual red carpet formula of brown-toned smoky eyes and understated lips. But this time, the eyeshadow is heavier, with some purple shimmer at the inner corners, and her lashes are super chunky (I'm not a fan). I feel like greys and taupes are much better on her, and she needs more colour on her face, like a coral lip!
Who had your favourite (and least favourite) beauty look on this red carpet?
