MTV Movie Awards 2016: The Best Skin, Hair and Makeup Looks on the Red Carpet
The annual MTV Movie Awards took place in Los Angeles on Saturday night, and as usual, the beauty looks did not disappoint.
Jessica brought the glam, Cara brought the edge—and what would an event be these days without Gigi and Kendall?!
Here's all the hair and makeup you need to see:
Jessica Chastain
This has to be the nicest makeup I've ever seen on Jessica! Gone are the false lashes and drawn-on brows that previously overwhelmed her delicate features. Instead, she has a sculpted smudgy liner look that balances perfectly with her soft berry lips. The brows were filled in, but then combed through with brow mascara, which is the secret to a natural look. I also really like her hair at this length.
Gigi Hadid
Gigi has new bangs! I think they're probably just clip-ins, but it's hard to say for sure. They help put the focus on her shimmery bright gold eyeshadow and black liner (to make it pop). I appreciate that the waterlines are light, but not white, and there's a nice harmony going on between the warm nude lips and eyeshadow. The only thing I'm not into are the layers around her face, which don't seem modern.
Gigi is wearing: Foundation • Concealer • Powder • Contour/blush in Medium to Deep • Brow crayon in Blonde • Brow mascara in Blonde • Eyeshadow in Barely Beige • Eyeliner in Soft Nude • Eyeshadow in Charcoal Chrome • Eyeshadow in The Rock Nudes (matte black shade) • Mascara in Blackest Black • Lip liner in Nude • Lipstick in Nude Thrill • Lipstick in Bare All
Emilia Clarke
Emilia's sheer but strong pink lipstick is so great with the pretty shape of her lips and teeth. Normally, we see her with a lot less volume in her hair, but this wavy, textured bob is a fun change. Also notice the new tone-on-tone highlights to frame her face. With so much going on, I think a cleaner eye (with just soft lashes) would've been better.
Lizzy Caplan
I'm digging this cute bob 'n' bangs combo on Lizzy, which shows off her long neck and balances a long face shape. The makeup is also younger and fresher than many of her looks in the past. Especially the shimmery shadow, which transforms her smoky eyes for an almost wet-look eye. Plus, I always love me some chunky defined lashes. So good with the seamless blush and sheer baby pink lips!
Halsey
Halsey really suits this boyish short hairstyle, dressed up with a monochromatic tawny peach makeup look. The eyeshadow is deeper at the outer edges, with a touch of shimmer at the inner corners, paired with sheer cheeks and a more intense lip. But it would be better without the false lashes, and her brows could be bolder and more filled in.

Holland Roden
Holland wore her signature red hair straight and behind both ears, and it already makes for a cool colour contrast against her bright blue dress. Then, she added a pop of coral-pink lipstick and a sweep of matching blush—love! I'm happy to see this with just fluffy lashes, and no harsh liner.
Kendall Jenner
Kendall went with the usual Kardashian-Jenner recipe of pale lips, contoured cheeks, long lashes and arched brows. But there is something different here—she's wearing a fun pom-pom ponytail at the back. I think her eyes look really pretty with the precise tightlining.
Cara Delevingne
Cara has the coolest red carpet style, right down to the little beauty touches. Am I right? Now that she's not as over-exposed as a couple years ago, I feel like I can appreciate these things even more. The braid snaking down her part, with a matte greyish-berry lipstick, add the right amount of edge here—but not so much that she doesn't still look gorgeous. I also love that she never cheapens her makeup with false lashes.
Cara is wearing: Serum • Moisturizer • Foundation • Powder • Blush in Praline • Bronzer in Seduction • Eyeshadow in Peach • Eyeshadow in Lilac • Eyeliner in Caviar • Eyeshadow in Deep Night (to smudge eyeliner) • Brow gel • Mascara • Lipstick in Stripped
Charlize Theron
Good for Charlize for really committing to this intimidating ice queen look! Even though I prefer her hair down, she does pull off this extremely tight, hard-to-wear hairstyle. Her skin is in great condition, and while her makeup is never that exciting, I find her restraint admirable: no heavy liner or shadow, and normal-looking lashes. I think her brows could be more feathery and a softer colour.
Brittany Snow
Brittany always gets one thing basically right—playing up her eyes. Although I might disagree on the execution, I think it's the wise choice to emphasize how big, bright and blue they are with lots and lots of lashes. But I'm not a fan of her stripey highlights, which are only emphasized with this centre-parted hairstyle. An all-over solid colour would be better!
Kat Graham
I'm glad Kat is keeping up with the subtler, tone-on-tone makeup. (I mean, it's not subtle, but at least it's not as over-the-top as we've seen in the past.) Her lips are the best part of this look. Unfortunately, they're overpowered by the heavy Instagram brows (not to mention false lashes). It's a testament to how pretty she is that she still looks quite good!
