Kylie Jenner may have turned her love of makeup into a billion-dollar beauty empire, but she wants us to know that she's equally passionate about skincare.
"If I'm going to see people, I won't wear heavy makeup. It's not attractive on me," she told The New York Times. "When you see those pictures on my Instagram, they are usually for when I'm doing a photo shoot or an interview."
For her day-to-day life, skincare plays a bigger role in her routine, which is why she launched Kylie Skin in 2019. "Skincare and makeup go hand in hand," she explained on Instagram, "and Kylie Skin was something I dreamt up soon after Kylie Cosmetics. Everything is cruelty-free, vegan, gluten-free, paraben- and sulfate-free and suitable for all skin types. So much love went into this. It all starts with skin."
It's no surprise, then, that the 23-year-old has been showing off a less made-up complexion in her recent selfies.
Yes, her skin looks flawless. But whether it's on account of the products, a really good Instagram filter, or the army of skin experts and makeup artists that she has on call is anyone's guess!
So what does her routine entail? Keep scrolling to find out the exact products she uses, both from her own range as well as other brands.
Kylie’s Morning Skincare Routine
Kylie Skin Foaming Face Wash: "I start with my face wash—probably my favourite product in the line. This just makes my face feel so clean, and it also retains your natural moisture in your face. You really only need one pump; it goes a long way."
Christie Kidd Clean Natural Facial Cleanser: "I use her face wash in the morning."
Kylie Skin Vanilla Milk Toner: "Now I'm going to use my Vanilla Milk Toner, which smells delicious. It's very fast and easy to use toner."
Kylie Skin Face Moisturizer: "This moisturizer is my base for my makeup right now. This makes my makeup look flawless every single time. Your face just looks naturally hydrated. I [also] love putting this on just to leave the house when I'm wearing no makeup. This has changed my life."
The Super Salve Co. Mimosa Blossom Dream Cream: "I use this all-natural moisturizer called Mimosa Blossom Dream Cream. I have sensitive skin and it's super dry, so a lot of stuff irritates me."
4. Eye Creams:
Kylie Skin Eye Cream: "It pretty much is the best recipe for your eyes. It can definitely cover up a late night partying, or even if you just stayed up late and haven't gotten a lot of sleep. This is a quick fix."
Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado: "For eye cream, I love the Kiehl's avocado eye treatment."
Kylie Skin Broad Spectrum SPF 40 Face Sunscreen: "Totally invisible. [It] is my final step in my skincare routine and makes an amazing base for my makeup. Sunscreen is important to me. I have naturally really fair skin and I can't ever get a tan. I just burn."
TiZO3 Tinted Facial Primer Sunscreen SPF 40: "My sister Khloé taught me to wear sunscreen. I use one by TiZO3. It doesn't really smell like sunscreen, which I like, and it's tinted. If I wake up in the morning and have to run somewhere, I'll just put that on solo."
Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation: "I love this foundation. I love how it makes my skin look. So I'm going to do like three squirts of that in the colour 6.5, and then I'm going to do one squirt of 9. I definitely feel like this combo is my perfect match."
Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation: "My usual go-to is the Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation. You can still see my skin through it."
7. Cream Highlighter:
Marc Jacobs Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter: "I just found these Marc Jacobs Fantasy Dew Drops, and I'm kind of obsessed. One squirt of this... four squirts of [foundation]. I take my foundation brush and just mix it all around. I kind of like my freckles to show through my makeup... I blend it out really good so that it doesn't look too heavy."
Kylie Cosmetics Skin Concealer: "Next step is my concealer. I'm using the shade Maple right now. I don't like to use too much. I'm also going to take Himalaya and just do like two dots under my eyes. This has a pink undertone so I really feel like it cancels out any dark circles that I have from not sleeping."
Kylie Cosmetics Loose Setting Powder: "Now that we blended my concealer in, I'm going to go and take my favourite setting powder in the entire world; it happens to be by Kylie Cosmetics. First I'm going to do a light set with Soft Pink. I like to use this definitely for the under-eye area because again, it has a hue of pink, which I feel like cancels out my dark circles. Then I'm going to take the Beautyblender and Translucent, and I'm going to set. So I'm just pressing my Translucent powder into the centre of my forehead, under my nose and the centre of my chin. Last but not least, I'm going to take the colour Beige with my big, chunky brush and I'm going to set the rest of my face."
