Golden Globes 2021: The Best Skin, Hair and Makeup Moments (as Seen on Instagram)
It's off to a late start this year, but with last night's Golden Globes, the 2021 awards season is finally here.
While another socially-distanced event isn't nearly as satisfying as seeing the glossy red carpet photos of the past, at least we've still got Instagram to scope out all the looks (and find the products used to create them).
Here are the best behind-the-scenes beauty moments of the night.
Lily Collins
Lily always gets it right, and this Studio 54-inspired look is no exception. I can't decide which I like more, the soft waves pinned to one side, or the two-toned smoky eyes.
Lily is wearing: Sheet mask • Eye serum • Foundation/concealer in 220 Buff Neutral • Contour in 350 Bisque Cool • Powder in Absolute Ecru Medium • Blush in Shimmer Mocha Havana • Eyeshadow in Bronze • Eyeshadow in Midnight Stone and Siren's Emerald • Eyeliner in Embrasé • Mascara in Glossy Black • Mascara in Black • Brow pencil in Dark Brown • Lip liner in Sheer Natural • Lip gloss in 296 Enchantement
Lana Condor
Lana looks like a princess—but a cool princess—in half-up hair and soft pink makeup. The dramatic black liner adds some necessary edge, framed by long but soft false lashes.
Margot Robbie
Margot wore a face-brightening, cherry-red lip that took not one but four products to create. It looks fresh paired with clean eyes, although we've seen this hairstyle (with the perfectly imperfect bend) many times before.
Margot is wearing: Blush in After Hours • Lip liner in 174 Rouge Tendre • Lipstick in 72 Iconique and 73 Invincible • Lipstick in 68 Ultime
Andra Day
Andra went with glowing skin and an Ombré lip to complement her silver-toned dress and matching jewellery. But it's her ethereal curly updo that really sets this apart.
Andra is wearing: Foundation in BD31 and BD41 • Concealer in 30 and 40 • Highlighter in Perlescent • Illuminating powder • Blush and highlighter • Eyeshadow in Nude Éclat • Eyeshadow in Warm Memories • Eyeshadow in Solaire • Mascara in Noir • Lip liner in Berry and Rouge Noir • Lipstick in Rouge Charnel • Lip gloss in Rose Tentation • Lipstick in Season
Amanda Seyfried
Amanda channelled old Hollywood with her vintage "S" waves, but did barely-there makeup instead of the usual red lip and smoky eyes. In particular, the light peach lipstick gives this a modern twist.
Amanda is wearing: Foundation • Foundation in 360 Bisque • Eyeshadow in Bois Corail • Eyeshadow in Or Rose • Eyeliner in Black Coffee • Mascara in Black • Lip liner in Bronzelle • Lipstick in Nuit et Jour
Sarah Hyland
I didn't even recognize Sarah with her new red hair. With the long, tousled waves and lighter touch on the makeup, she looks so much more sophisticated than usual. More of this, please!
Sarah is wearing: CC cream • Concealer • Powder • Blush in Lychee • Eye primer in Rose • Eyeshadow in Chocolate Mint • Eyeshadow in Melt with Me and Ice Crème • Mascara • Lipstick in Golden Pear
Julia Garner
Julia's plunging neckline called for an equally dramatic statement above the neck, and this glossy red lip doesn't disappoint. It's balanced out by her bold, straight brows and soft, curly updo.
Julia is wearing: Serum • Eye gel • Moisturizer • Foundation in BR22 • Bronzer in Soleil Tan Bronze Universel • Highlighter in Printanier • Blush and highlighter • Eyeshadow in Undertone and Patine Bronze • Eyeliner in Noir Intense • Mascara in Noir • Lip balm • Lipstick in Sunlight
Gal Gadot
With a white dress as the backdrop, I feel like Gal could've been more creative versus just doing a red lip and retro waves. But I do love how that shimmery blush is accentuating her enviable bone structure.
Gal is wearing: Foundation in 3 Warm • Concealer in 3 Warm • Highlighter • Eyeshadow in 559 Poncho • Eyeliner in Matte Black • Mascara in Black • Brow pencil in Universal Brown • Lip liner in Célèbre • Lipstick in Célèbre Matte
Tiffany Haddish
Tiffany debuted a new golden hair colour, and I'm loving how it looks with her skin and the warm-toned makeup. Wisely, she kept her brows darker to frame her eyes.
