Emmys 2018: The Best Skin, Hair and Makeup Looks on the Red Carpet
This year's Emmy Awards red carpet was all about glowing, dewy skin with colourful eyeshadow. Orange was the key trend, but celebs also wore shades of gold, magenta and plum on their eyes, usually with natural lashes (hooray!). Hair was either tied back or softly waved... and it looks like half-up styles and floral adornments are making a comeback!
Below, the best skin, hair and makeup of the night.
Emilia Clarke
With barely-there makeup, Emilia showed off glowing smooth skin, full brows and long lashes. Love that she finally ditched the platinum blonde for a more natural brunette with blonde highlights!
Dakota Fanning
Dakota did a modern take on half-up hair, pairing it with gorgeous green earrings, cat eyes, full brows and flawless skin. Her lips are bare and the blush is so well-blended. She looks soft, pretty and effortless!
Dakota is wearing: Foundation in Cool Rosy • Blush in Petal • Luminizer • Eyeshadow in Front Row • Eyeshadow in Lune • Eyeliner in Matte Black • Mascara in Over Black • Lipstick in Ultra Lust • Tinted lip balm in Pink Glow
Thandie Newton
Thandie did glittering pink eyeshadow to match her dress, plus a thick fringe of lashes and a 70's-inspired low bun. I'm glad she didn't do a strong lip or cheek, which would overwhelm the look. Her skin is utterly flawless!
Thandie is wearing: Eyeshadow in Bronze Seduction
Vanessa Kirby
Vanessa looks like a '90s supermodel in this smooth blowout and voluminous "swoop." She paired it with cat eyes, strong brows and brown-toned nude lips. So gorgeous!
Vanessa is wearing: Face mist • Face oil • Primer • Foundation • Blush in Longitude Zero • Highlighter in Cosmic Dancer • Brow gel • Lipstick in Mojave
Chrissy Teigen
Chrissy rocked a wavy, highlighted bob in a deep side part. Then she amped up the drama with a dark rose lip and brown smoky eyes. Even though I prefer a lighter touch, she looks fabulous.
Chrissy is wearing: Lotion • Moisturizer • Foundation in Sand • Foundation in Tan • Concealer in Medium Deep • Contour in In the Nude • Powder • Eyeshadow in Cocoa • Eyeliner in Black Moon • Mascara in Black • Brow pencil in Dirty Blonde • Tinted lip balm in Posh
Kristen Bell
Kristen chose an elegant ballerina bun, and I love seeing her hair back, for once! The glossy nude lips and brown shaded eyes are understated and classic with the white gown.
Kristen is wearing: Lip gloss in Ever After
Yara Shahidi
Yara looks fresh and pretty in this high top knot and tone-on-tone makeup look. She's actually wearring the same two burnished red lip shades sheered out over her eyes, cheeks and lips!
Yara is wearing: Face mask • Essence • Moisturizer • Foundation in Golden Honey • Foundation in Warm Almond • Powder in Golden Orange • Bronzer in Deep • Lipstick in Burnt Cherry (as eyeshadow, blush and lipstick) • Lip liner in Sangria (as eyeshadow, blush and lipstick) • Eyeliner in Black Ink • Lip balm (as eye highlight and on lips) • Brow powder in Dark • Brow pencil • Highlighter in Nectar (on body)
Jessica Biel
The slightly roughed-up texture of Jessica's waves makes them modern, and I love the pop of matte berry lip stain. Notice how she kept her eyes bare, which looks young and fresh.
Jessica is wearing: Tinted moisturizer in Medium • Foundation in Beige • Powder in No. 40 • Blush in Quintessence • Eyeshadow in Mystère et Intensité • Mascara in Noir • Brow pencil in Blond Tendre • Lip liner in Natural • Lipstick in Avant-Gardiste • Lipstick in Idéal (centre of lips)
Madeline Brewer
Madeline paired her signature red hair with soft lashes, subtly shimmery shadow, sculpted cheeks and feathery brows. She's actually wearing fresh roses at the back of her half-up hair!
Constance Wu
Constance chose a warm-toned makeup palette with taupe eyeshadow and a rosy nude lipstick. The neat, centre-parted updo balances out the strong eyeliner. She could just use some powder around her nose.
Evan Rachel Wood
Evan wore a bouquet of flowers in her wavy updo, but it doesn't look bridal thanks to the berry lipstick. I would've preferred a softer texture (like a pressed-on stain), but I love the soft brows and shaded eyes.
Evan is wearing: Lipstick in Wine Waters
Claire Foy
Claire slicked back her bob,, and wore it with soft lashes and a bold red mouth. I'm glad we can still see her freckles! But the lip colour application could be neater at the edges.
