When you think of Walmart, you probably think about its vast array of homewares, appliances, clothing, toys or groceries. But amazing skincare products? Maybe not.
Sure, Walmart has long been a destination for drugstore beauty essentials. What you might not know is that it's now also stocking some of the best Korean lines, clean beauty formulas, and everything in between.
I was surprised to discover my Holy Grail retinoid and BHA treatment, along with some of my all-time favourite brands (like COSRX, Pyunkang Yul and Derma E). I even found my go-to micellar water, lanolin balm and collagen supplement!
So if you're like me and into clean ingredients, lightweight textures and products that truly WORK—rest assured that there are plenty of options. And the best part? Everything is at Walmart's everyday low prices.
Read on for my top Walmart skincare buys.
The Best Walmart Skincare Products of 2021
A313 Cosmetic Cream with Retinyl Palmitate
It's no secret that I love A313 Cosmetic Cream with Retinyl Palmitate (reviewed here). This made-in-France retinoid treatment is so effective that I've gone through multiple tubes over the last few years! With the texture of an ointment, it packs a potent, stabilized dose of retinyl palmitate to help with signs of aging, breakouts, pigmentation and large pores.
COSRX BHA Blackhead Power Liquid
COSRX BHA Blackhead Power Liquid (reviewed here) is a K-beauty BHA treatment that I can't live without. It contains 4% betaine salicylate, a gentler and more hydrating alternative to salicylic acid, in a non-greasy liquid-gel. I swear by this product for treating and preventing breakouts, smoothing my skin, and giving me a glow.
Foreo Luna Fofo
If you're not using a cleansing brush as part of your nighttime skincare routine, the Foreo Luna Fofo could be a real game-changer. This travel-friendly, battery-operated device is far more effective than washing with your fingers alone. Thanks to the gentle silicone bristles and sonic pulsations, it takes off 99.9% of dirt, oil, makeup and dead skin.
Bioderma Sensibio H2O
The OG micellar water, Bioderma Sensibio H2O, is a cult classic for a reason. I swear by it for removing any type of makeup without irritating sensitive skin or eyes. It does such a good job, it can even replace your regular cleanser. This has been one of my staples for the past decade!
Differin Adapalene Gel 0.1% Acne Treatment
Believe it or not, you can now get one of the most powerful retinoids without a prescription (and without breaking the bank!). Differin Adapalene Gel 0.1% Acne Treatment contains 0.1% adapalene, which is superior to tretinoin for treating acne, with less irritation. It also helps with wrinkles and sun damage—but go slow, because this stuff is strong!
Benton Aloe BHA Skin Toner
As one of my favourite toners, Benton Aloe BHA Skin Toner has exfoliating, calming, hydrating and clarifying benefits. The magic ingredients are aloe vera, snail mucin and 0.5% salicylic acid, which work together to moisturize, calm inflammation, and remove dead skin and sebum. Any skin type can use this after cleansing and before acids or hydrators.
Mad Hippie Vitamin C Serum
If you're looking for a gentle but effective vitamin C serum, Mad Hippie Vitamin C Serum should be on your list. This clean formula is high in sodium ascorbyl phosphate, a stable, non-irritating alternative to L-ascorbic acid with brightening, antioxidant and anti-acne benefits. It's bolstered by ferulic acid and vitamin E, and is free of fragrance and silicone.
Pyunkang Yul Moisture Cream
Pyunkang Yul Moisture Cream is a lightweight but nourishing moisturizer that I think is suitable for just about everyone. Created by the renowned Pyunkang Oriental Medicine Clinic in Seoul, Korea (which focuses on sensitive skin in particular), it is both silicone-free and fragrance-free. It also sinks in fast for a fresh, non-greasy finish.
Derma E Ultra Lift Firming DMAE Moisturizer
Another moisturizer to try is the newly reformulated Derma E Ultra Lift Firming DMAE Moisturizer. DMAE or dimethylethanolamine is a naturally-occurring compound that has been shown to help with skin firming and tightening. It's also loaded with copper peptides, resveratrol, ceramides and retinol. I've been impressed with all the moisturizers I've tried from this natural brand—this one is fragrance-free, low in silicone, and feels great on the skin.
Peter Thomas Roth Oilless Oil 100% Purified Squalane
As you probably know, I'm a huge fan of squalane oils like Peter Thomas Roth Oilless Oil 100% Purified Squalane. Derived from sugarcane, this is a thin and lightweight oil that should be non-comedogenic for most skin. I like to call it "the oil for people who hate oils" because it sinks in so fast and never feels greasy!
Aromatica Organic Aloe Vera Gel
Aloe vera gels aren't just for sunburns. Aromatica Organic Aloe Vera Gel is so clean, lightweight and fast-absorbing that you can use it as your regular face or body moisturizer. It's made with 95.2% aloe vera, and is free of fragrance, silicones and dyes. Plus it comes in a glass bottle with a convenient pump.
Egyptian Magic All Purpose Skin Cream
First launched in 1991, Egyptian Magic All Purpose Skin Cream has been a cult product for as long as I can remember. But I wouldn't describe it as a cream—it has more of a balm texture, and is made of olive oil, beeswax, honey, bee pollen, royal jelly and propolis. That makes it highly multi-purpose. You can use it as a moisturizer, eye cream, shaving balm, dewy highlighter and so much more.
Lansinoh Lanolin Cream
Nothing heals dry, chapped lips better than pure, medical-grade lanolin. And that's exactly what you'll find in a tube of Lansinoh Lanolin Cream. Although it's technically marketed as a nipple cream for breastfeeding, it's more effective than any other lip balm I've tried.
Avène Thermal Spring Water
Thermal water face mists like Avène Thermal Spring Water are a must-have. They're great for refreshing your skin, removing excess oil when there's no time for a full cleanse, and calming down redness and inflammation. You can even use them underneath your moisturizer for an extra layer of hydration, or as your last step after makeup to take away any powdery residue.
Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides
If there's one beauty supplement I recommend, it's collagen peptides. Did you know they are actually clinically proven to increase both skin hydration and skin density? I've been taking Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides for many years now—it's the highest-quality unflavoured collagen that dissolves easily in your coffee, juice or smoothie.
Olay Deep Hydration Serum
Although it promises intensive hydration, Olay Deep Hydration Serum does a lot more than just that. This fast-absorbing serum is packed with niacinamide, which not only supports a healthy moisture barrier but also brightens, reduces acne and regulates oil production. Happily, it is both fragrance-free and silicone-free.
SheaMoisture 100% Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
SheaMoisture 100% Extra Virgin Coconut Oil is a multitasking pure coconut oil that belongs in everyone's arsenal. It works as a makeup remover, body moisturizer, lip balm, lash conditioner and sunburn soother, to name just a few uses. I also apply coconut oil as a facial oil, and it has never broken me out (even though I am acne-prone!).
L’Oréal Paris Revitalift 1.5 % Pure Hyaluronic Acid
Ever since L'Oréal Paris Revitalift 1.5 % Pure Hyaluronic Acid launched in 2019, it's been flying off the shelves—in fact, one is sold in the US every 60 seconds! This is a lightweight hydrating serum containing a very high 1.5% concentration of hyaluronic acid. It's also fragrance-free and silicone-free.
Kocostar Watermelon Slice Mask Sheet
The Kocostar Watermelon Slice Mask Sheet isn't your typical face mask. Inspired by raw watermelon slices, each sheet contains six hydrating patches (so you get 12 in total). They're soaked in a blend of glycerin, watermelon extract and hyaluronic acid, and you can apply them anywhere on the face or body that needs extra hydration.
