Mid-way through awards season, the Grammys always shake things up in the beauty department—and last night's ceremony was no exception!
From bare-faced beauty to avant-garde glam, here are the night's best looks.
Once again, Alicia proves that you don't need makeup to look glamorous! She swore off it in 2016, and I'm so happy that she has continued to rock a bare face at events. (These are her skincare secrets, in case you're wondering!) The half-up curls elevate this, of course, as do little details like brushed-up brows and a subtly tinted lip balm.
Dua's sleek, straight bob and nude-toned makeup are SO chic. The hair especially helps to dress down her gown (which I think is more suited for the Oscars, but oh well). She has an amazing set of brows, lovely long lashes and a nice soft matte lip texture.
Miley looks all grown up in this understated makeup, long hair and a sophisticated suit. What a difference a few years make! I can't believe how much her hair has grown. It's slightly gelled at the side and part for a bit of an '80s feel. I love the kitten eyes, too.
I can't help but feel like Janelle's penchant for hats turns every outfit into a costume. Nevertheless, she does look beautiful here. The plunging neckline shows off her gorgeous skin, and the baby pink lip colour is amazing. Along her lower lash lines, the little pop of navy blue liner is unexpected and fun.
Finally, something more relaxed from Lady Gaga, after all the stiff, retro looks she's been wearing. I like the tousled hairstyle, full but natural brows, clear lip gloss and modern smoky eyes. And she has such great skin! However, I'm not crazy about the platinum blonde and dark roots.
Rashida opted for her signature bangs and long bob with the ends curled under. Yes, we've seen this many times from her, but I never really get tired of it. Makeup-wise, she enhanced both eyes and lips, wearing smudgy black liner and copper shadow with a glossy red lipstick.
I'm torn. On the one hand, I do like Camila's wavy, face-framing bangs. And the sheer peachy lip gloss is pretty. But something about this seems too mature for her—maybe the heavy blush and the high neckline of the dress?
Tracee Ellis Ross
So, Kermit the Frog green is a hard colour to wear... and I don't think it's quite working for Tracee. Or maybe it's just that her makeup palette is too warm for it. (I'm really not a fan of this lip colour against the green!) That said, I always appreciate her fresh skin, natural lashes and cornrow braids.
Sometimes, classic bombshell glamour can look a bit dated—but that's not the case with Jameela at all. I think it's mainly her bangs that give this a fresher look. And I love the bold red lipstick and contouring to make her cheeks pop.
Seriously, what happened to Katy?! Back in the day, she killed it at this event! Now, I want to give her a make-under. I could live with the platinum blonde pixie, but everything about this makeup is too heavy. I don't know what's worse—the blush, the brows, the lashes or the eyeshadow!
I take back what I said about Janelle's hat looking like a costume... THIS hat is a costume! Jennifer is having a very Céline Dion moment, no? The stripes of contouring, especially under her jawline, are way too obvious.