KKW Beauty Skin Perfecting Setting Powder: "I'm going to use Kim's setting powder. Me and Kim do not compete. We really like making completely different products and we both enjoy each other's stuff."
Chanel Ultra Le Teint Ultrawear All Day Comfort Flawless Finish Compact Foundation: "Chanel is actually like a sunscreen and a foundation."
Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Loose Powder: "For powder, I use the Bobbi Brown yellow powder that they have. I like yellow because it cancels out any red, and it works really well with my spray tan colour."
Kylie Cosmetics Bronzer: "I'm going to mix my bronzers, Tequila Tan and Toasty, and I'm going to do this to contour my face and add some warmth back in here."
KKW Beauty Powder Contour & Highlight Palette: "For bronzer, I've been using the Kardashian bronzer. I use it in the hollow of my cheekbones, the sides of my head, my nose and under my chin."
Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit: "And Anastasia Beverly Hills has this contour kit that's just easy, and everything is there."
Kylie Cosmetics Blush: "I always have a pop of blush, all the time. I'm going to mix my two favourite shades from my collection, Baddie on the Block and Winter Kissed. I think the mixture of them together is beautiful. I put a little on my nose; I really put it just all over my face... why not?"
NARS Blush: "Then I use NARS Orgasm blush."
12. Powder Highlighters:
Kylie Cosmetics Kylighter: "I am going to use my favourite shade, Queen Drip... I'm not going to drag it onto my cheek because I don't like highlighter on my cheek. Now I'm going to take a smaller brush and I'm going to do right down the centre of my nose, and maybe above my lip a little bit."
Anastasia Beverly Hills Loose Highlighter: "If I do amp it up, I usually go for a lot of illuminator. I love to be super shiny, like that strobing trend that's happening on Instagram. Anastasia has an awesome highlighter. I love the gold one."
13. Setting Sprays:
MAC Prep + Prime Fix+: "I feel like spraying just makes your makeup look better in person and less powdery. So you kind of drench it, and you get a little scared at first because you're like, 'Did I ruin my makeup?' But then once it dries, it looks way better."
Kylie Cosmetics Setting Spray: "This setting spray smells amazing. I get so many compliments on my setting spray. I just like to do a light mist all over my face."
Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray: "I use Urban Decay All Nighter [last]. Spray your face, so it stays all day and night."
14. Lip Balm:
Kylie Skin Hydrating Lip Mask: "This is heaven."
Kylie’s Nighttime Skincare Routine
1. Makeup Remover:
Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes: "I always wash my face before I go to sleep; that's a rule that never changes. It can really be hard to take it all off, so I need something that will do the job, but not irritate my skin. At night, I'll use the Neutrogena makeup remover wipes. It even gets the waterproof stuff off."
Kylie Skin Foaming Face Wash: "The thing about this face wash is it doesn't strip your face. Sometimes when I use other face washes, after my face will feel super dry and like it just took all the life out of my face. This almost brings my face back to life. It's a very unique face wash."
Kiehl's Blue Herbal Acne Cleanser Treatment: "I really like this and it like just makes your face feel super fresh after you wash it."
Kylie Skin Walnut Face Scrub: "Now I'm going to go in with my Walnut Face Scrub. Scrubs can be kinda harsh on your skin when you just put it on dry, so I'm going to wet my face a little.... I'm going to rub mainly around my nose [and] avoid the delicate skin around my eyes. It smells really good—we actually put no fragrance in a lot of our products, so it just smells like pure, delicious walnuts. I like to use it two to three times a week. Even if you do it once a week, like after the week to just remove dead skin cells, it really is the secret recipe to soft, delicious skin."
Kiehl's Rare Earth Deep Pore Daily Cleanser: "I don't think it's good to use an exfoliator every single day, but I like to use it maybe once a week or twice a week. I really like this. I use this after the gel cleanser if I'm going to use it."
Kylie Skin Vanilla Milk Toner: "This really helps me remove any surviving makeup after my Foaming Face Wash [to] just ensure that my face is as clean as possible before I go to sleep. Toner really helps prepare my face for my serum and my moisturizer. I could take a bath in this. I don't really like toners that have alcohol in them—again, my face feels very stripped away. This retains your natural moisture and just feels really good and fresh."
