Cannes Film Festival 2019: The Best Skin, Hair and Makeup Looks on the Red Carpet
The annual Cannes Film Festival just wrapped—and after the craziness of the Met Gala, it was a welcome change of pace!
On this red carpet, you won't find any spiky lashes, colourful eyebrows or beehive hairdos. Instead, the crowd of models and movie stars served up fresh skin, elegant updos and an array of sophisticated eye and lip looks.
Keep scrolling for all the hair and makeup you need to see.
Selena Gomez
Selena, it's been a while! She looks adorable in graphic cat eyes with a bold red lip and a sleek updo. Note the natural brows and the soft texture of the lashes.
Selena is wearing: Moisturizer • Foundation in Y270 • Concealer in Light 23 • Powder in Siren 52 • Bronzer in Tan-Tastic 104 • Blush in Flesh & Fantasy 506 • Eyeshadow in Flashlight • Liquid liner in Blacquer • Mascara in Noir • Lipstick in Oh Miley 200

Margot skipped eye makeup (except for mascara) in favour of a rosy blush and a matte, contoured rose lip—which has almost become her signature. The undone braids add interest to her straight hairstyle.
Penélope Cruz
Penélope is all bronzy and glowy in this peachy lipstick, matching blush. I love how the eyeliner emphasizes the pretty almond shape of her eyes.
Jasmine Tookes
Jasmine couldn't look more elegant in this ladylike updo and tone-on-tone makeup. I love the pop of brighter blush.
Amber Heard
Amber matched her lipstick and eyeshadow to her dress, and I love this burgundy colour on her. She also pulls off the gelled-back long hair.
Amber is wearing: Lipstick in Cacao Crush and Tasty Ruby
Shailene Woodley
Shailene's smoky eyes and bronzed lips add drama to her menswear-inspired outfit. I just find the liner under her eyes a bit harsh, and would have blended the contour some more.
Elle Fanning
Elle looks like an absolute doll in this bouncy blowout and pretty peachy-pink lipstick. The brows have great texture, and her skin is so flawless!
Julianne Moore
Julianne went with her usual soft plum tones for her smoky eyes, pairing them with a sheer pink blush and lip gloss. But it's her red hair that makes the main colour statement when paired with a green dress.
Dakota Fanning

Dakota did the princess-ballerina thing, wearing her hair in a neat bun and keeping her makeup sheer and pink-toned. It's not fashion-forward, but it's so pretty.
Chloë Sevigny
Chloë wore a classic red lipstick (no lip injections here!) and as usual, as little makeup as possible everywhere else. That, along wth the loose hair, creates her signature effortless vibe.
Marion Cotillard
Marion showed off new bleached-blonde ends with a wavy style and skinny headband... but personally, I'll always prefer her in a classic brunette bob! The pink makeup works well, however, her brows seem too drawn-on.
Alessandra Ambrosio
Hooray, Alessandra did a red lip! She rarely does colour, but it's so pretty on her with this loose updo and her signature cat eyes.
Alessandra is wearing: Foundation • Bronzer in Hoola • Blush • Eyeshadow in Soft Ochre • Eyeshadow in Friendcation • False lashes • Lipstick in Uncensored
Ming Xi
Ming is stunning in bold cat eyes, straight natural brows and peach lips with a tight, low bun. And her skin is literally perfection.
Josephine Skriver

I love how Josephine sculpted her eyelids with a pinky shadow in the same tone as her dress. The wispy updo gives this a soft, romantic feel.
Izabel Goulart
Izabel was another one to embrace a matchy-matchy look, pulling the fuchsia from her dress to create a bold but diffused eye. How gorgeous are her brunette waves?
Winnie Harlow
Winnie amped up her look with a bright, glittery purple shadow surrounded by lots of matte charcoal shading. I think it's the latter that makes this seem too heavy, at least under the eyes.
Elsa Hosk
It's nice to see Elsa in something different—a crown braid along with soft, sun-kissed makeup. She always plays up her eyes, but this brown shadow is softer than her usual black liner.
Bella Hadid
I love seeing Bella in red lipstick for a change! The matching sheer shadow is a cool touch as well. But I'm not loving the curly updo... and it appears she got some recent tweaks. Her face literally looks like it's being pulled up at the sides!
