At 38 years old, she looks virtually the same as she did in Blue Crush, which was filmed nearly 20 years ago. In other words, not a wrinkle nor a blemish to be found! I HAD to find out her secrets.
"I take very good care of my skin. I have pretty sensitive skin, [and] I'm quite fair so I get sun damage really easily. When I break out, it's always around the chin. It's hormonal… I've had breakouts around the chin ever since I was a teenager," Kate has admitted in interviews with Violet Grey, Lisa Eldridge and Daily Mail.
Like most celebs, she depends on a team of experts, including two different facialists and a naturopathic doctor. ("Between those three people, I've been really lucky to have a balance with my skin and health in general," she told Yahoo!.)
But equally important is her daily skincare routine. Not only is she surprisingly consistent with the products that she uses, both morning and night, but she has also stayed true to certain brands for years.

Kate’s Morning Skincare Routine
Epicuren Herbal Cleanser: "I start with washing my face. I use this Epicuren Herbal Cleanser, like, religiously. That doesn't change regardless of what climate I'm in."
2. Face Mist:
Epicuren Soothe Dermal Repair Mist: "This toner is beautifully calming for the skin and also holds in hydration and protects from external elements throughout the day."
3. Aloe Vera Gel:
Epicuren Aloe Vera Calming Gel: "I have pretty sensitive skin, and this particular aloe is really very calming for the skin. Also Epicuren has formulated it in such [a way] that even if you have an allergy to aloe—which I don't but a lot of people do—they took out whatever compound it is that creates that kind of effect. And so it's just incredibly pure. It has a really nice consistency."
4. Face Oil:
ISUN Sapphire Facial Oil Moisturizer: "Once the aloe gel has dried, I apply ISUN Sapphire Oil. I think people with acne get nervous about oils, but this will not break you out; it's too pure for that. It's an anti-inflammatory; it's very calming."
Augustinus Bader The Rich Cream: "I'm obsessed with this cream. It is just incredibly results-driven. I'm a huge skincare fanatic, and this is a product that I just absolutely have been loving. [It's] also great for the winter season or when you're travelling a lot."
Augustinus Bader The Cream: "Sometimes if I use The Rich Cream in super humid climates, I can break out. So I just use The Cream which is a little bit lighter and perfect for humidity, but it still gives me the results that I want. It's really nice over the aloe vera as well—it feels super hydrated and dewy but not, like, wet. It is truly the one product I can't live without."
Epicuren Acidophilus Probiotic Facial Cream: "It's super-neutralizing and not overly hydrating, so it's good if you have oily skin."
Epicuren Hydro Plus Moisturizer: "If I need a bit more moisture I use Epicuren Hydro Plus. I like Epicuren because you see results, but it's very gentle so you're not being too abrasive with your skin."
Weleda Skin Food Original Ultra-Rich Cream: "If I am feeling particularly dry, I will add a bit of Weleda Skin Food to the [Epicuren] moisturizer. I only use this either mixed in with a lighter moisturizer... or a little amount goes a long way. It feels exactly [like] what the title of the product is, which is Skin Food."
COOLA Classic Face Sunscreen SPF 50 White Tea: "The first one, which I would wear underneath makeup, is the COOLA. It's organic, it's reef-safe, it's really a great sunscreen... I really, really love it."
Inno-Derma Sunblock UVP 50+ Oily Skin: "We all know that the sunscreen trap is that it can feel super greasy and just kind of weirdly gross. This one, basically you can put it on any skin. I have super sensitive skin and it doesn't make me break out. It's just a really great sunscreen but it doesn't make you greasy. So if you feel like whenever you put sunscreen on, and you're like, 'I hate this texture,' this one is for you."
Sweetsation Therapy Sun Si'Belle SPF 30 Moisturizer Sunscreen Tinted: "I love, love, love this product, especially when I'm on holiday. It has a really nice tint [but] not so much coverage that you feel like you're wearing a whole face of makeup on the beach. It gives you this even and kind of dewy coverage."