Kiehl's Rare Earth Pore Refining Tonic: "It's kind of like a toner. I just put it on a cotton ball and I feel like it just gets off any excess and it minimizes pores and it's just what's up. You just have to shake it before you use it, but it's pretty amazing."
Kylie Skin Vitamin C Serum: "After my toner, I'm going to go in with my vitamin C serum. All you need to do is apply a single pump. Right when you put it on, it immediately soaks into your skin. That's what I love about this one. Vitamin C is an antioxidant, so it really helps brighten your complexion."
6. Spot Treatment:
Mario Badescu Drying Lotion: "I don’t usually break out, but I have been lately, and I really fell in love with this Mario Badescu Drying Lotion. You're not supposed to shake it, and the product is kind of all at the bottom, so I just take a Q-tip, stick it all the way down there, and just apply it to [my] blemish."
Kylie Skin Face Moisturizer: "Then, after that, I will use my face moisturizer. I love [it] because I don't really like super thin moisturizers. I like to feel lathered and delicious and moisturized. There's no scent in this, so it just smells like all the natural ingredients in here. I learned strong fragrances can be kind of overwhelming, and also when it comes to your face, I feel like you just want to feel clean and like you're not putting fragrance on your face. So that was kind of important to me to keep everything super light and clean."
8. Eye Creams:
Kylie Skin Eye Cream: "Last but definitely not least, my eye cream. My sisters taught me at a really young age to wear eye cream. I feel like you could start as early as you want; it's just a good preventative to keep your under-eyes hydrated and moisturized. I designed this with a tip, so you never have to use your fingers. I love that about this, because sometimes I don't want to put on eye cream at night. It's a lot of work, so this makes it super easy for me."
Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado: "I use this under my eyes and I really pack it on and just let it soak into my skin overnight."
Kylie’s Skincare Treatments
Sephora Collection Face Masks: "I also found these masks at Sephora that all my friends are using. I'm obsessed with them. On the shelf there are a million of them—Sephora makes them—so you can try different ones. They're so much fun."
Christie Kidd, PA-C: "We have a family dermatologist, Christie Kidd in Beverly Hills. My sister Kendall had really bad acne when she was younger, and she really cleared it up. I thought, 'Well if she cured Kendall, I should start to visit her.'"
Dr. Simon Ourian: "I still do Juvéderm for my lips. I go to Dr. Ourian in Beverly Hills. He's the best, and he's super natural about it. I was going to somebody before, and it was just looking crazy. I would recommend that anyone who gets it done go for a filler that lasts only two to four months. It's annoying to keep going back, but you have the option of stopping it."
Crystal Koro: "My first facial ever, believe it or not."
Kylie’s Diet, Exercise and Lifestyle
Vital Proteins Beauty Collagen: "The first thing I eat or drink when I wake up is probably my bone broth—it's a mix of lavender and lemon. I don't just drink bone broth in the morning, I do sip on bone broth all day. So I'll go through probably like two jars of bone broth a day."
"I have a whole drawer in my refrigerator of just raw celery, so I will juice it fresh. I try and drink about 16 oz. in the morning and wait 30 minutes before eating."
"I do a vanilla iced latte with oat milk. That's my jam. Lately every morning I've been eating the same thing. Eggs, avocado, turkey bacon. A typical lunch for me—I can't eat the same thing every day—but I do love lemon chicken with vegetables. Sometimes I'll make myself some tacos. My favourite cheat meal is probably In-N-Out. I will have to admit that I am a big snacker. Barbecue Lays, Chili Cheese Fritos, extra cheesy Goldfish. [For dinner] I am either cooking... for [my daughter] Stormi and myself, or I'm somewhere eating sushi. I eat sushi probably way too much."
"I never find myself in a gym. I find myself on the floor of my bedroom looking up on, like, Google or Pinterest, workouts and doing abs, lunges, squats. All that good stuff."
"There are definitely moments when I get stressed out. I'll take the week off and spend more time with Stormi, or I like to go on trips when I'm feeling overwhelmed."
