It's almost time to pack away our heavy coats and sweaters and bust out the floaty dresses, T-shirts and tank tops.
That's right, spring is just around the corner—and if you're looking to lighten up your skincare routine as well, you're in luck. Our favourite brands are launching tons of new products to help get our skin ready for the season ahead.
Among my top picks this month:
- An 18-shade tinted serum with active ingredients and mineral sunscreen
- A mix-it-yourself L-ascorbic acid and hyaluronic acid serum
- A minty version of my all-time favourite lanolin balm

New Skincare for March 2020
ILIA Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40
ILIA Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40 is this month's most innovative product—a tinted serum with SPF and skincare benefits. Available in 18 shades, it's got two percent niacinamide for brightening; six percent squalane and 0.5 percent hyaluronic acid for hydration; and 12 percent zinc oxide for sun protection. My only caveat is that if you plan to be in the sun for more than a few minutes, you should wear it over a good high-zinc sunscreen (with at least 20 percent zinc) for full UVA and UVB protection.
Goop Beauty GOOPGLOW 20% Vitamin C + Hyaluronic Acid Glow Serum
Goop Beauty GOOPGLOW 20% Vitamin C + Hyaluronic Acid Glow Serum boasts a 20 percent concentration of L-ascorbic acid, the most powerful form of vitamin C. It's stabilized by ferulic acid (although ferulic acid and vitamin E would be even better), and has hyaluronic acid for extra moisture. I love that you mix this serum yourself by adding the activator to the powder—that means it will be super fresh, and will last for three months after that.
Lanolips 101 Ointment Minty
Lanolips 101 Ointment Minty is the latest version of the brand's famous lanolin balm. This time, it's enhanced with vitamin E and peppermint oil for a minty flavour. Just like the original, you can use it on your lips, cuticles and anywhere else you get dry skin.
The Inkey List Vitamin B, C and E Moisturizer
The Inkey List Vitamin B, C and E Moisturizer is a basic lightweight cream for normal skin types. It's silicone-free and fragrance-free, with glycerin, fatty alcohol and coconut fatty acids helping to moisturize. As for the vitamins B, C and E, they're all at less than one percent, so the main benefit here is hydration.
Boscia Vitamin C with Caviar Lime Booster Serum
Boscia Vitamin C with Caviar Lime Booster Serum is a nice alternative to L-ascorbic acid serums for brightening, since it's gentler and has a longer shelf life. It features a 10 percent vitamin C complex that includes ethyl ascorbic acid (one of the best vitamin C derivatives) and caviar lime extract. You also get glycerin, hyaluronic acid and vitamin E.
Kypris Ad Astra Nighttime Eye Cream Emulsion
Kypris Ad Astra Nighttime Eye Cream Emulsion is a luxurious eye cream that combines botanicals with anti-aging actives. Its hydrating ingredients include cocoa butter, squalane and ceramides, while peptides and caffeine treat the delicate eye area. As always, the packaging is so beautiful!
Kopari Tropical Glow Cleanser
Kopari Tropical Glow Cleanser is a gel cleanser for all skin types. It's free of oil and sulfates, instead cleansing with gentle surfactants while it hydrates with aloe vera and coconut water. Pineapple and papaya enzymes give you a little exfoliating action, too.
The Inkey List Apple Cider Vinegar Acid Peel
The Inkey List Apple Cider Vinegar Acid Peel is an exfoliating peel for oily skin to use once or twice per week. There's 10 percent glycolic acid in here, along with five percent cranberry enzymes and two percent apple cider vinegar. If it's too much for your face, you can use it on your back and chest instead.
Aesop Sublime Replenishing Night Mask
Aesop Sublime Replenishing Night Mask is an intensive overnight hydrating mask that any skin type can use. It has a gel texture, and is packed with glycerin, squalane and jojoba esters to moisturize. Sodium ascorbyl phosphate (a vitamin C derivative) and niacinamide mean that it has brightening benefits as well.
Peace Out Dullness One-Step Brightening Face Pads
Peace Out Dullness One-Step Brightening Face Pads are infused with seven different acids plus niacinamide. They've got 10 percent AHAs (glycolic, lactic, citric, malic and tartaric acids); 0.4 percent BHAs (salicylic acid); and two percent PHAs (gluconolactone). The result is brighter, smoother skin when used twice weekly.
BYBI Crystal Clear Gel Cleanser
BYBI Crystal Clear Gel Cleanser is a foaming cleansing gel for all skin types, especially oily and acne-prone skin. It's sulfate-free, of course, and cleans with non-drying surfactants. But what makes it special is that it also helps to balance the skin's microbiome with the prebiotic inulin.
Goop Beauty GOOPGLOW 5% Glycolic Acid + Fruit Extracts Overnight Glow Peel Light
Goop Beauty GOOPGLOW 5% Glycolic Acid + Fruit Extracts Overnight Glow Peel Light is a milder version of the brand's original peel, with just five percent glycolic acid (instead of 15 percent). While the acid dissolves dead skin, the glycerin, propanediol and hyaluronic acid add moisture (and offset any dryness caused by the alcohol, a penetration enhancer). You're meant to use this once a week at night, followed by moisturizer 15 minutes later.
Dermalogica Invisible Physical Defense SPF 30
Dermalogica Invisible Physical Defense SPF 30 promises to protect all skin tones from UV rays without leaving a white cast—even though it contains a high 20 percent concentration of zinc oxide. The texture is lightweight and non-greasy (and it's not super high in silicones).
