CFDA Awards 2019: The Best Skin, Hair and Makeup Looks on the Red Carpet
The annual CFDA Awards (that's short for Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards) are always one of my favourite events for spotting flawless skin and interesting hair and makeup.
The model and celebrity attendees are some of the most beautiful women in the world, of course—and they're not afraid to experiment with everything from neon eyeshadow to sculptural braids!
Here are the most exciting looks from this year's red carpet....
Bella Hadid
Bella's eyes are mesmerizing with this shimmering copper shadow. The same shade is on her cheeks and lips... and how gorgeous is her skin?! She's been into these slicked back curly hairstyles lately. Thankfully, her face is not looking so pulled and plastic this time!
Bella is wearing: Lip gloss in Ladyish Beige
Ciara
Ciara rocked a cool set of dreadlocks, not only piled high on her head but also extending down past her waist. She paired them with warm, neutral-toned makeup... and if you can't put your finger on what's different about this look, it's because she's wearing coloured contacts!
Shailene Woodley
I can never resist a colourful eye, and Shailene's might be the most daring I've seen! Not only did she choose an unexpected neon orange, but she's wearing it in a bold, graphic shape (instead of just a flash of eyeliner). The soft lashes, sheer lip balm, faux freckles and sleek pony bring it all together.
Gigi Hadid
Leave it to Gigi to wear the subtlest, tone-on-tone makeup and still look completely stunning. There's a matte purplish-taupe all the way around her eyes, along with matte skin, fluttery lashes and an understated nude lip. I'm not crazy about her hair texture (or is there too much product in it?), but I love the light brown hue.
Gigi is wearing: Foundation in 230 Natural Buff • Concealer in Light Honey • Bronzer in Light 100 • Blush in Nude • Eyeshadow in The Nudes • Mascara • Brow pencil in Blonde • Lipstick in Daringly Nude
Laura Harrier
Red is definitely Laura's colour, so I'm glad she did a rich, deep red lipstick to match her dress. I'm obsessed with her dewy skin; I also love her straight, full brows and the thin line along her lower waterlines for definition. The wavy, undone ponytail helps create a romantic vibe.
Yara Shahidi
Yara never shies away from a bold beauty statement, and this time, it was with her hair. Apparently it was braided around a wire and then molded into this sculptural shape! The makeup, of course, had to be more understated with a just soft pink eyeshadow and nude lips.
Ashley Graham
Ashley looks like a glamorous widow, or an extra from Dynasty, in a theatrical hat and dramatic puffed sleeves. With this outfit, cat eyes were a must; I also like the shimmery rose eyeshadow and blush with a matching matte lipstick. Not gonna lie, this is a welcome change from her usual sexy style!
Diane Kruger
Diane didn't stray far from her usual red carpet formula of brown-toned smoky eyes and understated lips. But this time, the eyeshadow is heavier, with some purple shimmer at the inner corners, and her lashes are super chunky (I'm not a fan). I feel like greys and taupes are much better on her, and she needs more colour on her face, like a coral lip!