Koh Gen Do Maifanshi Moisture Foundation: "One of the foundations that I really love to use—especially in my day to day—is this one from Koh Gen Do. It's a moisture foundation, and for me, the foundations that work the best are the ones that do have moisture and have some hydrating elements to them. If the foundation is too dry, then I just feel like you see all the cracks and the creases in my skin and it's just not the look I'm going for."
Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick: "It's one of those products that is always in my makeup kit or my purse. It's just an easy way to touch up the skin [and is] really creamy and hydrating."
Edward Bess Illuminating Eyeshadow Base: "It's actually not even supposed to be utilized for concealer I think, but I just love the brightness quality of it so much that I do use it for under my eyes and for on the lids."
Clé de Peau Concealer: "The other concealer that I have is this Clé de Peau, which is an old favourite, an old staple. This colour is in Ivory. I've just had this forever; it's like a hero product of mine in my makeup kit and something I always carry around with me."
Glossier Stretch Concealer: "I like their concealer for everyday use."
RMS Beauty Lip2Cheek: "I use RMS tints on the eyes, cheeks and lips. I love all her colours. I'm a minimalist. If there's a multi-function product, I'm a sucker for that. Part of my job is hours and hours of makeup, so in my personal life I'm incredibly impatient."
NARS The Multiple: "I like anything multi-purpose, like the NARS Multiple."
RMS Beauty Living Luminizer: "Rose-Marie Swift's highlighter is of course a star."
11. Lip Balms:
Glossier Coconut Balm Dotcom: "I always like to finish skincare with my favourite hero product, which is the Glossier. The great thing about this balm is that you can just kind of put it anywhere, so... whatever the excess is... [I always] put it around my eyes and always on the cuticles."
Clinique Chubby Stick Intense Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm: "This is such an old favourite. It's called Chunkiest Chili."
12. Face Mist:
ISUN Ormus Myst Face & Body Mist: "Throughout the day I spray ISUN Ormus Myst, a mix of beautiful essential oils infused with live water and a quartz crystal embedded in each bottle of mist."
Kate’s Nighttime Skincare Routine
Epicuren Herbal Cleanser: "[I] cleanse with Epicuren Herbal Cleanser. I really love it and I've used it a long time."
Bioderma Sensibio H2O Make-Up Removing Wipes: "I really love the Bioderma wipes because sometimes if I have a little bit of makeup from the day and I have an overnight flight, I like to take my makeup off completely. So the Bioderma wipes are really great for that."
EmerginC Scientific Organics At-Home Facial Peel + Clarifying Kit: "If I am heavily exfoliating, I will swipe several Scientific Organics Peel Pads on clean skin and sleep with just that formula—these pads are the best I have found. The exfoliant is natural fruit peels and other natural ingredients that turn the skin's vitality over incredibly effectively. I feel like I have a new face the next day."
3. Face Mist:
Epicuren Soothe Dermal Repair Mist: "If I am not exfoliating but need to infuse more hydration into my routine, I cleanse [and then] spritz with Epicuren Soothe dermal spray."
4. Aloe Vera Gel:
Epicuren Aloe Vera Calming Gel: "Apply my aloe. It's so nice if your skin's a little bit irritated or if you've been in the sun. I really love it. It's very clean and it doesn't have a weird aloe vera fragrance. It doesn't have really any fragrance—it just smells very pure and clean. So I kind of put that all over and let it dry. You always want to make sure aloe vera dries completely, because you can get impatient with it and feel slightly sticky and put other things on, but then I think it doesn't work as well."
Epicuren Protein Mist Enzyme Toner: "And then once [my aloe is] dry, a mix of ISUN Sapphire Oil and Epicuren Protein Mist Enzyme Toner. These enzymes build the skin back up, so this step is particularly useful the day after a rigorous exfoliation or peel."
6: Face Oil:
ISUN Sapphire Facial Oil Moisturizer: "I love this serum. It is incredibly special. I had heard—and I don't know if this is true—that the woman who makes this actually hand-picks all of the herbs and the flowers that are then macerated to make the oil. So I like to think that it's a bottle of love."
