"I'm actually terrible about taking care of my skin," admits Alicia Silverstone.
Although the Clueless star, now 42, is devoted to clean beauty products, "it's the food that saves me," she told Into The Gloss.
"Before my diet changed, I used to have massive breakouts. I had cystic acne all over the place, and it was embarrassing. Once we had to re-shoot an entire scene because of my skin. [Now,] I can wear no makeup, and be really, really tired, but if I've been eating clean then my skin is glowing, my eyes are white, and I feel great."
Case in point:
Just like her vegan diet, Alicia follows a vegan skincare routine. "When I'm choosing products, they have to be completely natural, vegan and not use chemical ingredients. Then they also have to smell great and work great." (Even if she sometimes sleeps in her makeup!)
Here's what she uses, morning and night:
Alicia’s Morning Skincare Routine
SIBU Sea Berry Therapy Cleansing Face & Body Bar: "In a perfect world, I'd wash my face first thing. If my makeup's great after a photoshoot or whatever, then I will literally sleep in my makeup so that it looks good the next day. I know that's terrible, but I don’t care. I'm still searching for my favourite cleanser. Right now I'm using this bar of soap.... It smells good, and I like that it bubbles a little."
Tammy Fender Roman Chamomile Tonic: "I have three toners, and I alternate between them. I love Tammy Fender Roman Chamomile."
Josh Rosebrook Hydrating Accelerator: "Josh Rosebrook makes a Hydrating Accelerator that's great, too."
Garden Apothecary Higher Ground Facial Serum: "For actual moisturizer, I use oils. Garden Apothecary's Higher Ground Facial Serum smells like coffee mixed with chocolate. It's divine."
Josh Rosebrook Active Infusion Serum: "I use the Josh Rosebrook Active Infusion Serum, too."
Josh Rosebrook Nutrient Day Cream SPF 30: "He makes a sunscreen with moisturizer that's really good."
Ecco Bella FlowerColor Cover Up: "I very, very rarely put makeup on if I'm not working. But if I'm going out to dinner... I'll put some on. The concealers I use are from Ecco Bella and Zuzu. Ecco Bella has a really good concealer for under the eyes."
Zuzu Luxe Concealer: "[I use] Zuzu for spots. I don't use all-over foundation. I eat really clean, and you can see it in the skin, but sometimes you need a little concealer to cover dots here and there."
Gabriel Cosmetics Multi Pot in Conch: "It's so pretty, it's like this little cream blush. It's really nice."
Tata Harper Volumizing Lip & Cheek Tint: "For blush, I use Gabriel or Tata Harper."
100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Blush in Peach: "Also, 100% Pure has a nice peach blush that I might use on top of a cream blush to seal it in."
One Over One Duotone in Rare Poppy: "There's a company called One Over One that has a nice blush situation, too. I wear Rare Poppy during the daytime."

Alicia’s Nighttime Skincare Routine
1. Makeup Remover:
Face Halo Makeup Remover: "To remove makeup, I'm trying out Face Halo—it's a new one that's just a face cloth. I like that because you don't have to use any product, you just wet the cloths with water."
Goddess Garden Organics Erase the Day Clay Cleanser: "I use Goddess Garden Organics Erase the Day Clay Cleanser for night. There are nights and mornings when I don't wash my face, but when I do, [this is] what I use."
Kindred Skincare Co. Oil Cleanse: "I like an oil-based one from Kindred Skincare Co."
Modicum Essential Cleanser: "At night I sometimes cleanse with... Modicum's Essential Cleanser."
3. Cleansing Brush:
Clarisonic: "Lately I started playing with the Clarisonic, which I am loving."
Garden Apothecary Full Bloom Fog Toning Mist: "For toner I use rose mist. I love Garden Apothecary Full Bloom Fog Toning Mist."
Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil: "This other oil I like is by Pai—the Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil."
Modicum Essential Serum: "I love a good face serum, particularly... Modicum's Essential Serum."
Carasoin Cold Fusion Intense Moisture: "And Carasoin's Cold Fusion Intense moisturizer."
Alicia’s Skincare Treatments
Josh Rosebrook Cacao Antioxidant Mask: "Maybe once every other month I'll use a mask. There are two masks that I love. One is, again, by Josh Rosebrook—it's the Cacao Antioxidant Mask. I like the ones that are all muddy and dark and get crusty."
Kaeng Raeng Cleansing Clay Detoxifying Charcoal Face Mask. "And the other is the Kaeng Raeng Cleansing Clay Detoxifying Charcoal Face Mask. They're the kind that make you look like you're ready for Halloween, but you feel like something is actually happening with them on."
Alicia’s Diet, Exercise and Lifestyle
The Kind Diet by Alicia Silverstone: "You may as well throw every single beauty product away if you're not going to eat clean. I'm not obsessed with anti-aging, but I know that anti-aging comes from food. If you want to look young, eat greens. I know it's frustrating, but it's really the truth. My diet is the same as it's been for a long time. I follow the Kind Diet and wrote a book about it. It's definitely plant based, but there's so much more to it. It's about eating foods that nourish you. It's no accident that everyone says to me all the time that I still look like I did in Clueless."
Garden of Life Mykind Organics: "I co-created Mykind Organics with Garden of Life. It's the only line that is certified organic, non-GMO verified, all food-based—no fillers, no binders, nothing—and vegan. I try to take Mykind Organics B-Complex, Mykind Organics B-12 spray, and Mykind Organics Vitamin C Cherry Tangerine spray, especially when travelling. I also take our 40+ multivitamin gummy as a sweet treat that's also good for me! Some herbal supplements I use as needed include Mykind Organics Sleep Well R&R, Ashwagandha, Adrenal Balance, and our delicious Elderberry gummies. In addition to diet, Mykind Organics plant-based Collagen Builder is really awesome for keeping your skin looking young and supple."
Winsor Choza Pilates: "I go to Pilates—it's like physical therapy. I found a really good place called Winsor Choza Pilates on Beverly Boulevard. I take the classes there."
"Fitness is important, but it's not going to help you if you don't eat well. Sometimes I get too busy to exercise, so I'm so grateful I have clean eating as my foundation to rely on. That being said, in my ideal world I would exercise every single day. I love circuit training and organized classes because I'm not good at working out on my own—I'm totally lazy."
