In case you missed it, Jennifer Lopez recently turned 50 (I repeat, 50!) and yet her skin looks like this—not a day over 35.
"People always ask about my skin," she admitted on Today. "I have to say, I have good genes. My mom and my grandma had beautiful skin, so I was blessed in that way. I haven't had any plastic surgery... or injectables or fillers or anything like that."
But she does take care of her skin, and with a simpler routine than you'd think.
"Honestly, my routine hasn't really changed [from when I was in my 20s and 30s]," she told InStyle. "It has always been about maintenance."
That means she eschews trendy anti-aging products in favour of basic cleansing, moisturizing and sun protection. And lifestyle plays a big role, too. "I try to get my sleep. I don't smoke. I don't drink."
As you can see, these are the gorgeous results:
And soon, we'll be able to get some of that glow ourselves!
"I will be coming out with a skincare line," Jennifer revealed to Harper's Bazaar in 2018. "I've been working on it for a long time because I don't want to put [just] anything out. I want it to be something that encompasses all the things I've learned and all the secrets I have. And it doesn't have anything to do with needles. It's going to be something that works. That's what you can count on when my name is on something."
Until then, here's what we know about her routine....
Jennifer’s Daytime Skincare Routine
Lancer The Method: Cleanse: "I wash my face and moisturize daily. I always, always wash my face after a workout. That helps keep my pores clean and my skin feeling healthy."
L'Oréal Paris Bright Reveal Brightening Day Moisturizer SPF 30: "[I use it] every single day."
Dr. Hauschka Rose Day Cream: "I love that Rose Cream by Dr. Hauschka—it's natural and so hydrating. It makes me feel like I'm doing something good for my skin."
Själ Saphir Concentrate Anti-Aging Face Oil: "My clients love when I use this facial oil on them." — Mary Phillips, Jennifer's makeup artist
Vintner's Daughter Active Botanical Serum: "Stuff like this makes you feel beautiful. Liquid gold." — Mary Phillips, Jennifer's makeup artist
Sun Bum Original Sunscreen Spray SPF 15: "You have to protect your skin. I'm rarely in the sun, but if I am, I wear a lot of sunscreen. I've never been one to take a lot of sun, which is why my skin has maintained itself."
Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Body Mist Sunscreen SPF 30: "I use this Neutrogena spray [on her]. It's Ultra Sheer Body Mist Sunscreen in 30. Super glow! Forget the MAC setting spray. And this is also good for your skin, so when you go outside bronzed, you maintain your sun protection." — Scott Barnes, Jennifer's makeup artist
Perricone MD No Makeup Foundation Serum SPF 20: "I don't wear a lot of makeup when not working and am a firm believer in SPF. I try not to stay out in the sun too long."
Jane Iredale Corrective Colors: "I am pretty low-key when it comes to my day to day beauty routine. I have to wear a lot of makeup for work, so when I am not working, I tend to wear little to no makeup."
Jennifer’s Nighttime Skincare Routine
Lancer The Method: Polish: "She uses the Dr. Lancer Method and she is a natural beauty." — Louise Deschamps, Jennifer's facialist
Lancer The Method: Cleanse: "I wash my makeup off before I go to sleep at night. I never go to bed without taking my makeup off."
Glycolic acid: "[I love] glycolic acid to get that healthy glow and clear skin."
La Mer Crème de la Mer Moisturizing Cream: "Then I'll usually put on... moisturizer and eye cream if it's the evening. [I use] night creams to keep my skin hydrated."
"[The one product Jennifer swears by is] probably La Mer Cream." — Scott Barnes, Jennifer's makeup artist
Lancer The Method: Nourish: "She uses the [Lancer] products at home." — Louise Deschamps, Jennifer's facialist
5. Eye Cream:
Lancer Eye Contour Lifting Cream: "I use my eye cream. At a certain point, you have to start doing that."
Jennifer’s Skincare Treatments
Lancer Dermatology Clinic: "What I can tell you about Jennifer Lopez is that... what we do on her, we do the same thing as everybody else. She does not do a million things to her face. [We do a standard facial.]" — Louise Deschamps, Jennifer's facialist
Microcurrent, Microdermabrasion and Light Therapy:
CACI Ultimate System: "She loved it so much she wanted a machine at home." — a Life & Style source
Jennifer’s Diet, Exercise and Lifestyle
"I also follow a healthy diet.... What you eat doesn't just affect your body; it can also affect the way your skin looks. Protein is my go-to whenever I start having cravings. It fills me up and keeps me full longer. It's a great muscle fuel. I think drinking lots of water and fresh foods with lots of fruits and vegetables—I keep [them] with me at all times—all play into the quality of skin's appearance."
"Lots of water. Believe it or not, it does help keep your weight down. It obviously keeps you hydrated. For me, it just feels good. It's mostly what I drink all the time. I don't count [how many glasses], I just drink it all day."
Alcohol, Smoking and Caffeine:
"I don't drink or smoke or have caffeine. That really wrecks your skin as you get older."
Tracy Anderson: "It's no secret that I love dancing, so it doesn't even feel like exercise to me. I freestyle dance with Tracy Anderson five times a week. We'll incorporate light weights for the arms and moves that focus on the butt and thighs and engage the core."
David Kirsch: "I also do circuit training with David Kirsch when I'm in New York. We do hour-long circuits at least three times a week. It's full-body training—so planks, push-ups, boxing—really everything. It's all about changing it up and keeping your body guessing."
"I also frequently get massages to loosen up my body and have toxins flushed out of my body."
"Meditation is one of my secrets for looking and feeling better. I also definitely think beauty comes from within—you have to have keep your mind, soul, body and spirit in sync. I am a firm believer in meditating, and when you are happy and feel joy and love, you radiate beauty."
"Affirmations are so important. I am youthful and timeless. I tell myself that every day, a few times a day. It sounds like clichéd bullshit, but it's not. Age is all in your mind. Look at Jane Fonda."
"The number one tip is to always get enough sleep. I can't stress this enough. Ideally I would love to get nine or 10 hours of sleep, but either way, I always make sure I get at least eight."
