Last night's Golden Globes marked the official start of the 2020 awards season—and all the inspiring beauty looks that come with it!
As always, the vibe was less serious than the Oscars, giving the celebrity attendees and their glam squads a chance to play. This time, that meant lots of flippy bobs and lobs, flushed cheeks and flashes of metallics.
Here are the must-see hair and makeup close-ups from the big night:
Margot went for a casual, beachy vibe with her hair down (and an inch of dark roots... which some may find TOO casual!). I love the pop of purple along her upper lash lines, and the "your lips, only better" shade of lipstick.
Margot is wearing: Eye mask • Moisturizer • Foundation in 30 Beige • Blush in Vibration • Eyeshadow in Contour Clair and Pure Flesh • Eyeshadow in Pourpre Brun • Eyeliner in Blanc Graphique • Mascara in Noir • Lipstick in Contraste
Could Zoë be any more stunning?! I love that her pixie cut is back—all the better to show off her glorious skin and enviable bone structure. As usual, the makeup has a "cool girl" feel, with a velvety red lip, subtle tightlining, freckles and bold brows. Here's her skincare routine, in case you're wondering.
Zoë is wearing: Serum • Primer • Mattifier • Foundation in B40 • Concealer in 4.5 • Blush in Nude Blouse • Eyeshadow • Eyeliner in Black • Mascara in Black • Brow gel in Brun Naturel • Brow pencil in Brun Granite • Lip liner in Prune • Lip stain in Black Red Code and Red Tribe
Although Salma's hair and makeup were overshadowed by what's going on below the neck, I do think this is one of her best beauty looks. The berry lipstick and shimmering pinky-copper eyeshadow are gorgeous with her colouring, and the liner and lashes emphasize her eye shape beautifully. The long waves are okay, although they're not the most current.
Salma is wearing: Moisturizer • Foundation in 8 Warm and 9 Cool • Colour corrector in Medium • Concealer in 5 Medium • Eyeshadow in Pillow Talk • Eyeliner in Pillow Talk • Lip liner in Medium • Lipstick in Medium
Gugu carried the warm tones of her dress into her makeup palette. That orangey-red lipstick is incredible (and notice the way it's applied, in a perfect curvy shape). I also like the warm shimmer all the way from her lash lines to brows.
I can't think of a more fitting beauty look to go with Kaitlyn's intricate floral dress. The sheer, pinky-red lip stain and warmer-toned peach blush make for an interesting colour combination, and I'm very into the dewiness of her skin. (Perhaps a little powder around her nose is needed.) I also love the long lashes, soft brows and romantic updo.
Now this is a smoky eye! The application of the charcoal eyeshadow emphasizes the unique upturned shape of Shailene's eyes, and complements her arty, sexy dress so well. The pink lips are nice and understated, and the texture through her brows is perfect. I also love the slicked-back high ponytail.
Shailene is wearing: Foundation in 310 Bisque C • Concealer in 110 C Ivoire • Powder in Translucent • Bronzer in Bronze Lumiere • Highlighter in Sparkling Pêche • Eyeshadow in Smokey Chic • Eyeliner in Noir Intense • Liquid liner in Matte Noir • Mascara in Excessive Black • Brow colour in Chatain • Lip liner in Natural Mauve • Lipstick in Beige Mirage
I'm so happy Naomi is still rocking this short blonde bob, dressing it up for this occasion with some smooth waves. She always does red lipstick and a bold brow, but why switch things up when it suits her so well. (However, I might've toned down the blush.) Let's also take a moment to appreciate seeing what a real 51-year-old's skin looks like, without injectables!
Sofia went with her usual: a lipstick in the berry family, with smoky eyes, big brows and long waves. It honestly never changes, except for minor variations on the lip and eye colours. I feel like she could have a lot more fun with her look, and I wouldn't mind seeing a lighter touch overall.
This must be a personal best for Rachel. When she dyed her hair blonde, I initially wasn't sure, but this particular tone is gorgeous on her. The styling is soft, not overly contrived. I particularly like the peachy lipstick and the winged shape of the smoky shadow.
To go with her slinky, '70s-inspired dress, Saorise pared back her makeup to barely-there neutrals. The key detail is the shimmery beige shadow up to her brows. I don't mind it, but overall, she looks a little washed-out. I also think a sleek updo would've worked better with this dress.
Saoirse is wearing: Eye cream • Foundation in 10 Beige and 20 Beige • Highlighter in Sculpting • Illuminating Powder • Eyeshadow in Contour Mauve • Eyeshadow in Rising Sun • Mascara in Deep Eros • Brow pencil in Blond Clair • Brow gel in Blond • Lip liner in Beige Innocent • Highlighter in Golden Light (on lips)
Joey is demonstrating not one but two makeup trends here: metallic eyes and bold, rosy cheeks. I'm loving that pop of silver shadow, plus her lip colour and the dabbed-on texture. Overall, it's a little heavy, but I think the simple ponytail keeps it from looking too overdone.
Joey is wearing: Primer • Foundation in 20CP • Concealer in 20CP • Concealer in 10CP (as highlighter) • Powder in Universal • Blush in Strip • Setting spray • Eyeshadow primer • Eyeshadow in Busted • Eyeliner in Cuff (all over lids) • Eyeliner in Mushroom • Mascara • Brow colour in Brunette Betty • Brow pencil in Cafe Kitty • Lip liner in Manic • Lipstick in Ex-Girlfriend
