Billboard Music Awards 2015: The Best (And Worst) Celebrity Hair and Makeup Looks on the Red Carpet

Kendall, you so pretty. I’m particularly enjoying the contrast of the pink lips against her warm, probably also spray-tanned skin. The wet-look, baby bouffant hair is pretty great as well, and I’m so glad she didn't go too heavy with the eye makeup. Of course there are lashes—she IS a Kardashian, after all!—but they are in proper proportion and not overdone.

This might be my favourite Zendaya look yet! She looks so cute and fresh in the high, wavy ponytail—but the gelled, centre-parted front is that extra detail that gives it a fashion-forward spin. Skin is luminous, and the makeup palette is soft and natural. (But is it wrong if I like her just a little bit less now that she’s part of Taylor Swift’s girl crew? Z, I thought you were cooler than that.)

Wait—Rita has long hair again? When did this happen? I have to say, I like it a lot better than the pixie cut, although it would be nice to have it a little shorter than this, and styled a bit edgier. The long Hollywood waves are boring to me. It’s nice to see her signature red lip again, with fairly low-key makeup everywhere else. (Low-key for Rita, that is.)

Now that we know they come from a syringe, I can’t stop staring at Kylie’s lips. To me, they don’t even look natural (but maybe that’s the point). I also find her hair too solid black and lacking dimension, probably because she has changed her colour so often. The good part is the eye makeup. I really like that smudgy soft blue underneath her lower lash lines.

I’m not sure about this new shag hairstyle on Taylor. On others, it might be fine. On her, it seems kind of off-brand and even helmet-like. (I still maintain that long hair with bangs is her Life Cut.) In general, I would also like to see fresher makeup, and I just don’t get this new thing of having so much shadow under the eyes... it’s making everyone look tired! Final non-beauty-related thought: I haaated her white bell-bottom jumpsuit. 

JLo’s hair looks... expensive. You just know she invested tons of money and time to get this look, which is blonder than usual and very carefully Ombré’d. Also mega-layered and styled like curtains to reveal her face. My thoughts? I can appreciate the work that went into it, but it feels a bit too contrived. Meanwhile, she shows no signs yet of letting up on the heavy makeup and goopy lip gloss.

Chrissy looks super-glam, but her contour isn’t blended very well on her forehead—which is surprising, considering she’s a model and all. And then there’s the eye makeup. While I like the metallic copper eyeshadow, those chunky false lashes need to be burned. 

Those are some fierce cat eyes that Hailee is rocking. I kinda love them with the youthful high ponytail, plus rosy cheeks and matte lips. If I could change anything here, it would smoothing the creased concealer under her eyes, and taming some of those flyaway pieces of hair.

Stefanie is all grown up with a sophisticated, satiny red lip and a loose updo. I love the piecey bits framing her face, and the the touch of gold glitter at the inner lower corners of her eyes elevates the whole thing. (Plus, don’t you just love her crop top?!)

Charli brought the drama with a rich red lipstick, textured lids and black liner against pale skin and a mass of brushed-out brunette curls. Doing both a strong eye and a strong lip is usually too much, but somehow, it works here. I think it helps that she has those incredible, face-framing brows.

This might be the best look I’ve ever seen on Meghan. Her skin is flawless, and the icy blonde is a super-flattering shade. I also like how it’s been styled—mostly straight, with just a bit of wave on the ends. I can even (sort of) get behind these false lashes to complete the look.

It’s so exciting that we got a rare red carpet sighting of Britney. And you know what? She’s looking pretty good. (Futhermore, her body is looking really good... how has she had two children?!) I love her pink gloss, and while the eyeliner and mascara are a bit heavy, I prefer it instead of a pair of obvious false lashes. I always find her hair too blonde for her skin tone.

Iggy... er, is this Iggy? Plastic surgery rumours are wildly circling following this latest appearance, so it looks like we know who’s on deck for my next Before & After! I honestly can't tell if her nose is different from her appearance at the Kids’ Choice Awards, but her lips sure do look inflated. At least the pink colour is great, and it matches her dip-dyed hair. 

Danica looks a bit like a member of a bridal party instead of someone attending a hot red carpet event. (Not that she doesn’t look pretty... we just have higher style expectations here, is all.) The updo and eyeshadow application feel dated, and I’d love to see her with fluffier, less angular brows.

Clearly, Mariah found her look in the early ‘00s, and boy, is she sticking with it. She looks glamorous, yes—but the flippy waves, rounded brows, obvious lip liner and heavy pink blush simply don’t look modern. I could go on, but you know what I mean.
