Lady Gaga is as well-known for her bold, dramatic makeup looks as she is for her music. But underneath all that glam, you might be surprised to discover that her complexion is actually flawless.
In fact, her longtime makeup artist, Sarah Tanno, says that the 35-year-old “has the most incredible skin in the business.” (And she would know, having also worked with clients like Gigi Hadid, Kate Bosworth and Dakota Johnson.)
“[The] first step to good makeup is skincare,” Lady Gaga recently explained on Instagram. “I believe almost all skin problems are caused by disruption of skin barrier and microbiome. My trick is to use solutions that balance my skin by interrupting any inflammation caused by free radicals or products. So... I use products I develop... exclusively for me.”

Wait—was that a hint? It sounds like her two-year-old makeup line, Haus Laboratories, may soon expand into skincare. After all, the initial trademark application included everything from facial cleansers to deodorant.
Until that happens, here’s what we know about her routine, thanks to both Tanno and Lady Gaga herself.
Lady Gaga’s Skincare Routine (At a Glance)
Her Morning Skincare Routine
Ole Henriksen Truth Serum: “I love Ole Henriksen Truth Serum because it really boosts a nice, healthy glow. I press it into [Lady Gaga’s] skin with [a sonic infusion device] to really help it absorb.” — Sarah Tanno
Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré: “My trusty moisturizer of choice has always been Embryolisse. It’s perfect for makeup prep and even works on the most sensitive skin. I always keep this in tow and in-flight.” — Sarah Tanno
By Terry Baume de Rose Face Cream: “I use that all over [Lady Gaga’s] face for a more dewy look.” — Sarah Tanno
3. Face Oil
Vintner’s Daughter Active Botanical Serum: “Sometimes face oils don’t absorb into the skin and they become sticky. But this one really absorbs so nicely and evens skin tone so well that I sometimes skip the moisturizer [on Lady Gaga]—I really don’t have to use much else.” — Sarah Tanno
Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40: “The sunscreen to end all sunscreens.”
5. Lip Balm
Sisley Paris Nutritive Lip Balm: “Before any look, I really like to exfoliate the lips. If you don’t have a tool to do that, a tongue scraper works really well. After that, I’ll add on Sisley Nutritive Lip Balm. It’s my ride or die—I can’t live without it.” — Sarah Tanno
Her Nighttime Skincare Routine
Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré: “Embryolisse cream. I’m kind of old-school. I put it all over my face and just wipe it off.”
Her Skincare Treatments
Talika Bio Enzymes Hydrating Mask: “They have one for everything you need. I love to give the hydrating one to her on a flight to keep the skin hydrated.” — Sarah Tanno
Talika Bio Enzymes Anti-Aging Mask: “The anti-aging one is great for makeup prep because it tightens the pores and leaves the skin really smooth for application.” — Sarah Tanno
Talika Bio Enzymes Purifying Mask: “They have a purifying one I like after we do a show to help detox [Lady Gaga’s] skin after heavier looks and sweating on stage.” — Sarah Tanno
Talika Eye Therapy Patch: “They also have my favourite eye patches to relieve any puffiness.” — Sarah Tanno
Joomee Song: “I love this microcurrent facial. There are actually two attachments—one goes on the aesthetician, and then one goes on you. The electricity flows through both of our bodies at the same time to lift the muscles. It’s also a stress reliever, which for me means less pain because my pain is neuropathic.”
Her Diet, Exercise and Lifestyle
“I’m on a very strict healthy pop star diet. I don’t eat bread, just vegetables and salad and fish. Eating like that is much better for me anyway but on Sundays I sometimes eat pasta. Sundays used to be the day my family would always make fresh food at home. So sometimes I like to let myself eat what I want on a Sunday.”
“Gyrotonics. It’s like a very advanced form of Pilates, and it looks like a medieval torture device. I do 35 pounds on each leg. It keeps you strong, long, and lean. That’s basically all I do. Well, that and dancing.”
“Yoga makes me feel like I can do anything.”
