How to Style a Bob: 17 Celebrity Hairstyles to Inspire Your Next Cut

These celebs will make you want to chop your hair.

In case you hadn't noticed, the bob is shaping up to be the biggest hair trend of the year.

If I remember correctly, the classic shoulder-clearing style hasn't been this popular since TomKat were a thing. (That would be circa 2007, when Katie Holmes got the cut that landed her in the Bob Hall of Fame.)

And now, the bob is back on the red carpet in a brand new way. Here are the latest celebs to rock the look:

Kat Graham

Kat Graham at the 2017 BET Awards.

What I like: Kat's straight, centre-parted, wheat-toned bob is EVERYTHING. There's no layering to her cut; it's meant to be sleek, sharp and blunt, with subtle Ombré to frame her face. I love that she's wearing nude makeup, which plays down the statement hair and busy dress. What I'd change: If only we could wean her off the Instagram brows.

Olivia Wilde

Olivia Wilde at the 2017 Tony Awards.

What I like: Olivia's new bob showcases her amazing bone structure in a way we've never seen before. She's wearing it volume-free, in a deep side part and tucked behind her ears—which leaves us to appreciate every detail of the pink eyeshadow and tawny lips and cheeks. What I'd change: Remember when her hair looked like this? That's still the ultimate Olivia bob, if you ask me.

Olivia is wearing: Primer • Concealer in 3 YoungBlush in 504 Kink & KissesBronzer in Tantric 102Eyeliner in Sunset 74Eyeshadow in 200 The LoverLipstick in In the Mood 152 • Lip liner in Nude(ist) 300

Olivia Culpo

Olivia Culpo at the 2017 ESPY Awards.

What I like: Olivia's super-thick, super-healthy bob. The smooth texture and slightly rounded-under ends feel refreshing after so many years of dry texture. The deep side part and uniform brunette colour add even more polish. What I'd change: Her lower lip liner isn't blended.

Cara Delevingne

Cara Delevingne at the 2017 premiere of 'Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.'

What I like: Cara's bob was so cool while it lasted (which wasn't long!). This is a shaggier version of Kat Graham's style, with more texture at the ends. The silver hue adds to the rock 'n' roll vibes, roots and all. If you look closely, there's a touch of purple liner at her inner corners. What I'd change: Nothing.

Kelly Rowland

Kelly Rowland at the 2017 Women's Guild Cedars-Sinai spring luncheon.

What I like: This should be Kelly's Life Cut, because she has never looked better! I'm completely in love with this wavy bob (wob) with bangs. Compared to the cut she was rocking last year, it widens her oblong face and puts more focus on her eyes and smile. The colour is also softer and lighter. So pretty! What I'd change: Nothing.

Cate Blanchett

Cate Blanchett at the 2017 Louis Vuitton and Jeff Koons collaboration celebration.

What I like: Cate's cute, chic, blonde cut. This is one of the shorter bobs on our list (it grazes her ears), with subtle layers and a long, side-swept fringe. All the better to show off her amazing skin and pretty pink lipstick. What I'd change: Nothing.

Rihanna at the 2017 Parsons Benefit.

What I like: I've always loved Rihanna in a bob, and this curly look is no exception. Worn in spirals with a wet texture, it has a street-style edge—especially with the oversized hoop earrings and red lipstick. Could her skin be any more radiant? What I'd change: Nothing.

Kristen Stewart

What I like: Kristen's side-swept blonde, textured waves. (Yes, this was pre-buzz cut.) Rarely do I say this, but the roots are an essential part of this look. Close to the head, her hair is dark and controlled, but then becomes all beachy, bleached and playful. The eyeliner is important to tie together the root and brow colours. What I'd change: Nothing.

Lucy Hale

Lucy Hale at Entertainment Weekly's 2017 SAG Awards celebration.

What I like: Lucy's modern textured bob. This is such a "Millennial" cut, and I can't think of an actress who wears it better. There's just a little bend through the lengths, but not actual waves, and the frizz is intentional. She wears it with equally textured brows and a bold berry lip. What I'd change: Her brows are so striking, I don't think she needs such heavy lashes.

Diane Kruger

Diane Kruger at the 2017 Montblanc for UNICEF collection launch.

What I like: Diane's casually glamorous wavy bob. This is a new length for her, and I definitely prefer it to her long hair. The waves are gorgeous, and not too contrived. Once again, we're seeing a deep side part and the hair behind one ear. I love her natural lashes and classic scarlet lipstick. What I'd change: Nothing.

Hailey Baldwin

Hailey Baldwin at the 2017 Warner Bros. and InStyle Golden Globes after-party.

What I like: Rihanna wasn't the only celeb to try a wet bob; Hailey also wears this look beautifully. The difference here is a straighter (more "out of the shower") texture, combed into place with height at the front. It pairs perfectly with her trendy brown-toned makeup. What I'd change: Nothing.

Hailey is wearing: Eyeshadow in The Escapist 120Eyeliner in Ro(Cocoa) 48Mascara in Noir • Lipstick in Fawn Over Me 452 • Lipstick in Hot Cocoa 460

Adelaide Kane

Adelaide Kane at Nylon's 2017 Young Hollywood party.

What I like: Adelaide's effortless-looking cropped cut. The front is pinned to one side, and the texture is a little imperfect, which I love. It's that high-low contrast again: casual hair; statement makeup/outfit. She has the perfect doe eyes for brown smokies. What I'd change: I'd probably try to diffuse the lighter eyeshadow colour some more.

Kate Mara

Kate Mara at Refinery29's 2016 New York Fashion Week event.

What I like: Kate's look here says "summer" to me. It's because her blonde colour is so fresh, and she has a bit of a tan. But also because of the casual way she's wearing her bob—with a messy part and a mini braid on one side. Adorable! What I'd change: Nothing.

Kerry Washington

Kerry Washington at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival.

What I like: Kerry's flipped-to-one-side style. This new bob is really shaking up her normally conservative aesthetic. She looks young and fresh with the shorter length and messy texture; also notice how the waves have straight ends. The eyeliner with a bare lip is perfect. What I'd change: Nothing.

Bella Heathcote

Bella Heathcote at the 2016 Marie Claire Image Maker Awards.

What I like: Bella's bright eyes, lips and cheeks grab my attention right away—because her bob is slicked and pinned off her face. This is a variation on Olivia Wilde's style, with straight ends behind the ears; the difference is that Bella's bob is brushed back instead of parted. I'm mesmerized by her flawless skin and bold lip and blush choices. What I'd change: Nothing.

Robin Wright

Robin Wright at the 2017 premiere of 'Wonder Woman.'

What I like: Robin's casual highlighted bob. Even though she wears short hair like a boss, I'm happy to see this longer length on her. (It softens the Claire Underwood vibes.) What makes it even more youthful is the way she left the texture a little imperfect... and pinned back the bangs! Smudgy liner, straight brows and glossy lips complete the look. What I'd change: Nothing.

Gwendoline Christie

Gwendoline Christie at the 2017 Season 7 premiere of 'Game of Thrones.'

What I like: Gwendoline's fluffy platinum bob. Okay, so her hair might not be in the best condition, because of the bleach. But I'll always be a sucker for big, glam waves at this length (it's a bit Marilyn Monroe-esque, no?). Since everything else is so pale, the baby cat eyes and silver shadow really pop. What I'd change: I don't know if she bleaches them for 'Game of Thrones,' but she's a great candidate for tinted brow mascara.
