As most of you know by now, this isn't the kind of beauty blog where you're encouraged to wear five shades of green eyeshadow all at once, or to chisel your face with layers upon layers of bronzer and highlighter, all Christina Aguilera-style.
Nope, we definitely go for a less-is-more approach around here. Not bare-faced (because only naive members of the opposite sex actually believe our natural look is, well, natural). More like "you, only better" beauty. That means, for an everyday makeup look, just adding tiny tweaks to enhance what you've got, without going overboard on any single feature.
Are you with me on this? Hope so, because I want to show you a couple new prodz along these lines that are making me VERY happy this week.

Nail Glow! Isn't that the greatest name—and product idea—that you've heard in a long time? It's a clear nail polish with the barest hint of pink, which boosts the natural pink colour of your nails so they look more "done." (Even though it takes like 10 seconds to swipe this on, just like a regular clear polish.) The technology in the formula corrects yellowness and brightens the whites of your nails to create a subtle French manicure effect... which as you know is totes on trend for spring 2013. Instead of going for the full-blown Chanel version from the runway, this polish does French in a much more subtle (read: non-tacky) way. And the big fat brush is a dream to use.
Here's what my nails looked like before (crappy, dull, yellowing):
And 10 seconds later:
Not bad considering the time investment (zero) and the condition of my nails to start with. (Ugh, I always forget what a number Shellac does on them... I'm recovering from it at the moment.) Aside from these quick-dry polishes, the Dior is a great one to have on hand for those times when you're running out the door but need to fix your nails FAST. Like last night—I'm wearing it here. Also great for anyone looking for an easy upgrade of their clear polish.
UPDATE: Here's what Nail Glow looks like outside—very mauve!

Now, here's the concept again, but applied to the lips:
Dior Addict Lip Glow Color Reviver Gloss, $32.00; click here to learn more and purchase.
Anyone remember those "intuitive" lip glosses from Smashbox that were really big a few years ago? They were clear, but you'd put them on and they'd change colour according to whatever was supposed to suit your complexion. At the time, I loved the idea, but it was in the era of plumping—so the things irritated my lips and weren't all that moisturizing.
Fast-forward to 2013 and Dior's done it way better. This gloss has the balmy, non-sticky texture that we've come to expect now from our lip products, and it really does transform from a sheer, clear pink to a flushed, lip-enhancing shade when you put it on.
This is the colour straight out of the tube:
My lips before (photo cropped because this is what I REALLY look like when I'm writing these posts—no makeup and wearing my gym clothes!):
Here's how it transformed my lips:
Neat, right? It's all I want to wear at the moment.