Augustinus Bader The Rich Cream: "[It's] great if you feel super dry and want to use it as a night cream."
EmerginC Scientific Organics Phytocell Cream: "For moisturizer, I use Scientific Organics Phytocell Cream."
8. Eye Cream:
ISUN Peptide Eye Cream Moisture Cream: "Lastly, ISUN Peptide Eye Cream."
9. Lip Balms:
Homeoplasmine Pommade: "This is a product that's for any chapped area. I got this in France. I like to use this on my lips because it's such a nice texture, and also around the eyes, especially on the plane or at night if I'm feeling like it's particularly dry."
Aquaphor Healing Ointment: "It's, like, so thick and hydrating. It's like an ointment."
Kate’s Skincare Treatments
Faith Tatro: "The woman who has truly been a lifesaver magician with my skin is Faith Tatro. She's in Los Angeles. She's a medical aesthetician. She just has the knowledge and instinct with skin that's unmatched—she's brilliant. I've been seeing her since I was about 22 or 23."
Joanna Vargas: "The facialist I see [in New York City] is Joanna Vargas, who I adore and love. She's lovely. She's also incredible in her work."
LightStim for Wrinkles LED Light Therapy Device: "I often get asked about skin and LightStim has been a huge part of maintaining the integrity. [It is]—in my opinion—the best in LED therapy, hands down. I have been using LightStim for years. They are the only US-manufactured, FDA-approved LED therapy."
ISUN Pearl Radiance Face & Hand Mask: "If I'm in the bath, I will apply ISUN's Pearl Radiance Mask, which is incredible for lightening and tightening the skin."
SK-II Facial Treatment Mask: "It tightens, it brightens—it makes my face look like it's had a good night's sleep, when I could have had no sleep. It's the best quick fix I've come across for skin."
"This is a good little tip, I learned this one on set. If you find that your skin is freaking out, you can buy colloidal silver. You're supposed to take it internally, but you can also get it as a gel, and it's so antibacterial. Wash your face and then douse it in colloidal silver, and it will literally take redness out immediately."
"And if you have rosacea, you should apply vitamin K topically. You have to be really consistent with it. I think that's the best thing on the market for rosacea. I did college anatomy in high school, and I'm very fascinated with the body!"
Kate’s Diet, Exercise and Lifestyle
"For me, it's really refined sugar and booze [that cause breakouts]. Which doesn't mean I'm not drinking wine. Or vodka. Or tequila. I like my cocktail and my burger like everyone else. I think it's just really about moderation and when you pick those moments [to indulge]. When I'm working and want to feel my best and my sharpest I'll stay away from anything that doesn't help with that. So sugar, wheat, dairy—all the things we really like, but that make me quite tired! And you can see those showing up in your skin."
Dr. Nigma Talib: "We met years ago in London. I was shooting a mini-series there and our friend Rosie [Huntington-Whiteley] said, 'You have to go and see Dr. Nigma while you're in London.' She really just educated me about the gut and how different foods and different things that you intake and process are going to affect everything on the inside, yes, but you'll see it on the outside."
Health From The Sun Evening Primrose Oil: "For me, this is an incredible lifesaver when it comes to minimizing blemishes and breakouts, particularly during hormonal times. I find that when I'm being consistent, it completely gets rid of all breakouts."
Moringa powder: "I have been drinking a hot drink of warm water and half a teaspoon of moringa powder. It is a superfood with incredibly healthy properties: amino acids, minerals, antioxidants."
"I work out in the morning. This morning I ran. Well, I walked, jogged, and ran for about 25 minutes and then did ten minutes of strengthening, so 35 minutes total. With exercise, I believe a little can go a long way. I don't think you should feel overwhelmed by having to spend hours in the gym. I also really love Pilates and horseback riding."
"[What time I go to sleep] really depends, but generally between 10:30 and midnight—if I'm being good."
