Christina Applegate, Before and After

The beauty evolution of the 'Married... with Children' star.

How many actresses have been working steadily, with A-list name recognition, since the 1980s?

Christina Applegate is one of the few! Best-known for her role on 'Married... with Children,' which ran from 1987 to 1997, she's been a household name since 16 years old. She's now 42, so she's been famous for nearly three decades—the majority of her life!

She hadn't crossed my mind in recent years, until the 2014 Critics' Choice TV Awards, where I noticed she looks... different.

Let's take a look at her beauty evolution and see:

Christina Applegate in the late 1980s.

First, here's her claim to fame, Kelly Bundy, circa sometime in the late '80s. It's kind of hilarious how this is in style now! The swooping height at the part is similar to current hair trends, and her brows are amazing. Also note the matte lipstick and long almond nails!

That Brad Pitt, he gets around! As for Christina, she looks so cute—although you'll notice with '80s hair and makeup, it's so much less polished than how we see celebs today. Again we have the crispy hair texture.

I love this next look, though. I wondered if Christina used to have good brows... and she did! I also find the rusty eyeshadow interesting as it, too, is making a comeback. Everything old is new again! Take note of her lip shape, because we'll be addressing that soon.

Christina was 21 here, and sporting a "poodle look" hairstyle! The colour is a bit darker; I had no idea she was ever not blonde.

Thankfully, by 2000, the palette was lightening up. Christina looks so pretty with the tousled hair, fresh skin and matte lipstick. I feel like she might've been drawing outside the lip lines as well, which is a another current trend. It's the first appearance of the skinny brows. She really went to town on them!

Bronzey, glowy gorgeousness. Christina was 32 here. I love her look—and her naturally thin lips are fine with me!

By 2007, I still don't think anything had changed. Maybe she was getting a few injections here and there, but nothing crazy. (She was 36 at the time.) Love her hair especially!

So this was right after her breast cancer battle, and I'm astounded by how well she looks considering what she'd just gone through in the six months prior. Great hair and pretty makeup!

Okay, I think there's now some Restylane in her cheeks and lips (although it's hard to tell because she's pursing them), and some Botox in her forehead. I think it's fine.

Christina in 2012

By 2012, things start to go in a less subtle direction (I'm talking about her lips). As for the makeup. she must really love the combo of purple shimmer shadow at the inner corners with a reddish lip, because she wore a similar look in the 2009 shot.

Christina in 2013

Oh my goodness. Her lips! Not only are they over-injected, but they're way overdrawn. Wouldn't it be better to just embrace your natural thin lips? I don't get it! Other than that, this could've been a super-pretty look, since I love the idea of the updo with black liner and matte pink lipstick. Oh well...

This is the photo that inspired this Before & After. Not gonna lie, I was a bit shocked! The injections are causing a duck-face expression, and overall creating the opposite effect than what was intended. I'm also not a fan of the shiny foundation and spray tan, which is accentuating texture issues.

Update: Christina in 2015

I'm so happy to see this softer look. The tousled waves really suit her, and her face looks less "tight" (although I still think something up in the lip area).

By this time, Christina was 45. I love the hair but not crazy about the makeup here.

Ah, this is nice! Christina's hair looks better than ever—I'm in love with the more solid colour and brushed-out waves. The makeup, especially the orange lipstick, is far more modern than what we've seen her in (although I don't think she needs the false lashes). The possibly Botox-induce tightness around the mouth is still present.

So, Christina does look different these days—but anyone would if you're comparing a teenager to a fortysomething! I think that she's one of the few celebs who actually HASN'T done anything surgically, such as the nose jobs we see time and time again in the Before & Afters.

As for the injectables, in my opinion, she overdoes them. A few tweaks here and there are great, but when it starts changing the way you smile? Time to dial it back!