L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Derm Intensives 1.9% Pure Hyaluronic Acid Replumping Ampoules
L'Oréal Paris Revitalift Derm Intensives 1.9% Pure Hyaluronic Acid Replumping Ampoules are seven doses of hyaluronic acid for plumper, smoother, more hydrated skin. The concentration is 1.9 percent (which is high for hyaluronic acid), and the rest of the formula is free of silicone, fragrance, dyes and mineral oil. Each ampoule gives you enough for two applications (morning and night).
Milk Makeup Kush Lip Scrub
Milk Makeup Kush Lip Scrub is a two-in-one lip balm and leave-on lip scrub. Sugar crystals do most of the exfoliating here, while various emollients, including castor, olive and hemp seed oils, restore hydration. Peppermint oil gives it a minty flavour.
Boscia Vegan Collagen Booster Serum
Boscia Vegan Collagen Booster Serum is a nice option if you're looking for an alternative to hyaluronic acid-based hydrating serums. (Although it hints at collagen-boosting benefits, I'd say it's more for hydration than anti-aging.) The star ingredient is a vegetable collagen that will help to bind moisture and smooth the skin surface. It's supported by two peptides (one skin-conditioning, one firming) plus amla extract, an antioxidant. It's also free of silicones, synthetic fragrances and preservatives.
Bliss Rose Gold Rescue Peel
Bliss Rose Gold Rescue Peel is a gentle exfoliating peel for sensitive skin. It's fragrance-free, and polishes with an eight percent blend of ultra-mild PHAs and AHAs: gluconolactone, tartaric acid and mandelic acid. Glycerin, aloe vera and hyaluronic acid help to keep skin hydrated. Each package gives you 15 pads, for use two or three times per week.
The Inkey List Peptide Moisturizer
The Inkey List Peptide Moisturizer is a rich anti-aging moisturizer for dry skin that is enhanced by two different peptide complexes. Acetyl hexapeptide-37 supports the moisture barrier, while pentapeptide-48 mimics the effects of royal jelly for smoother skin and less visible lines and wrinkles. Among the other ingredients are glycerin, fatty alcohol and shea butter (and no silicones or fragrance).
Caudalie Nourishing Body Lotion
Caudalie Nourishing Body Lotion is a lightweight body moisturizer made with 93 percent natural ingredients. Think: glycerin, grape fruit water and shea butter, and no silicones or mineral oil. It's lightly scented with lemon, lavender and sandalwood, and has a silky, non-greasy texture.
Kosas Revealer Concealer
Kosas Revealer Concealer is a concealer, eye cream and spot treatment in one. It's a dewy, medium- to full-coverage cream formula that comes in 16 shades, and is silicone-free. It contains caffeine to tighten and brighten; peptides to boost collagen; hyaluronic acid to hydrate; and arnica to soothe and calm. These do seem to run darker and warmer than described, so you may want to go with a lighter shade than usual.
Naturopathica Chlorophyll & Salicylic Acid Spot Treatment
Naturopathica Chlorophyll & Salicylic Acid Spot Treatment is a natural alternative to drugstore acne spot treatments. You're getting a strong two percent salicylic acid to clear blemishes (and prevent future ones), plus chlorophyll to help fade post-acne marks. Propanediol, aloe vera and glycerin ensure it doesn't dry out your skin.
L’Occitane Immortelle Overnight Reset Eye Serum
L'Occitane Immortelle Overnight Reset Eye Serum helps you wake up to well-rested eyes, thanks to the star ingredient, immortelle essential oil. It has anti-aging, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, and is paired with caffeine to reduce puffiness and dark circles. Glycerin, propandediol and meadowfoam seed oil deliver lightweight hydration.
True Botanicals Pacific Glacial Clay Detoxifying Mask
True Botanicals Pacific Glacial Clay Detoxifying Mask won't leave your skin feeling dry, like so many clay masks can. Instead, it uses a special glacial clay (sea silt) that is equal parts moisturizing and detoxifying. Along with glycerin, squalane, oat extract and charcoal powder, it targets congestion while softening your skin and boosting its glow.
Victoria Beckham by Augustinus Bader Cell Rejuvenating Power Serum
Victoria Beckham by Augustinus Bader Cell Rejuvenating Power Serum is a collaboration between Victoria Beckham and Dr. Augustinus Bader, whose patented TCF8 complex has made his eponymous moisturizer a cult-favourite. It's in this serum, too, along with yeast ferment, hyaluronic acid and niacinamide. The result? Luminous, hydrated skin and protection from pollution and blue light.
Nécessaire The Deodorant
Nécessaire The Deodorant is an underarm deodorant that's free from aluminum, parabens, silicones and synthetic fragrance. And good news for sensitive skin—it's also made without baking soda, instead using silica, kaolin clay and zinc to control odour. It's also lightly scented with eucalyptus, and a fragrance-free version is coming soon.
The Inkey List Retinol Eye Cream
The Inkey List Retinol Eye Cream is a lightweight eye cream that targets fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes. Specifically, it contains three percent Vitalease, a non-irritating, slow-release retinol complex. Vitalease is comprised of seven percent retinol, so if you do the math, the overall retinol concentration in here is 0.21 percent. That's actually higher than the brand's retinol face serum!
Biossance Squalane + Zinc Sheer Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30
Biossance Squalane + Zinc Sheer Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30 is a lightweight and non-whitening mineral sunscreen for all skin tones. With 14 percent zinc oxide, I think it's best for use on your body (I prefer 20 percent zinc or higher to protect my face). Of course, it has the brand's signature squalane oil, and no silicones or synthetic fragrance.