Tiffany is wearing: Serum • Moisturizer (as eye cream) • Sunscreen • Primer • Foundation in 440 Amber • Concealer in 304 Medium • Powder • Blush in Sayoko • Eyeliner in Black • Mascara in Black Pulse • Brow pencil in Deep Brown • Lipstick in 508 Semi Nude • Lip gloss in 06 DaiDai Orange
Salma Hayek
How the hell is Salma 54 years old?! Okay, now that I've got that off my chest... I love how she's paired an unexpected pinky lipstick with this red dress. I'm also a fan of her fluffy lashes and subtle winged liner.
Salma is wearing: Moisturizer • Highlighter in Expensive • Highlighter in Quartz (on eyes) • Eyeshadow in Matte 8 • Eyeshadow in Metallics 3 and Metallics 10 • Eyeliner in The Perfect Brown • Liquid liner in Black • Lip balm • Lipstick
Awkwafina
Awkwafina's '70s-style dress is a little out there, but she makes it work, and the colours are amazing as inspiration for the makeup. The flushed cheeks, pearly shadow and peach lip tint are all things I'd wear myself.
Awkwafina is wearing: Foundation in Light • Blush and highlighter • Bronzer in Soleil Tan Bronze Universel • Eyeshadow in Rayon • Eyeshadow in Tissé Vendôme • Eyeshadow in Ultra Flesh • Eyeliner in Hyperblack • Mascara in Noir • Lipstick in Amoureux • Lipstick in Continuous
Elle Fanning
Elle is always at her best in these icy pastel tones. What better to go with a mint-green satin dress than classic cat eyes, peachy-pink lips and cheeks, and a ballerina bun?
Elle is wearing: Highlighter • Eyeliner in Intense Black • Lipstick in Pink Fever • Lipstick in Guava Gush
Kate Hudson
It's hardly fair that Kate's hair looks cool and intentional with two inches of re-growth, whereas mine just looks sad and neglected. Of course, the glam styling helps, as does the polished, pretty makeup.
Jamie Lee Curtis
Jamie is stunning in yellow—and I'm so glad her makeup artist didn't add any competing colours to her face. Just some sheer peach on her cheeks and an understated nude lip are all she needs.
Jamie is wearing: Eyeshadow in Dark Chocolate • Eyeshadow in Desert Pink • Liquid liner in Black • Mascara • Lipstick in New York Nude
Isla Fisher
Salma wasn't the only one to pair pink and red together. Isla did it, too, sporting a rich red mouth with her fluoro pink gown. I just think she should've had more fun with this—her styling seems too conservative.
Anya Taylor-Joy
Somehow, I'd missed that Anya went blonde (this is how her hair used to look, and I think it worked better with her skin tone). But even if the platinum washes her out, the makeup is flawless.
Anya is wearing: Serum • Moisturizer • Eye cream • Foundation in 0 Neutral • Concealer in 0 Neutral • Blush in Rose Caprice Matte • Highlighter in Metallic Platinum • Eyeshadow in 599 New Look • Mascara • Brow pencil in Universal Brown • Brow mascara in Blonde • Lip balm • Lip liner in Nude Look • Lipstick in Promenade
Eiza González
Only Eiza could look this amazing in wet hair. Combed neatly off her face, it puts the focus on her incredible skin and full lips, adorned with a pop of sheer red.
Bryce Dallas Howard
Bryce did her own makeup, and aside from what looks like a blending error near her jawline, I think she did an okay job. I'm less enthusiastic about the hair (which she did herself, too, and kinda looks that way).
Carey Mulligan
I'm underwhelmed by Carey, but I suspect bad lighting may be stealing some of her pretty. I miss her short hair, though. That gamine vibe really suited her, and she was always styling it in creative ways.
Carey is wearing: Face mask • Eye cream • Moisturizer • Foundation in Pâle and Porcelaine • Concealer in 2 • Powder • Highlighter in Pearly Rose and Peach Rose • Blush in Golden Rose and Shimmer • Blush in Rose and Corail • Bronzer • Eyeshadow in Baby Pink • Eyeshadow in Silky Rose, Metallic Pink and Silky Coral • Eyeliner in Brun and Black • Mascara in Deep Black • Brow pencil in Blonde • Lip liner in Rose Passion • Lipstick in Rose Bolchoi • Lip gloss in Nude and Litchi
