Critics’ Choice Awards 2015: The Best (And Worst) Celebrity Hair and Makeup Looks on the Red Carpet

You can’t deny it: Angelina is just so beautiful here. I love that she’s gone darker with her hair, styled in big, glamorous loose waves. And her green eyes are popping like crazy against the black liner, dewy skin and sheer glossy lips. I just don’t love the false lashes, but at least they’re not super heavy.

Diane went for a beachy vibe this time. I’ve always loved her hair wavy like this—it’s so pretty at her mid-length, and it breaks up the seriousness of a big gown. The makeup (which I’m assuming she DIY’d) is neutral with a twist. See how she did strong, shimmering brown eyes against a cool-toned pink lip? Usually, the entire palette is either cool or warm, but I like this mix of tones, especially with restraint on the blush.

So excited to see Marion here—it’s been a while! And leave it to the French woman to successfully pull off the wet-look hair trend. I wasn’t into it before... but I am now, worn like this. The hair is just right with the strong magenta pink lips, perfected shine-free skin and bare eyes. I love everything happening here.

Aw, here’s something we haven't seen before on Amy: a bouncy high ponytail with bright strawberry-red lips, strong brows and baby cat eyes. Adorable, right? It’s a bit 1950s, but not too retro, and everything is nicely in balance.

Keira looks exquisite. The makeup is another Kate Lee work of art, featuring those soft blotted lips and flawless skin that she is famous for. What I find most interesting is the pairing of purplish tones all around the eyes with peach cheeks and pinkier, berry-toned lips. It’s a colour combo that’s a little unexpected, and so subtly beautiful. This makeup proves that a neutral face doesn’t have to be boring.

I’m in love with Felicity’s stained lips here—well, her entire makeup look actually. Her makeup artist did an incredible job of emphasizing her delicate features without overpowering them. The lips were filled in, and then gloss over top. Her peachy flushed cheeks, subtly shaded eyes, defined lashes and natural brows complete the look.

Emily wisely paired her bright red dress with softer, more understated makeup tones. Going matchy-matchy with a bold red lip might’ve been too much with her soft colouring, so I’m a fan of the bronzey eyeshadow paired with peachy lips and cheeks. Her tousled hair is cool, but I’d rather see an updo with the high neckline.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen Jamie looking less than adorable. This look is all about her beach-textured hair, which works well with the edgy details of her dress. If I could tweak anything here, I might lighten up on the bronzer/contour. It kind of detracts from her gorgeous skin!

I can’t get over Leslie’s skin. No sun damage, non-existent pores and it looks so, so hydrated. She’s smart not to pile on the makeup—just some creamy, shimmery grey on the lids, lots of lashes and a bright pink lip. I might brush those curls, but hair is looking fab, too.

Julianne has such flawless skin, and I love how this look shows it off with just a touch of sheer colour staining the lips, cheeks and lids. It doesn’t even look like she’s wearing foundation! Black mascara lends definition to her eyes and face, while the sleek, side-parted hairstyle tucked behind the ears makes it dressy and chic. I wouldn’t change a thing.

Jen may not have departed from her go-to red carpet style here, but hey, at least she’s wearing colour! The makeup looks fresh and pretty with rosy cheeks, sheer gloss and tons of black mascara. (And the hair, well, it’s signature Aniston all the way.

This is a big improvement for Michelle, whose Golden Globes look seemed a bit dated. The pinky-red lip stain is so fresh and young-looking with scraped-back hair, clean skin and rosy cheeks. I’m glad she kept a light touch on the eye makeup, too, mainly emphasizing her lashes.

I’m glad the makeup artist didn’t try to “brighten up” Jenny's complexion against her light skin and dark hair. She is ultra-pale, and that’s okay. I really love this makeup for her: strong brows, the barest sweep of pink blush, pale pink lips, and light brown shimmery eyeshadow. With the high, wavy updo, she looks great.

Reese has been killing it on the red carpet lately... but I’m not so crazy about her look this time. Is it just me or is the bump in her hair a bit dated? It might’ve looked more current with a flatter top and a deep side part. The makeup is fine (especially the natural lashes), but I feel like her spray tan is a bit too dark.

Rosario shaved part of her hair last year, but you’d never know it was there, under this long wavy bob. The makeup is her usual: brown smoky eyes with silver shimmer at the inner corners. But there’s too much of a contrast between the colours and textures. I think it would be more harmonious to do a warm golden metallic with a shimmering brown.

Darn, I love Rosamund’s no-makeup makeup, but this hairstyle isn’t the most flattering. I’m not loving the slicked-down middle part or the ashy colour. It’s too bad she didn’t wear it down, as that would’ve been lovely with this icy pink makeup. She’s another one of those people who looks best with less.

As you know, I usually think Jessica gets it right. But I’m not so sure here. On the one hand, I adore the hot pink lipstick; it’s such a pretty colour on a redhead. But what’s up with the drawn-on brows?! Up-close, they’re making her look a little severe. I love her hair, though—it’s a multi-level braid at the back and very cool.
