CFDA Awards 2018: The Best Skin, Hair and Makeup Looks on the Red Carpet
Every year, the Council of Fashion Designers of America honours the best and brightest in design at the CFDA Fashion Awards. And the guest list always includes a bevy of A-list models and celebrities!
If you're into creative makeup and natural skin, you'll love the looks below from the 2018 event, held earlier this week.
Martha Hunt
Martha's Swarovski crystal "eyeliner" might just be my favourite look of the year so far! I love creative ideas like this, especially with glowy skin, pink lips, darkened brows and simple, straight hair.
Emily Ratajkowski
Emily did a monochromatic makeup look, featuring coral-pink tones of eyeshadow, blush and lipstick. I absolutely love the long but natural-looking lashes, soft brows and wavy hair.
Emily is wearing: Primer • Foundation in Medium Y370 • Concealer in 4 Late Show • Highlighter in 50 Dew You? • Powder in 36 Golden Fawn • Setting spray • Bronzer in Tantric 102 • Blush in 504 Kink & Kisses • Eyeliner in (Brown)ie 43 • Eyeshadow in Fantascene • Mascara in Noir • Brow pencil in Medium Brown 6 • Brow gel in 30 Invisible • Lipstick in Sonic Truth 244 • Highlighter in Spotlight (on body)
Naomi Campbell
Naomi paired her signature long, stick-straight hair with glossy mauve lips, charcoal liner and gold shadow all the way up to her brows. Her brow powder is a bit reddish, but it doesn't bother me. Look at those cheekbones!
Karlie Kloss
Karlie looks fresh and pretty in a rosy pink lipstick and flushed cheeks. Her hair is tied back in a simple ponytail with a deep side part, and she left her brows full and natural. I'm so glad she hasn't succumbed to the fake lips trend!
Winnie Harlow
Winnie did a dramatic smoky eye in glittering blue eyeshadow, framed by extra long lashes. The shimmery peachy-pink lip gloss is super gorgeous. Her hair (which you can see at the hairliine is a wig) is long, voluminous and wavy.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
Rosie pulled her hair up into a messy, wavy high bun with long, face-framing pieces. Notice the graphic edge of her brown eyeshadow, plus textured brows and a creamy rose lipstick. Her skin is in great condition, and looks foundation-free.
Rosie is wearing: Moisturizer • Eye cream • Concealer in Medium • Blush in Sunny • Blush in Grisaille (as contour) • Eyeshadow in Quite Natural • Eyeshadow in Shell and Truffle • Mascara • False lashes • Hair gel (as brow gel) • Brow pen in Taupe • Lip colour in American Woman • Blush in Poppy (as lip colour)
Cate Blanchett
Cate's pink lipstick and matching blush have a yellow undertone that makes them so flattering with her complexion and blonde bob (styled in textured waves). The smoky brown eyeshadow and tightlined eyes add polish without looking too heavy.
Busy Philipps
Busy channelled the '60s with winged-out charcoal eyeshadow, black liner all the way around her eyes, and light pink lipstick and blush. I love this look with the half-up hairstyle (and it's a nice touch that her ponytail is wrapped in hair!). She has such good brows, too.
Kendall Jenner
Kendall embraced her feminine side with a romantic wavy updo, shimmery pale purple eyeshadow and baby pink lipstick. Her lashes are long, but the soft texture is just right.
Sarah Paulson
I love Sarah's bob so much! Both the cut and the colour (blonde, but with the roots left dark to match her brows) are perfect. Pink lipstick and blush, plus a slick of mascara, complete this young and fresh look.
Amber Heard
Amber always looks so good in a suit! Here, she wore it with off-the-face hair, exaggerated cat eyes and peach lipstick. I just find the shimmery brown eyeshadow is perhaps a little too heavy.
Kim Kardashian
I really like Kim's hair in this messy, textured high ponytail. Although the makeup is in her usual neutral comfort zone, she did switch up the eyeshadow a bit, with a warm orangey-brown shade. (The application is same way JLo wears it!) Of course, I'd prefer less precise brows.
Kim is wearing: Moisturizer
Kourtney Kardashian
Kourtney slicked all her hair back to show off her heart-shaped hairline (which I love!). The makeup is low-key, with nude lipstick, peachy eyeshadow and defined lashes. I feel like she needs a pop of colour, though—or is bright lipstick against the Kardashian rules?!
